Let's be real, the absolute first thing we all did was smell it!!
My Steam Deck LE with a Killswitch travel case is my favorite electronic device I have ever owned. Having every Dark Souls game and Elden Ring, , all of my favorite indies, Windawker HD, Metroid Prime Trilogy, every Super Metroid ROM hack, every Castlevania game, thousands of SNES/NES/DS/GBA/3DS ROMS, and more - all on one handheld, complete with box art for every game is something I have dreamt about for years.
How do I get that setup easily installed in a short amount of time?
@@casedistortedbest way to do it is preinstall everything overnight then spend maybe a couple hours organizing the next day after it's all done.
I’m getting mine today and this is pretty much what I’m salivating over. Can’t wait!!
@@teejmorrison Awesome enjoy! I still use mine every single day. It has effectively replaced my Switch and even my PC (unless there’s a very graphic-demanding game that just runs better on PC. Then I’ll just stream it to the Deck with Moonlight)
I collect a lot of games, and I've made healthy use of emulation over the years but man someone bought one of these for me and I can't wait to have something where most of what I play is combined into one ecosystem. Man I'm excited to mess around with this.
I just finished installing a 2tb and 512sd into my 512 OLED model as well.
So far installed genesis and few saturn games vis emulators. I like the tips to adjust power output, that'll come in handy.
One thing I didn’t realise is the Deck’s micro SD card slot maxes out at 100mbps read speed. So there’s no point splashing out on a fast SD card (like I did). I thought my card was a dud until I looked into it further. Fast cards will work just fine, but they won’t make any difference in terms of speed 😅
heartbreaking news, My sandisk extreme pro is coming in today. guess I didnt need the pro
Correct but you will get a boost when downloading and installing games as typically A2 cards have faster write speeds than A1, however; you're correct in thinking you won't get a boost when playing games etc.
Well, maybe the faster card will be useful in the future though. I bought a 1TB A2 on a really good sale the other week for $55 so it made sense. Working great on my LE OLED.
@@tappersreviews4677the Deck 2 might! You won’t have to repurchase
Yeah, the Switch does this too, not sure why.
Dope. Finally someone that gets it. Get the cheapest OLED version, then modify it yourself later as you want / need. Nice video King.
Thanks the author for the video. I really enjoyed it, and found those tips very useful for my own steam deck! But what tip I can especially use for my oled?(excluding those in video) thank you!
I need a opinion, I want to get the oled 1tb etched screen, but I also want to get a screen protector to keep it protected, should I get the matte anti glare screen protector? Will it make the display worse? What should I do?
Which controller setup are you using for gamepass? I can't get the d pad working.
Huffing the sweet sweet Steam Deck exhaust. But IMO I bought the base model and put on a cheap $8 matte screen protector and swapped the 64GB NVme drive with a 2TB one for $180. Much cheaper option than buying the top model.
TY I just bought the Limited Edition for my son for Christmas. ❤
wow... he's going to have a great Christmas.
Hi! Is your son still celebrating Christmas?
Tip 8 Don't buy the PS Portal... (shots fired)
Exactly!
It’s the truth😂
You have to be brain dead to buy that crap.
PS Portal lol
Yeah, enjoy all that game configuring on your Deck kid...lol
Where do you buy the shell in this video? Love your tips and tricks
Hi! Im still waiting for mine to be delivered and doing video research bout what to do initially. Whats your take regarding Decky, Heroic, and Lutris?
what light grey case are you using there ?
I have the LE (love it!) with etched glass screen. Will a screen protector in any way harm the etching over time? That's my main concern. I put a JSAUX glossy protector on my wife's 512GB OLED and it looks great, but still not sure what to do with my etched LE.
I never sniffed mine I just upgraded it to a 2tb ssd simple
I have an extra screen protector from D Brand. Would that ruin it or nh?
I need some help with my steam deck, there was nothing wrong then I must’ve pressed the wrong button when it was on desktop mode. Now I’m using the pointer on the touchscreen. It just keeps opening blue boxes and won’t work regularly as the pointer was before. Is there a way to fix this? It was working fine until I was downloading something and must’ve pressed the wrong button. Now I moved the cursor with my finger across the touchscreen. It just keeps like opening these blue boxes that can highlight things. How do I stop it from doing that and get it back to normal?
Where are the links for the gamepass, proton, emu deck tutorials?
So I was debating if I should get the 512 of 1 tb but it seems like your 512 is just as good as the 1tb if not better so I might just copy and paste play it safe
Super useful tips. Thanks so much!!
hi i buy oled at hk this week but i dont know what i need for sd....and it can oc?
Emudeck has an option in the menu to add cloud streaming and remote play without faffing
I keep seeing all these videos saying to set up decky loader, but no matter how I go about it, decky loader won't install on my oled
Which A2 card do you recommend for this?
What's the case you got on? Currently trying to buy one and a screen protector ASAP as my OLED just got shipped!
