The most unbelieable thing about this movie is not magic or cheesy romance but the journalist giving them privacy lmao
Even a rat journalist can grow conscience, you know after loosing an eye
Na it’s that someone didn’t smash despite the pigface
I always thought it was because he sympathized with her because of his being a dwarf. It's one thing if she's actually a monster, but like himself, she's just a normal person who is a little different
@@carlycrays2831 probably only happened cause as a dwarf himself he probably grew up treated like a freak too.
oooooooooooor that was rather a happy end and happy/good thіngs don't get that much publіcіty as somethіng dark/humіlіatіng
I love how the journalist sees Penelope and realizes she’s just a girl and not a monsters, so he doesn’t want to make a story of her being a monster because it’s unfair. It’s kinda sweet.
Too bad this guy wasn't the paparazzi in the tunnel with Princess Diana 👸🏼.
Partially because its the same actor.
But this reminded me of Game of Thrones and how everyone thought Tyrion was a monster because of Cersi and then Obyron took one look at him and was like "It's just a baby"
Lemon is actually a good person. He is just trying to be good at his job when he chased her pictures
@@harrypottersnumbrfan a
@@harrypottersnumbrfan i also thought about Tyrion because his message to jhon snow on being called a bastard also has a similar meaning
What I like a lot about this movie is that both Penelope and Max/ Johnny grow outside of one another. Penelope runs away and gains her independence, new friends and self- acceptance, and Max kicks his gambling addiction and is slowly starting to become a more responsible and honest adult. When they meet again, it's because they've both grown separately that they are able to be together. It wasn't either one that 'fixed' the other. I feel like Edward's 'redemption' was a little rushed and felt more of a show of Penelope's kindness rather than Edward genuinely realizing he made a mistake, but that's my only real gripe with the film.
Better story now imo!
You fucking spoiled it
Later versions of the movie completely remove the scene with Penelope's letter to Edward for some reason.
@@striderreborn1467 I didn’t know there was more than one version!
What movie is this ? :')
I think they were too dramatic and she was actually pretty lmao.
I would atleast stay out of curiosity and respect
A typical movie "ugly" so very pretty with one defect (usually big glasses ;) )
@@wojtek1582 totally agree
Yes she is! She should have been at least obese to make it more credible.
@@alexandrabaicu5076 yeah totally typical 'ugly' movies
I'm actually impressed by the amount of well-known celebrities starring in the movie. Not your typical Disney storyline: I like the fact she cured herself by finding herself and went out to find him. Not heard of this movie before. Wonder why.
Never heard of it either. Maybe not promoted.
It's an underrated classic.
Penelope is one of my favorite movies
Dude, fuckin’ what? Christina Ricci, James McAvoy, Russel Brand, Reese Witherspoon, Peter Dinklage, Catherine O Hara, Nick Frost, and Richard E Grant?! Craziest cast for an indie flick, how was the budget for this thing only 15 mil with all this big name talent attached?
I was wondering the same when I kept recognizing all these actors haha
I don't get it too. Sure, Peter Dinklage and James McAvoy were not big names yet in that year. But the others are very big. I mean Elle Woods as supporting character? You gotta be kidding.
It was more of an indie film that was filmed in Europe I think?
It's a amazing film
Dinklage haven't got big yet this was pre GOT, same for McAvoy this was pre X Men
you forgot to mention that the father lived much happier after Jessica was cursed with silence.
and took every chance to enjoy it.
Jessica was a Karen.
@@striderreborn1467 that would be a blessing, Karens are forbidden to speak. hallelujah finally peace and QUITE.
who's Jessica? I forgot
@@roe3805 The mom
@@tsoul1333 world peace!
This is probably one of the most complex stories I have ever heard. The parents were stupid, she didn't look ugly, the curse was a fake really and the guy who liked her caused his own problems. I am so glad I don't have to watch it since I've seen this. I am really enjoying these recaps - saves me so much watching time.
😂😂 fair... It's a fun movie regardless because of the cast .. especially James McAvoy and Christina Ricci
Exactly it’s really just her nose is like a pig and big but that’s all , like he should be able to live with that smh and than everybody else who doesn’t understand her pain are jerks .
