- In this video, I try out the team that Joseph Ugarte brought to the 2023 Pokemon Video Game World Championships, where he finished 19th! The team features Wo-Chien, which is used to reduce the damage of opposing physical attackers, as well as bulky Thundurus, Landorus-T, Urshifu, Flutter Mane, and Heatran!

You should pin your own comment so people can see it up at the top, Aaron. Lol. It was great to meet you in Fresno!

Thanks for featuring the team! The games were a lot of fun to watch! 🔥
Wo-Chien finally gets some screen time and gets flinched 9 times and put the sleep by Dire Claw for its attendance 😭😭😭
It makes me so happy to open CZcams and see there's a new video by Aaron Cybertron Zheng climbing the online regulation-D VGC ladder in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and providing live commentary as he goes.
Can I get a “Hey guys”
Straight up has become my favorite pokemon youtuber with the consistency in his videos.
that last match may have been the craziest one I've seen on this channel. great stuff!
That Scarf Serene Grace Lando-T in Game 3 was crazy with all the flinches
Lando-T doesn’t get serene grace. It had intimidate.
@@skidMark_69 That's the joke. It got off so many Flinches it was as if it had Serene Grace.
Woooooshien
@@TransparentlyDuplicitous right over my head 😅
Wo Chien thats not stall??? Crazy
Edit: 14:46 “It’s Wo-Chien time” best line ever
I loved it when he said “it’s Wo-Chien” time and proceeded to Wo-Chien all over the place.
Morbin time
Starting the day with cybertron, feels great
Good morning 💫🌞
It's 17:33 by me so I'm ending my day with Cybertron.
Last video: Win games quickly! 5 games, 55 minute video.
This video: Wo Chien! 4 games, 1 hour+ video
Love the content, love the variety.
Last game was SO funny, its been a while since I have watched any VGC content and this is a great way to come back
Live Wo Chien Reaction
You beat me to it lol
Shoutouts to the red arrow in the thumbnail.
Game 3 Ending LOL!
I was thinking of fast forwarding but you made it so interactive to wait for the opponents move to see what would happen 👌
Game 3 was positively mad.
Looking forward to the next "I *almost* got wrecked by this team and *had* to try it." I'd love to see you pilot the team from Game 4
One of my favorite worlds memories was standing in line with Joe and he shows me his team! He named his Wo-Chien, Wo-Champion. His thundurus and landorus named Watt and Updog. Was very fun to cheer for him live as well! It was the only time I moved over from the VGC side from TCG!
MoxieBoosted would be proud
The paranoid thought of ice punch set on iron hands in game 2 and it ended up being true was absolutely perfect. made my night
I would like to see an ability that swaps the accuracy and power of attacking moves. It would be really chaotic, probably need balancing but seems fun to me
Or an ability that swaps physical moves to special moves while it is on the field. For all pokemon
Dude that last game was INSANE like i don’t even know what the heck just happened LMFAOOO love you videos man! And Joe was one of the best trainers to watch this season during the tournaments. His consistency is just unreal
loving the reg D content, and also loved your commentary at worlds!! it was so hype, especially the finals match.
That ending was INSANE! Like always thank you for the great content Aaron.
great video, and a hilarious finale game to close out. the kind of battles I'm sure you're thankful end up on camera!
I actually lost a Showdown battle the other night to an Endure Armarouge making me knock my last mon out with Life Orb recoil... I wonder if it's some niche strategy gaining momentum somewhere. really interesting stuff
Amazing sets. Your pivoting is impeccable.
One of my favorite things about Aaron is that he continues to suffer from some of the worst rng I've ever seen, but still stays optimistic and informative.
Thanks for the content :)
Love the content, Aaron. I finally took the leap into trying VGC a couple days ago thanks to you and the hard trick room Bruxish + WP Torkoal team you featured. I made my first team around Abomasnow + belly drum Cetitan with Amoongus to guarantee Aurora Veil/belly drum with bulky support Fluttermane with taunt +icy wind and Adamant bulky Chien Pao with assault vest and Tornadus for back up speed control + Snowscape. Unconventional for sure but it surprisingly works well in a lot of match ups.
