Actually I have to disagree with you on the Do-217, I have had much success with it against basically everyone who wants to head-on against my 4 machine guns and 4 20mm cannons. It's also pretty sturdy against the pathetic only machine gun armament of its competition
@@jamesstevenson9056the 217 is a 20,000 lb airplane but the 17 is only 11,500. So I’d expect the 217 to be a beefy chunky tough boi.

Ok to be fair, after spading all of the heavy night fighter DO-17s/DO-217s, I very much liked having all the guns and cannons early game to intercept unsuspecting bombers and clueless fighters who think you’re a bomber until you turn them into a fireball crashing to earth. I guess it’s an acquired taste. Also with the YaK-15, it wasn’t meant to be a combat aircraft, rather a jet trainer to transition WWII veteran YaK pilots to more modern jets like the YaK-23 or MiG-9.
Problem is the do17/217s cant climb so youre normally the lowest plane by the time combat starts
Back in 2015, I loved the 217s. Had a whole lineup for arcade lol. Still fun to take out every so often.

I love that plane honestly. It's genuinely effective and so satisfying if you play it safe and fast but I get why it's not technically very good. Lol. I still like it more than the duck at it's tier.
Honestly, I dominated a few air battles with this plane vs other fighters. My personal record is Havoc and Beaufighter oneshoted and 3 fighters killed one by one by defensive cannon (and next two lured to airfield).
If you know how to use speed, aim and defensive weapons as offensive, this plane can be nasty suprise, if you know, what to do.
I am surprised he didn't mention the Italian 4-engine plane with a 105mm cannon
I prefer it over the Duck (dunno why with the Duck I always end up compressing). But the long reload is a pain ;-;

Ki 109 is a ground RB beast, very good one shot capabilities on light-medium vehicles.
It's a better 75mm Duck at lower br.
i dont really get why he didn't mention the P108 instead of it. Aiming the gun is way easier on the Ki 109 and it's still much nimble than the fat ass P108 with it's 102mm.

@@Damian-03x3 Yep I haven't hated flying a plane more than the p108. Which is sad cause I really wanted to find a reason to like it. I killed like 2 bombers in it after many failed attempts and just gave up, even fully spaded it was trash. I killed quite a few planes in the ki109 since in comparison it was very nimble.

The He-162 is actually really good depending on how it is played
Trick is to keep speed at 600kph at minimal, long range head-on of hit and run tactic, and try to avoid any damage (it has fatal effect of speed)
I treated it like a mustang (side climb and don’t slow down too much) and I really found it to be a nimble and even punchy with the air target belts but holy hell the stock belts might as well be 7.62mm for how much damage they did. Very fun, love it as a air superiority fighter for mixed games until radar AA becomes a thing

I've been using it as a CAP fighter in Ground RB and it's pretty fun, probably my favourite german fighter at that BR.
Do-217 made perfect sense because it was a night fighter. It never had to turn fight, only get on rear of bombers that it detected with on-board radar, and empty the amassed concentration of cannons. That here isn't problem of plane design but rather incompetent game designers who add vehicle to game without even thinking through it's proper implementation that makes sense gameplay-wise.

Ran into a Ki-109 while playing Shermans in Ground Sim, guy somehow managed to hit nearly every shot he fired, allied team got wiped by that guy. We eventually won but that guy was a menace to us all.
It's basically a bomber-turned-interceptor so the gun is pretty steady once you got an aim
Unsure why but that canon is just _accurate._ Unlike the Duck or FC20B, the bastard actually shoots where you want.
@@jessymeowlight5660 The duck's gun is actually highly accurate when you get the upgrade module, absolute shit until then if that's what you're basing it on. If you learn to use the scope you can use it to judge distance and hit sniper shots with it. The duck is one of the most dangerous planes in the game in the hands of a player who knows what they're doing if it's left uncontested, trouble is you are incredibly easy to contest being big and very very slow.
yak-15p is not bad at all. It requires short range shots and extreme trigger discipline, but flight-performance wise, it annihilates any prop it comes across
This guy prbly using those cannons as some kind of .50 cal, spreading boolets everywhere and then blames the aircraft for that. Yak-15 was the plane that allowed me to open top tier.
It's like a 109 F-2, you can get easy aces if you stick to using your cannon only when it's guaranteed to hit. And by guaranteed I mean absolutely guaranteed. You should be within 400 meters, preferably you take your shot at 200-300.
Counter point to the heavy fighter argument:
In War Thunder there is, quite literally, zero chance to use them as they were intended to be used. (especially in the case of the German heavy night interceptors)
It's like being on a cooking show where you have to make sandwiches and being given a jar of lard as an ingredient.
Sure, you could make a lard sandwich, but it won't be very good.
I'd say it's more like being given a submarine and told to go win a fight with a battleship, except you can't submerge.

