E-book is now available In this guitar tutorial you’ll learn everything there’s to say about triads and their inversions. From simple musical ideas that work for pop and rock to advanced use of triads and inversions to create new sounds with these basic musical blocks. We’ll explore the basics of triads and inversions, see how they are played on the guitar and how to use them in voice leadings to create smooth chord transitions. You’ll learn also how to superimpose triads over chords to create chord extensions.
We’ll also see famous songs that use triads like Running with the Devil by Van Halen, Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne, Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie, Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2, All right now by the Free and more.

Very clear and straightforward lesson on triads. There are several places where the graphic is wrong though, showing the notes a half step lower on the fretboard, which is a bit confusing if you're not 100% familiar with the notes on the fretboard (why does this just sound so wrong?) 7:08 the root position, 8:42 all of them, 9:06 all of them.

  • @macfreak18

I jump around a lot on CZcams and have learned a lot of things from a lot of different creators. My guitar has too high an action so I avoided the hell out of chord theory once I found out about barre chords... still trying every once in a while but mostly just practicing open and power chords just to keep in touch with chord theory.
I'm still a beginner, but every triad video I'd find wouldn't jive with me, I'd tune out. Perhaps it is just that I now know the pentatonic scale as well as major and minor (now the pentatonic phrygian variation) that I find I'm looking for the challenge of chords, maybe it was because you also introduce inversions, whatever it is thank you for making this simple enough to understand. I'm not even done watching the video!

Fantastic video- those charts are going to help me a lot. But also, I don’t know if it’s the best choice to use that detuned, fuzzy tone for showing people what different voicings of chords sound like. Haha it makes it a little unclear when you’re listening to the same notes in different orders & trying to detect fairly subtle distinctions.
