  • I shot this video a few weeks ago shortly after I got my new 2021 Specialized Diverge Comp Carbon. It is just a quick overview of the bike. Specialized calls this colorway "Gloss Ice Blue/Clay/Cast Umber/Chrome/Wild Ferns." All I know is that I like the way it looks and happy I went with this over the typical all-black color scheme that has been ever so popular these last few years. Glad to see more colorful options returning to the market.

    I've got the same bike, same size, in black. Ordered it the day it was announced. Took delivery on May 28. Have ridden it over 2,400 miles since. Love it. The stock wheels are pretty heavy and flexy. I upgraded to Bontrager Aeolus Pro 3V wheels. Over 500 grams lighter and much nicer ride. But my wallet is also $1300 lighter. Just don't tell the wife. Enjoy the bike.

    Cool vid. I can't make up my mind if I should get the Comp Carbon or the Expert.

    Some online store is selling this exact 2021 model for 2k usd, used. Is this normal? Or should I be worried it's a scam?
    To be honest they seem pretty legit, but I just can't understand how a bike lose 50% of its price in less than a year. Is that normal?

      Seems like too good of a deal, but if you can verify the shop is a real place, might want to grab it because that is incredibly cheap! I would think with the shortage of new bikes, a current year model bike that is in demand should fetch close to retail still.

      @@aaronbehindbars hey! Thanks for the quick answer. Yeah, it for sure is a real place. And they have like 28k followers on their facebook so I'd be really surprised if it's a scamm after investigating a bit more.
      I don't rally need this bike, but God damn it's tempting hahaha.

    Excellent review. Do you think you will be doing any bike packing?

      Thank you! I have not considered bike packing. I think it would be fun...with someone else's stronger legs and lungs. Thanks for watching!

    I'm looking at the same bike, Ive heard a few reviews saying that if you are very heavy you might max out the shock most reviewers are 150lbs I'm 200, just curios if you have noticed anything on the shock?

    • @aaronbehindbars
      @aaronbehindbars  Před 3 lety +1

      I think you'll be just fine. I'm 240 and do have to run the knob turned up to the stiffer end, there is still a decent usable range of damping adjustment for me. I have some go-pro footage of me on this bike that I need to put together for a video. Stay tuned for that, hopefully it will show how much the shock moves around with me on it.

      I'm 190 it's okay that it Bob's gets maxed out on hard gravel descends your weights mostly on your legs and on the back wheel. The bobbing takes the edge off you will Max it out of you're on the road and leaning on the bars and its not on Max. I don't notice it when climbing out of the saddle even if it Bob's.

    Great looking bike. Can you tell us where it was made at? Cambodia or Taiwan?

    Did you get the SWAT bags with the bike?
    I got the black one and I didn't get any SWAT bags + I also don't have the plastic bottom bracket protector...
    I don't know if the dealer messed up, or they just don't ship it with the bike...
    Specialized is not answering my emails...

    • @aaronbehindbars
      @aaronbehindbars  Před 3 lety

      My bike had the SWAT bag with it when I picked the bike up. Even the owner of the shop was surprised that it came included. There is no mention of that being included on the Specialized website and I was ready to shell out to get one. I would contact your dealer because Specialized customer support has been very deficient with their corporate offices being partially closed over the last few months.

    Do you think a size 58 would fit someone like me at 6'2"?

    • @aaronbehindbars
      @aaronbehindbars  Před 2 lety

      You are certainly within the recommended height range for a 58, but it all depends on your proportions and fit preferences. You might also be able to size up.
      I tend to like a shorter top tube, but higher bars which is getting harder to find unless you go custom or look at more of a dedicated touring platform. The Diverge had just enough stack height with all the Futureshock spacers installed and thestem flipped for positive angle. Ended up getting a 20mm shorter stem for better fit due to the really long top tube on these bikes.
      I'd say if you have really long arms and legs and, the next size up (can't recall if 60 or 61) might work for ya. Hope that helps.

    • @norcalchrismeister
      @norcalchrismeister Před 2 lety

      @@aaronbehindbars Yeah, I think a 58 would work for me because I also prefer a shorter top tube and my arms are not that long. Now I just need to make up my mind if I should get the Comp or Expert lol. I appreciate your help!

    So what exactly is the difference between 9r carbon and 8r carbon?

    • @aaronbehindbars
      @aaronbehindbars  Před 3 lety +1

      I think one R...not completely sure the technical differences, but the 9r is a little lighter than the 8r.
      I found the following on a forum, so take the accuracy of this info as unproven, but it makes sense:
      "The "R" value is an indication of the level of modulus of the carbon fibers; the higher the value, the higher the modulus. Modulus simply refers to the stiffness of the individual fibers in the carbon matrix, which will dictate the overall stiffness and efficiency of the material. As modulus increases, we are able to use less material to produce a frame of equal or greater stiffness than that of frame utilizing lesser modulus fibers.
      As a general rule, each higher level of carbon will decrease frame weight 100-150 grams, and provide a slightly stiffer, snappier ride."

    British = Metric system? Imperial therefore = US? I don’t remember the USA having an Empire.

    • @aaronbehindbars
      @aaronbehindbars  Před 3 lety

      The vastness of the United States, in my mind, could be considered an empire if you look at where it started and ended up. It wasn't necessarily the vision and conquest of a single ruler, but the expansive growth and land ceded following the Mexican American War are hallmarks of an empire. We also have a global currency and are influential in World matters. Also, look at all the KFC and McDonalds all over the globe! If unhealthy fried fast food don't scream America, I don't know what does!