Just went through and liked a bunch of videos for the algorithm. Love the videos man, keep them coming ❤
Thank you so much!!!!
That last game was insane! Great stuff I really enjoyed watching it, especially because you took all that bad luck really well and even managed to still get out on top.
Love seeing these videos, keep em coming!
Keep up the great videos and making me trying out the teams myself!
Great episode! I had tons of fun with that last match
Got to master ball rank for the first time thanks to you. I’ve been playing competitive for a while but never took it too seriously. After watching your videos for a while now I’ve learned so much and managed to make smarter decisions which led to me getting master ball rank. Eventually hoping for top 100 rank on master ball but that’s gonna take a while and I don’t mind the grind so thank you !!!
Pls never ever stop making these vids they are so fricking good everytime i see a new thumbnail im so happy
Keep up the great work
What a good episode. So many flincheds. 😮
I never played competitively before scarlet and violet, but seeing Wo-Chien made me start thinking about competitive because I felt like it had to be a super strong under-appreciated Pokemon. I’m glad to see one did fairly well at worlds. I still am wondering if we’ll ever see a Wo-Chien Ting-Lu ultra defensive fissure team
BRO!! That last game was INSANE!! Keep it up Cybertron 🎉
I incorporated Wo-Chien into my team after this vid and reached master ball tier! Hahaha thanks Aaron
4:26 "Flutter wars" - Bro this is going to live in my head rent free for the rest of S/V loll. It's so good man.
What an amazing set of games!
Last match was too crazy! Feels like it’d be perfect for a game of “take a shot every time Aaron says ‘WHAT!?’” 😹
That last match was nuts!
Gotta love Icicle Crash. And Rock Slide. I never thought to weave protects in when you're in a choice endgame. It was cool to see you win by forcing them to struggle!
Nothing like waking up and having coffee with Cybertron ❤.
It's crazy that the ninja & ape combo picked up after I started using it on showdown
That last battle was awesome😂😂
What a fantastic way to start the day
Great videos Aaron I watch\listen to almost all of them. I was wondering if you could try to call out who is on the field a bit more for those of us who can only listen at work.
I absolutely adore the "live Wo Chie reaction" meme so much that it made this pokemon interesting to me ❤
Oh wow -- and Game 4 was even better! Teaching us and entertaining us at the same time!
I'm liking this early upload
I think the Ruin pokemon their abilities are interesting because it works as a passive. Something similar that might be interesting could be a vacuum ability, which disables moves that fall under the 'wind' categorie.
So happy wo-chien is getting love🎉
Great to see that Wo-chien gets thier well deserved shine in the meta
Hey Aaron, what's your thoughts on Stamina Mudsdale with a defensive tera and AV as a possible alternative for Ting-Lu? Using support Beat Up Maushold to stack defence boosts and the fact it gets Body Press also. Personally I've had a decent amount of success with it and with its decent Attack stat it can hit pretty hard without investment.
All of the flinches in the 3rd and 4th game, plus the sleep on Wo Chien in the 4th, bruh oh my days 😂
That last game was wild!
QOTD:
Well of Hope: All attacks ignore atk/sp. atk/def/sp. def and instead deal a percentage of your level based on the power of your moves.
(i.e. every move with a base power is seismic toss. if you are level 50 and you use a 20 power base move, 50 x .2 = 10 damage.)
Basically nullifying the treasures of ruin and putting everyone on an “equal” playing field.
That last game mannn 😂🔥
Last game was nuts!!
last game is amazing omg. you have to make a compilation of crazy games or something at rhe end of the regulation/year
That last game was just a rollercoaster
The flinch fest end game was crazy lol
This was the secret rainbow effect special day for your opponents xD
“Supercharger” ability that RAISES all Pokémon on fields attack stat by 1… could be nice vs a primarily special attacking team or a lead if you know they’re leading amoongus or cress
As for a ruin-like ability I wondered how'd said ruin mon if it existed where it decreases speed? It'd be odd but good with tr teams in some way
So funny that the last game you get so many flinch
That last game made my day 🤣
What a crazy game 4!
I'm in awe of game 4, oh my goodness.
