- This was unexpected... I truly thought we were done our first cycle of lambs, and took down our last remaining lambing pens.
But Wednesday night, while trying to watch Taylor, I checked my cameras and found that indeed, we were not done.
A beautiful set of triplets, which I weighed the next day and found that this mama had almost 35 pounds of lambs!!
And... she delivered all by herself.
The rest of my sheep could take some lessons.

I can relate. 45 years ago I had a totally surprise natural delivery of 3 baby boys--one 7 pounds 14 ounces, one 8 pounds 2 ounces, and one 7 pounds 5 ounces--a total of 24 pounds, 5 ounces. At the time they were considered by Guinness to possibly be the biggest set of triplets born in the U.S. Hope all of you--including the new mom--have a wonderful holiday season.

Congrats, even though that was a while ago! I have a friend who knew she was having twins, but discovered at 38 weeks she was having triplets(her mom was an OB nurse and absolutely insisted on an ultrasound) and they saw the triplet! They were born by surgery, the two identical girls were 6 lbs 5 oz, 6 lb 6 oz, and the boy was 8 lbs! The girls were both head down, so would have been born first. They are grwon now.
Wow! As far as I know, that is a record in my book. I've worked in every field of nursing except for the OR. I delivered a few babies, but they can't get anywhere near those weights. I do still hold the record for delivering the youngest mother, though (astonishing). Let's just say she was way, way, under 16.
With absolute respect and of course very belated congratulations, still think I'd rather have been you than a lady I shared a ward with. She only had one, delivered naturally 11 lb 7 oz, she wasn't even 5 ft. I remember seeing her shuffle down the corridor with cushion in hand.😳

Hi Sandi, here in Ireland, theres an old tradition of 'Nollaig na mBán' (null-ig na Mawn) This is traditionally held on the 6th of January and is called Women's Christmas, when all the Mums and ladies have dinner together celebrating women!

I know you have a busy schedule with your sheep farm but there must be times when you are able to go to church and celebrate with other believers.

I think taking one of these babies to a nursing home would brighten up those patients and put a lot of smiles on their faces, or those going through cancer treatment. Something to think about for sure. Have a wonderful day everyone!
Sounds good in theory however Lambs are not potty trained and they can be carriers of zoonotic disease.

But any viruses that may be in the home, could possibly be contracted by the baby lambs. That is why a lot of farmers do not allow the public on the farms. Just saying that could be an issue 😉😉, God bless 🙏 but it is a sweet idea😊

Binging your content during the holidays has become one of my favorite traditions year after year. This time of year is pretty quiet for us dairy goat people so it’s nice to enjoy my small break before kidding but still get to enjoy some baby content 🥰🥰
My ears perked up when you mentioned Mark’s mom is a quilter. Then you showed Mark’s woodworking skills. Mark, make your mom some quilter’s clappers! She’d love them.
My hubby was always busy like yours. Especially woodwork. He made so many multi-colored wooden cutting boards, spoons, bowls and charcuterie boards, jewelry boxes, etc that I’d have to give away stuff to make room. He’s 73 now and not as active but it’s what he loves. He’s had a few minor accidents in the shop and the band saw finally got 1/2 of a finger (ouch!) The kids don’t think he needs to be doing woodworking anymore but I know he’ll actually live longer in the shop!