@@jakubagudza2642 Believe me, i have both SK60 and SAAB 105 spaded long time ago, slightly more than they received tracers. They are both definitions of skillgates.
SK60 IS NOT AN ATTACKER, its interceptor and dogfighter, probly the best one.
SAAB is just... Good?

I remember when I first got the PO-2 I immediately brought it into top tier jets at the time as a joke, but surprisingly got a mixed escort of enemy and friendly planes that were protecting me till I got to my target. I got like half way there (it felt like forever) before getting killed by someone who was not on board with the shenanigan's. It was still heart warming to see enemy and friendly jets trying to stay in the air at my glacial speed.
I can't really put the Ki-109 so high up because it's a good plane for sniping tanks in Ground RB, especially because the bomber platform makes it an incredibly stable plane. It doesn't beat the German duck, not by a long shot, but it actually provides Japan with cannon-armed ground support option.

The Ki-109 is amazing at ground rb, with 500g explosive mass in its ap shells. Would have hoped you put in more actual shit planes like the Israeli bf 109

Id have to disagree with bad manouverablity. And it tanks a lot of shots with minimal const on peformance. I enjoy it a lot. Maybe even the best out of british 1.0 planes.

Yak 15p is op imo. I love it. Just faster yak 3 with better acceleration. Just if you fight against jet engine plane, you fight like a dogfight fighter, if against piston engine plane, just play like energy fighter and that's it
I defend He 115. It is slow but at that BR it’s hard for others to shoot you down. And the main cannon is amazing. I’ve come out of a match with 5 kills in that thing.
Hot take. Ju-87. Why do Stuka pilots have so many babies? Cuz they DONT KNOW HOW TO PULL OUT! Every time I see a Stuka diving, its a 1 way trip. Pancake into the ground next to a tank, and maybe get a kill. Its rare for them to ever pull out of the dive and if they do, they get shot down. I dont even know why they bother having landing gear. Its just useless drag! I dont think any stuka pilot has ever landed anyways.
i use the ju-87 as a heavy fighter with the D variants in air rb, i have landed most of the time
The biggest problem is that even when you pull out, you are going to be annihilated by that 1 ton bomb you just dropped. Or three 500kilos.

The Ki-109 is one of my highest scoring planes in the game. In sim battle it absolutely smacks. The gun is amazing with TONS of HE filler and in sims you can really pull back on the stick and OUTTURN a lot of the planes intercepting you. I have hundreds of ground kills and plane kills in it.
This is a great vid, if you made a series about this I think that ranking the 5 worst premium planes in game would be great.

The Ki-109 is mainly for ground battles. Its like saying the Duck is ass because it only has a 75mm (ig the mgs too) and the engines are barely able to keep her airborn.

There is 1 defense for the Ki-109: Watching an enemy bomber disintegrate in one shot is *really* funny. That's the only reason I was able to spade that plane, every kill was a big dopamine hit.
For the Vampire in your dishonorable mentions I will say, it's a victim of BR being based in win-lose ratios - because many early jet players aren't yet aware of how to dogfight in jets, they get into turnfights, which is the one place where the Vampire outclasses all competition.
Of course, having your BR based on the enemy being incompetent is not a recipe for long-term success, hence the Vampire's 8.0 position being a serious curse. Getting a full uptier to 9.0 often means that your Vampire can't even reach the battlefield before the match is already decided.
The yak15p is great if you know how to use your advantages, such as speed in a dive and energy retention, when fighting props
Fun fact about the P26, pilots in real life also struggled to land it, and it often ended up flipping, killing the pilot. So, to combat this issue, the headrest of the pilot was enlarged (the area behind the cockpit) so that if the plane flipped, the pilot would live.
I have fond memories of the Ki 109. Not because it is good, but because I scored my first A2A sim kills with it against a Pe 8. I don't play sim very much and I am not really good in it, but this is a nice memory.
Also I really like the Yak-15p. But that is because I played it in Arcade, where the ripping of wings is not an issue.
2:52 The funny thing is that my friend actually got god mode in arcade mode with the peashooter (the one with a .50 cal) and he was new to the game as well (I uptiered him as a joke)