Aaron I just want to say you changed my friend AHSANUL’s life!!!!!
That meowscara set is so cool i wanna know their team now
QOTD: I've a migraine right now so can't come up with a good name; but have a Ruin ability that slows down all Pokémon by one Speed tier.
Could be really interesting on hard Trick Room teams
In today’s episode of road to rank let us see how many times can lando flinch wo chien, I’ll get the popcorn
That last game was crazy.
THE WO-CHAMPION
I think I’ll be adding a water Tera thunderous to my roster I hadn’t though out a defensive Tera for it yet
QoTD: Robes of Ruin: Reduces speed of other pokemon by 25%. I picture it going on a ghost dark type possessed set of fancy robes, though water dark with the robes being integrated into the design of some kind of sea serpent would also work well. Would probably be the hardest ruin ability to use though, affecting everything except itself.
Does stomping tantrum double in power when you miss and hit with a rock slide?
I'm not sure this counts as similar to Ruin, but it would be this ability:
Chaotic Leech: At the end of each round, this ability randomly targets a Pokemon on the field (partner Pokemon included) and drains them for X amount of their max HP. The Pokemon with this ability healed by this amount. Also, when the Pokemon with this ability switches in, the ability activates.
I'm pretty sure I ran into the opponent of game 4 once. Running endure Armourouge ever since and it's really fun
Last match was so good 😂
Live Wo Chien reaction 😯
Gonna watch this with the face of a live Wo Champion reaction.
Not quite QOTD but related: I think it would’ve been so cool if the offensive ruins (chien pao and chi yu) got a different signature move since ruination is useless for them. I think a dark type move that, after a KO, damages the Pokémon coming in to replace the previous one, like entry hazards would be great
Wow Game 4 was a true roller-coaster.
Last game was craziest i ever seen😂
I’ve been wishing for gravity as an ability for a while so a ruin ability that lowers evasion of all other pokemon would be very cool!
hey Cybertron, long time fan here since like 2013, i'm really interested in competing in the future, i have a question: between tournaments and transportation, how much do you think it costs in average per season to qualify for the world championships?
That last game was insane
Heatran being called ‘hot frog’ in the team intro had me dying
That game four was truly one of the matches of all time
Last game was fun to watch!
This definitely takes the cake for number of times Aaron gets flinched in one video, right?!?!
That game 4 was the most Pokemon Pokemon match I've ever seen
QOTD: This one is tough, but maybe an ability that dampens the power of specific types, like electricity/fire with mud sport and water sport, only without having to burn a turn for setup, and it stays in effect until the pokemon with the ability is knocked out, so different from drizzle and drought in that aspect. For example, let's call a new ability Iron Aura, or Iron Shield, and have it mitigate damage taken from fairy type moves.
While it wouldn't provide a full immunity to fairy in the same vein as flash fire, volt absorb, water absorb/earth eater/sap sipper would for those respective types, it could still allow for a partner pokemon (dragon types, for example) to benefit in double battles defensively. For more offensive prowess, steely spirit already exists, but other types could stand to benefit from having their own iteration as well. Blaze, overgrow and torrent are fine, but can be too situational to rely on as you have to have low hp first. Having an ability activate turn one like the ruins of treasure pokemon would essentially be doing the same thing as lowering/raising sp atk, atk, def or sp def, but for different types AND different mons.
That or just make a fifth ruin pokemon that lowers opposing speed. As if that wouldn't be absolutely broken lol
Awesome question of the day lol! I'd be evil and make a new Ruin ability that decreases the accuracy of all the pokemon on the field XD
Wo Chien's live reaction to being featured on Aaron's channel: 😊😊😊
Babe wake up cybertron just posted 🔥🔥
WO CHIEN!! Love my sluggy boi
QOTD: If the pokemon is on the field *type* attacks are weakened by 0,75x. Like bringing screens for specific type (like Fire Aura that weakens Water e. g.)
Idea for treasures of ruin ability:
When "insert pokemon name" hits the field, all pokemon with a speed stat lower than it have their speed boosted, and any pokemon with a speed stat higher than it is reduced. I was thinking by two levels (i.e. double or half their speed), but just one level might be good too.
