      @@HeatherBoydWire And…can I assume that 20g Bass wire (dead soft) is stiffer than 18 ga copper wire (dead soft)? If that's the case, I could use a thinner wire (20g Bass wire) instead of a thicker wire (18g copper wire) to create a bracelet. In this way, the bracelet would be slim yet adequately sturdy.
      Thank you.

Finding your video made it all clear to me. Since I will be making chains, I think I made the correct choice. Thank you for posting this informative video. It has exactly the info I need! I'm looking for wire for clay armatures, one that's a little stronger than copper. My copper armatures break sometimes while I'm trying to pose them after wrapping things together. Is brass pretty resistant to bending as well?

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  Před 2 lety

      Yes, brass is resistant. You can also use galvanized aluminum from the hardware store (not soft aluminum that is sold for crafts/jewelry) www.homedepot.ca/product/ook-50-ft-18-ga-10-lb-max-aluminum-wire-1pc/1001027857

    Thanks for your video! I have a additional question on copper versus brass. I'm learning how to wire weave using copper and loving it! I would like to do some wire weaving in a gold tone, and since gold is expensive, the options seem to be gold plated copper or brass. I like the look of brass but is it hard to do weaving and coiling with it?

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Elena: I'm not a wire weaver. I use 20 g Artistic tarnish resistant brass and copper from Beadalon. The copper is softer than the brass but both are easy to work with. They have gold coloured copper that may be perfect for weaving in 24, 26 or 28 gauge depending on which you like to weave with. Good luck.

    Hello Heather- I appreciate this video. Do you know what type of jewelry wire would be the most tarnish resistant? I’m looking for a gold wire for jewelry making/weaving, other than real gold! What comes close that could last years (with excellent care) before tarnishing? And where can I buy it? Thanks for any help!!

    • @HeatherBoydWire

      Hi Sandy: Artistic has an affordable tarnish resistant gold wire. You can find it on Amazon or on the Beadalon website.

    • @sandyhyun6877
      @sandyhyun6877 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Thank you!! How long before these start to tarnish, have you experienced? I will look to buy the Artistic Wire brand in yellow (brass), rose (copper), and the silver (don’t know what material yet, but I need this color).
      How do you clean the tarnish off these? Do they have a coating on them that I will be rubbing off?