I actually really like the vamp but I'm a big fan of Dehavilland so I understand what it's for and how to use it.... It's a jet turnfighter get the bombs, ditch them then use it like a low tier spit. You are so maneuverable that most things don't turn with you.
me262s. their br is broken so they get outperformed on most stats, terrible climb rate,engine temp issues, cant beat jets or props, horrendous energy retention. how on earth no 262s made it on thi list ill never know

I personally loved the do 217s as they were some of the first non reserve planes I got and were very fun.
Also my gunners always had aimbot or something.
I love the PO-2M, I only play it with my friends when we play lower tier jets and they haven’t noticed I switched to it hahaha,
I agree on most of these but th Do217s can actually be good sometimes, even tho they are freaking huge they can shred anything in a head on and some of the back turrets have blessed me
The JU 388-J is a honorable mention in my book. 1st. because it use to be a bomber and is now a interceptor and 2nd. It's 4 forward facing guns are off set to the left while being angled downwards.
If you really wanted to generate heat, explain why overtiered turn fighters like the A6M2 Zero are bad: you can only puppy stomp bad players who enable you to play poorly and every player who understands the basics of dog fighting will see you as a free kill due to how vastly overtiered you will be.

Slight nitpick about the Heinkel 115, a big reason this (and in a similar vain the BV-138) suffer is because their real role as a maritime scout/patrol aren’t a really a thing in WT, even in Naval, though it does best there, with its 15mm nose gun and torpedo.

Yak-15P is a unique and somewhat cute plane. But it's really bad. Can't dive, can't pursuit enemies, low ammo. It's just bad. At least they put one more gun on Yak-15

I had the worst time playing the P-51D-10, F8F-1, Sea Fury, Me-262 with the rocket boosters, and after that I had trouble playing stock aircraft with rank 5+
The Chinese I-16 Type 17 is also a good contender. It has the same engine as it’s 2.0 brother (type 10) which is already a bit overtiered. But because it trades in 2 7.62’s for 2 crappy 20mm’s it’s now at 3.3. All this on an early monoplane chassis with an engine weaker than on some biplanes lmao
To the Vampire's defense, It is a pretty fun plane, I unlocked it yesterday and I have almost spaded it already, If you play it carefully it is pretty fun.
Heavy on the 217 mention. I'm currently spading the last two and I haven't enjoyed them since the og do17z. Practically speaking you cant outrun or out climb even heavy bombers and i think the only way to make them remotely viable would be to give them a bomber (or at least attacker) spawn.
Surprised you didn't mention the two OS2U Kingfishers. They were removed from the tech tree (have since been re-added for those that want them) because they weren't good enough at BR 1.0. They are classed in game as bombers, but IRL they were naval reconnaissance planes meaning they have very little armament. They are slow, not that agile and struggle to kill anything more than stationary ground targets.
Gr1 Harrier is genuinely the worst airplane I've ever played. I bought it years ago and attempted to play it recently since it used to be great. It is by far the worst jet airplane I've ever played. You need to get behind someone to use SRAAMs, but good luck with that, as the moment you are behind them, they are already gone. Dog fighting is possible but not great as most aircraft either outspeed or outturn you; any base bombing is out of the question due to your poor speed, and all aspect missiles are a pain since there are no flares.
Never buy that plane even on a 50% sale.
The plane I hated the most when grinding was the Fircrest, which I was excited to unlock so it could replace the Tempest with 40mm's but got met with maneuverability worse than the BV 238 (yes I bought it before I knew anything about the game) and with how large the wings were it seemed at first the turning would be than displayed on the stat card. Oh how wrong I was. First tried it as an attacker but failed and the tried using it as an interceptor but also failed.
probably i would consider any low tier vehicles for such a limited top
personally i believe the british camberra / the american b57 is the worst plane in the game, it's a jet bomber, not so fast, hasn't a good bomb load, and has no turrets, no guns, no flares. it's just impossible to defend yourself, the only thing you can do is bomb one base and die. absolutly horrible