I feel like i want to watch the movie now just so I can get that emotional fix the ending gives.
Its actually a movie not a story
@@tadejaivanic680 A story within a movie basically .
This movie drove me crazy cuz she doesn’t look like a monster at all. She’s really actually pretty and just has a funny looking nose- I wouldn’t scream and run away at the sight of her
Real people didn’t, they loved her! It was just the snotty rich boys who acted like that
My twin and I watched this movie so many times, it's her favorite. She even had an old pig stuffed animal that she named Penelopy after this character.
That's so nice. I wish I had a twin.
@@YonUndone3064 i wish , i could be with the twins.
What is the movie called?
@@TV_FireFox7 Penelope
I never watched this movie because I thought it would be a cheesy romantic movie. I was wrong. It's actually kind of nice. I also like the way you tell story because you don't left any point behind. It feels like watching movie.
You should see it if you get an opportunity to. It’s really good. Christina Ricci is a fantastic actress.
This is just like that time they put glasses on Anne Hathaway and tried to convince us that she wasn't pretty 😂😂
And frizzy hair. That frizzy hair dude.
Penelope was ahead of its time. During the era it was released, films tend to have the leading ladies be rescued by some useless guy. In here, Penelope saved herself. Today that's the trend, but back then it was not. So it's a pretty big deal.
Stunning and brave or something.
The voice plays a major part on my addiction to this channel ! Do Not Change It 😐
+ the calm background music
I unsubscribe from channels that change to a human voice o.o
It's the background song for me
There is another recap channel but the voice is just a no this one though is nice and pleasant to listen too.
I concur...it’s the AI voice and the background music that got me addicted to this channel ~the voice & background theme music are just a perfect match....
Lemon is such a good reporter
He has respect
I love the idea that the witch spent years chasing and tackling rich boys as a butler
This is one of my fav movie of all time. Penelope learned to accept herself, her mum learned her lesson too, johnny got his ducks in a row, lemon's obsession with the big story had the anticlimactic yet proper ending it deserved, even edward wasn't just a one-dimensional character and had struggles of his own. a very refreshing subversion of the cursed princess needing rescue by a prince fairytale.
This was so beautiful
"It's not the power of the curse. It's the power you give the curse"
It's not that they thought she was ugly, they ran because she was so different. She was alien to them and they ran because they cared more about their reputation.
this came on autoplay and near the end i decided to see just how terrifying her face was, thinking it might be something like from the witcher, but she's still really pretty by traditional standards of beauty, smh
FR like wtf 😳
read a comic book called Unnatural. she looks just like the main character.
Fr, I wish there was a movie like this where the girl actually doesn’t follow beauty standards lol
Whut? Where? Girlie literally has squeak sqeuak 9000 on the middle of her face lmao😭
@@saumyavig8964 and? It makes her ugly? She just have a big nose and that's all. Nothing horrible
nobody would've noticed during COVID-19 facemasks mandate
Haah..Genius!
Running with the scarf makes it hard to breath. 🤣 It's funny because it's true with anything covering your face.
Lemon has my respect
He is a true homie
I love Peter Dinklage in roles where his stature is irrelevant or only mentioned in a cheeky nod to the audience. Can’t typecast an actor that good, what a waste of talent it would be to do so!
he always manages to entertain us with his recaps
It's an AI not a real person
Pigs are also such fun, honest and intelligent creatures with a great capacity of kindness and friendship. That people would despise a "human-pig person" to this extent kinda sucks. The human part is mostly what people should fear..

Jake opting for sneakers to chase the dudes always makes me laugh
His red sneakers! 🤣
I really like how Lemon had integrity. He could make money with pictures but knows when not to
What a cute and important story this is. It's about love, the power of trust, friendship and family, but most of all it is about selfacceptance.
I think I've see this movie years ago, but I don't think I had understood it the way I think I do now.
