Here I am at the St. Jacobs Fire Hall for the 1st siren of the 2nd day of siren testing for Woolwich Township. This time I didn't bother with the external mic on my camera as in Elmira it proved to be a disaster on the audio due to the mic not plugged in right which caused hissing and crackling but thankfully I had my audio recorder to handle the audio for the video. Speaking of the audio recorder, later that day I changed some audio settings on the audio recorder because the wind-down audio got quiet and then came back which I believe is due to a setting called mic sensitivity and it was set to "music auto" so during the wind down it must have changed sensitivity modes (Modes are: Auto, High, Med, Low). I changed that to "High (Music)" so the sensitivity will be better. Anyway, the test went smoothly even though I did not know when they would activate the siren for the test however based on past tests I decided they might test at 9:30 AM so I got there close to 9:30 AM (10-20 min before) I saw no cars at the Fire Hall at that time so I set up the cameras and audio recorder. About 10 or fewer minutes passed and some were showing up at the Fire Hall (Township Officials and Firefighters of the St. Jacobs Fire Hall) to meet and discuss the plan for the test and spots to listen for the siren around town and report their findings. Everyone started leaving at around 9:35 AM and I knew that they were going to test the siren shortly because when I was in Elmira for the test I saw a lot of vehicles at the Elmira Fire Hall (Township officials and Firefighters of the Elmira Fire Hall) so they could discuss siren listening spots, etc... At first, when I arrived I didn't know if the Elmira sirens would be activated at 9:30 AM but when I got there they had a message on the front yard on the fire dept's message board saying siren test @ 10 AM. When everyone was leaving I knew that it was about to be test time so I thought the same for St. Jacobs and I was right shortly after most left the Fire Hall the siren was activated at 9:45/47? AM and then cancelled at 9:51 AM (I wonder if the sirens' controls have a timer or if it just continues to sound until cancelled...?) however it seems like it did go for at least 3 minutes.