The absolute worst for me that i even gave up trying to spade is the P.108A serie 2 i need to see people review this plane. Ive had waaaaaaaay better luck with these planes than the p108
I honestly thought the F6F-5N would've made it on. I've heard stories about how bad it is and considering my experiences in the F6F-5... I can't imagine being any more lumbering due to a radar that I can't even use.
the yak-15p still has the maneuverability of the good ol yak3 and the ability to accelerate up to 800kmh tas in straight line at 4km of altitude where your airspeed would be around 690 (redline) besides not compressing for some reason
Here goes my list:
Number 5: the J5N1. It handles like a Ta154 with worse climb rate than a Typhoon Mk2B, and it has only six minutes of WEP on a minimum of 25 minutes of fuel. It's a great stall fighter but nobody really stall fights at a BR where everyone going at 500 ias is already going too slow.
Number 4: Chinese F-100F: Two T160 cannons with 100 rounds per gun instead of the more accurate and resilient M39 of the F-100D with 800 rounds of ammo. And the missiles it carries are AIM9B, not E.
Number 3: The N1K2J/JA. These planes are a massive heap of garbage, slower than the zero and dedicated high altitude fighters that at 7km of alt are still 20 kmh slower than a spitfire lf Mk9 that is starting to choke. They compress into oblivion, and are pretty much saved by having four insane 20mm cannons and enemies being stupid.
Number 2: If you have flown the SO8000 Narval then you can imagine how the Sea Fury flies like, except it's worse in absolutely every single regard except marginally better climb rate and low drag coefficient, helping the plane reach 620kmh on the deck after taking about six minutes with optimal MEC controls. But Bear in mind the sea fury was a super prop in the past; cranking 2980 horsepower and high speed takeoff flaps up to 600kmh ias now nerfed into the ground, barely accelerating better than the J22A with only 2300 horsepower, it will get caught up by anything that is just a hundred calories less of energy stare than you. It's rudder below 500kmh will absolutely throw your aim off.
Number 1: The 6.7 Me262 A1A/U4. Just a very inaccurate 57mm cannon with only 37 rounds mounted on the worst jet airframe ever. Slow to accelerate, stiff and boaty, the me262 A1 U4 has to face more props than jets and this is a detriment because props are going to absolutely tread on it for them reaching the me262's speed in dives while having no chance against them in dogfight unlike the Jabo against jets that could be higher br and handle them with the four 30mm.
The P-26 still makes me rage... I haven't play WT in a couple years.

You forgot the most overlooked and awful plane in game, the J-22/B. No turn, no climb, no speed, no roll, super high br (was introduced at 2.0 but is now at 3.7), and although the guns do good damage, they are all wing mounted and thus harder to aim. And theres not much ammo to make up for it.
The vampire is amazing in my opinion, turns too well to be bad.
Yak15p is honestly a fun challenge the flight performance is better than the he162 but thats a low bar
I thought for sure that the F.2222 would be in here. A flying french brick with a ton of payload but practically no engine.
The Dornier 217 are what made me quit playing planes in War Thunder, since then I've been playing tank battles exclusively, I only use planes when I play with the Japanese because it's the only aerial tech tree I managed to unlock to the late war planes.

I would put the T 2 on the list somewhere its a He 115 but it has no 15mm cannon, and not enough bombs to destroy the base.
The Po2 can be fairly useful in Air RB. People will try to head on you, not expecting to be hit. You can then use time fused heavy HE rockets on them

the vampire is excellent wdym, the only problem is that by the time you reach mid map the match is almost over, but if the team miss some enemy aircraft it can dance around them amd get the kill

Yak 15P is amazing for anti CAS in ground RB. You bully prop planes nonstop for free.
But... I love the Ki 109 tbh... For it's tier it's fast enough to keep you relatively safe if you focus on preserving energy and the 75 absolutely deletes tanks. I prefer it to the duck at their own rank it's waaay easier to stay alive just peacefully hauling ass back and forth across the battle.

i think, if the numbers on top of my head are correct, i have 27 plane kills in it as well
i actually used it to grind for the BM-31 Andryusha and Object 292 events
i haven’t used the vehicles i grinded for, yet

I'm surprised you didn't even mention the P108A despite you literally shot one down in the Ki-109 clip. It is basically "what if we took Ki-109 concept but use a heavy bomber instead" and it sucks really bad.
Even tho it had 50 rounds in the 102 mm cannon, that doesn't matter cuz it is nearly impossible to hit ground target further than 500 meters due to its godawful dispersion and downward-pointing gun. It being based on a heavy bomber also means that just trying to get its gun onto targets is a chore.
The only thing that is "better" than Ki-109 is that it has more turrets, but it is so awkwardly placed that it would often miss the target due to awkward convergence.
P108A is so bad that bro forgot it existed