Definitely laughed at the image of a nice-looking older gentlemen chasing/tackling those so-called suitors :D
If her mom knew about furries, her daughter would have been married sooner
When I first watched this movie I was surprised by the butler, and in that moment they became my favorite person right beside Penelope.
This is actually a very beautiful story ! 😄
This story is so sweet!! I'm glad Penelope got a happy ending!
I have to say, there are so many recap channels, but I love yours most
And one of the reasons is the background music. I don’t know, regardless the movie you are recapping, the music and your voice calms me down 😁
What the hell. How have I not heard about this film before? So many great actors here. Very touching
“Penelope says ‘hi’”
The best newspaper titles
Penelope's mother overreacting about everything doesn't help. Yes they're from a wealthy family but they shouldn't have hid her from the world. Yes it's weird to have a pig nose and pig ears, but there are worse deformities. How would these "men" react to someone with a major deformity or disability? This story is about acceptance, true love, and proof magic is real (or was real) in this world.
ever knew james mcvoy was in this movie bruh, when i was younger i just thought he was a random actor 💀
This is such an excellent movie. Seen it twice, once by myself and once with my daughter, who also loved it.
Lol. Those men are sooOooo dramatic. It's not the Grudge lady came out crawling 🤣
I’ve always loved this movie. It’s actually laugh out loud funny and super duper sweet!
This story is so sweet - I really liked this one ; )
wow this brought back so many memories i watched this when it first came out and hadnt thought about it since really til now
This movie always gives me good vibes!
I feel like I've seen a different version? I don't remember Johny and her meeting before the ending
Luv this movie. It's so wholesome yet so under rated. Also the scene where Penelope mailed the ring back to Edward is a deleted scene. The original theatrical cut doesn't mention him after the wedding is canceled.
i watched this since i was 7 or 8 and i still love it its so wholesome
I actually remember seeing this years ago. It was an enjoyable watch with some good messages
Crazy story...how ever I really enjoyed it thank you ..plus two of my favourite actors ❤
This was a real sweet story, and the recap hit it all but, I would still recommend watching the whole movie on this one.
I remember having watched just the end, when she loves herself. I sometimes think about it. I really thought it was a cheesy movie (great message though) until today when I watched this summary. I'll have to watch it complete.
Wow you explained it more better ❤️❤️❤️
This has always been one of my favorites and I constantly watched it growing up🥺❤️
The journalist guy is the real hero here, most of the time people like them are the bad guys in a story but not in this one.
Omg I forgot I'd seen this movie! :O It was actually really good!
Still possibly my favorite movie to this day ❤️
im just glad that her family loves and cares for her (instead of like abusing her)
I like how nobody talks about the witch helping penelope finding her true love
I LOVE this movie, it’s one of my favorites 🥰
The pov from the witch would be an interesting one. Initially rage in which the curse is cast for the mistreatment and loss of her daughter. Frustration as solely boys are born while the curse is unbroken. Satisfaction when she discovers that the first Welhern daughter is actually not. Considering how much of her power must be tied to the curse would not be surprised if she could detect her emotions (sadness, loneliness and rejection). The witch became Jake the butler in a bid to help protect the innocent child who ended up cursed. Considering how protective over Penelope Jake must be after it must be a source of relief chasing down and body tackling the shallow suitors must be
Hee mother was so awful, I'm surprised she didn't find a doctor willing to risk the surgery anyway.
Anything is possible if you have a couple million.
@@anitat9727 no, not anything lol 🤣
I don't think she was awful. Doctors said it would be dangerous for her daughter, so anyway no one could risk his reputation
Oh my goodness I completely forgot about this movie!!! I loved watching it as a child😭😭
Interesting to see Reese Witherspoon in a movie where she’s only playing a small role
I mean, she's not even ugly

Wow. It's true that you must love yourself first before anything else.
I love Penelope. It gets me every time.
If if the man determined to jump out the window why don't they put bars on the window...
I liked this movie because I could relate a lot to Penelope because I’ve always felt like everyone I know sees me as physically ugly even though I have other nice qualities
She just looks like a normal person with a slightly larger nose than average. She's still pretty 🤷♀️
