Ronnie's hand is on fire. his tone has a tremendous barking found only with experience and desire. Sounds like the vicious Otis Grand when he finally gets his cubans...
Ronnies new record, Hope Radio, is out on Stony Plain Records. Released 30 October 2007, and it precedes the release of a DVD that is due early next year!
What a great clip...great playing...great audio quality! Really dug when Sugar Ray Norica was in the line up. That's my fave Broadcasters period! But...this is really Great Stuff here man!!!
I have loved this man's work for many years. I never saw him. Good show. He just never got around often or very much in Texas. I don't get around much outside of Texas...
I had the good fortune to see Ronnie with this lineup numerous times in small venues in and around the Boston area and their was better player. There wasn't a single note Ronnie played played that didn't mean something. He could move you playing sweet and soulful or just rip your fucking head off.he was Bad ASS !!!
Great song! I get more of a Magic Sam crossed with Buddy Guy feel out of this then SRV..... Ronnie has very strong Magic Sam roots I believe and it showed on this instrumental tune.
NDMIKE-Ronnie has not received anywhere near the exposure/acclaim due him. While I have been a lifelong bluesfan and guitar player, it wasn't until the last 10 years that I stumbled upon his work .Once I heard him, I was hooked. For my money, he clearly is one of the all time blues greats. I was not aware that he was semi-retired. Where in NE does he play? I need to make a pilgrimmage soon. Thank you for your personal insight on his humility to go with his artistry.
Hey guys very limited schedule play west mass every year thksgiving wk end although i hear he has a date in Cal coming up this year. Feel free to take a roadtrip we could even put you up !!!!!
Love both SRV and Ronnie Earl, but just to clarify, they were around the same age and both came up around the same time. SRV just made it into the mainstream.
say blues; say Ronnie Earl :-)He makes his strat whisper & moan. And a genuine showman he is! We once played a festival in Belgium on the same day; our -local- band in the afternoon, Ronnie Earl and his outfit later that same night. Our guitarplayer -completely pissed- dumped his strat after seeing Ronnie play, and was found desperate in a ditch. lol ! He had just seen the Messiahahahaha !! For me my buddy is still the best, but no doubt about mr. Earl's qualities. He is Mr. 6-string in person.
@NDMIKE2010 Utterly agreed about Ronnie's greatness. Anybody who ever drags out the old elitist argument about The Blues being a limited form should lend an ear to Ronnie Earl. He's really stretched the boundaries without ever sounding like he's trying too hard or building contrivances. Guys like Clapton and BB King (even Jeff Beck) must marvel and envy the guy. He's positively inspiring. I'm mostly a keyboardist, but I grab the guitar whenever I hear him. Always something to learn from RE!
You could get closer to his tone with CS69's or 57/62 Fender pickups. The Texas Specials are overwound and not as detailed. They do sound great in their own way, though.
funny i see alot of ronnie earl in SRV's playing, the aggressive tone and style ,i think altho i've never heard, but i think SRV took alot from ronnie earl
Some decent moments here, but it's just not my kind of blues. How can it be REAL blues without singing? Not to mention: Way too many notes. Not impressed by speed. Y'all enjoy.
It's a shame that so few people have heard of him. I've been buying his music for about 15 years. It never ceases to amaze me how great he is.
One of my favorite blues guitarist.
Ilove SRV. I think SRV would love this. Ronnie's got his own thing and it's mighty cool!
Ronnie Earl is AMAZING...he's the real deal!
What tone & articulation !!!!!!! Ronnie is KING !!!!
I believe (as do many others) that Ronnie Earl is the finest blues guitarist of all times. Can't get enough!
his strat sound and playing is amazing...>;o)
long life the blues...>;o)
It`s almost worth moving to New England to see him....wonderful live sound on this one....a wall of Blues sound
Ronnie's hand is on fire. his tone has a tremendous barking found only with experience and desire. Sounds like the vicious Otis Grand when he finally gets his cubans...
Oh My!!! What a splendid guitarist he is. Soulful blues at its best

Fender Blackfaced super or twin. No gizmos plays it straight ahead
That's Bruce Katz on the Keyboard.
Ha! Bruce Katz is the Hammond player's Hammond player: he's touring with another one you know: Gregg Allman and freinds.
Please
What year is this from?
Who is on the Hammond B3?

Try Austin ;)
