This is the second video in the series woodburning tips and their uses for the solid point burners. This video shows the calligraphy point and its best and worst uses.
In the end, I like this tip for straight lines and shading best.
It does okay for block lettering and dots, although I wouldnt use it for stippling or pointillism. The dots have more of an interesting triangular pattern.
Itâs lousy at circles, curves, and curved lettering. Iâm sure you could get good at it, but there are tips that are much easier for these uses.

how many wood planks do you have with the same thing on each?

I find it interesting that one of the things thats difficult with the calligraphy tip is, well....calligraphy lol
Right?! So true!
It's cause she is trying to write very small letters and she's using the wrong side of the tip, use the whole flat edge and keep your letters 1.5 inches or larger.

So with it not so great for curves, why do they call it a Calligraphy Point?
Good question! I donât know, my best guess is that it is similar in shape to a calligraphy pen
This tip works so much better if you use it like an actual calligraphy pen lol. Try using it on the flat side, not with the sharp points.

It's called a calligraphy tip...how does it do for that?
It takes a lot of practice and patience to make this nib do calligraphy. I actually think you have better luck with a flow point or mini flow point to do calligraphy than with the calligraphy point itself