Skull & Co GripCase, I love it! Did a dedicated video on it a while back here czcams.com/video/YlHfBdAm4ug/video.htmlsi=NzLyvJDuSdrQZjPI
Great Tips! Thank you very Much 😎
What case is that you have on?
Very informative video, thank you.
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed the video!
Dude I have etched glass & wanna add a screen protector, is there anyway around it??? I don’t wanna make my desk glossy & matte protector gunna make color more dull!
Not really, sadly! You have to either take the hit and make it glossy or reduce image quality via an anti-glare protector. Best thing is to be really careful with it and use a case at all times!
@@128KB appreciate the response, guess I gotta thug it out, great video btw your the only person give details & answer my question.
BTW What case are you using
I put a matte over the etched glass and really I can’t see a difference, unless I’m extremely nit picking.
How do u upgrade the storage??
Nice video! What game was it at 1 Minute? Would be cool in future videos where you showcase with a game to have a small pop-out with the game name in the corner.
Can you put anti glare protector on an etched glass screen protector. I have a LE steam deck and i love etched glass but i also want to protect the screen… worried about being too blurry with double anti glare glass property. Can you test this?
Sadly I can't test this as I don't have a 1TB model with etched glass to test it with :( I think it will affect image quality but hopefully not too much? Depends how much you want to protect the screen! I will test the modcase face plate on the skull & co soon too, I'll get back to you.
I also have the LE and am torn about screen protectors with it. My main concern is whether a screen protector's adhesive would harm the etching over time. If I do put one on, I will probably just use a glossy to get the clearest image. I do really like the etched effect on reflections, though. I kinda wish Valve hadn't forced the etching so we could just choose a screen protector to get a similar effect or not.
I have the 1tb model. I bought an anti glar screen protector. I cant see any overall difference. It's worth the security feeling. So i suggest doing it.
@@LoverlyLargo oh cool it's not too blurry and all? I put a glossy protector on it but the finger prints are driving me crazy lol
@Jay-zr8kx before i put it fully on. I placed it over the top to see what it did and myself and two other saw nothing to negligible difference.i was actually surprised how good it was.
What is that protector guard you have on the steam deck?
Glare isnt as bad as everyone makes it seem. I love me a glossy oled screen so i got the glossy screen protector for my limited edition oled
Would having an ssd upgrade vs SD card be better ? Wouldn’t games load and perform better off the ssd ?
Absolutely, SSD upgrade is infinitely better but of course requires a lot more steps.
@@128KBhow much better are we talking? I am a casual console gamer so I know nothing about this stuff. Would game… load faster or something?
Those in doubt about upgrading you LCD deck. Just do it as the Oled is beautiful and yes that performance level alone is massive. Not to mention how much lighter they made it. Can't wait now for the window drivers and play cod on it
Now I'm curious with the weight. My hands were getting numb lately when I play in bed lol
@@benedictpayot9527 I had a similar problem. For me the solution was to change my hold/grasp of the steam deck. Definitely fix this as poor circulation can cause damage to your hands in the long-run. (i.e. arthritis)
It's not worth the upgrade if you already have an LCD deck
@@Playerz714 It totally is worth the upgrade, you need to have it in your hands to appreciate it.
I ordered an OLED steam deck for all the little extra improvements (because I already wanted to get a steam deck anyway), but OLED itself is a huge gimmick. The lighter weight is a genuine positive, especially for handheld devices (to be clear in the deck's case it's not about the 30g difference in the final product, but about the fact that the screen is actually way more than 30g lighter and they used most of those weight savings on upgrading the battery and cooling system, which are the big reasons I'm buying an OLED deck over an LCD one), but be aware that you are either going to deal with drastically reduced image quality on a much shorter timeframe than an LCD (to the point that in a couple of years you can expect your OLED screen to look worse than a LCD screen would after two years, and the colour balance to be way off), or with replacing your screen every year or two to get around this issue.
This is because blue OLEDs decay faster than red and green OLEDs, and all three decay MUCH faster than LCD filters on a regular LED-lit screen. This has been an issue since the technology was invented and while there's been a lot of work done to get around it the solutions still generally boil down to variations of "run twice as many blue OLEDs at half brightness so they decay slower," "adjust the colour balance once a month" and "just replace it; what are you, poor?" I would never, ever buy a piece of technology just for an OLED screen, because the blacker blacks and lighter weight do not make up for the short lifespan imo.
What’s happens if you put a glossy screen protector on an anti-glare screen? Does it cancel out the anti- glare?
Disclaimer that I haven't tried it or anything but speaking from the standpoint of physics, depending on the adhesive used and the microscopic structure of the etching, it should at least be possible. If the adhesive's molecules are small enough to snugly fit in the trenches from the etch it should make the etch completely invisible while the surface of the protector becomes the visible surface of the screen. Think about what happens when you wet the surface of matte translucent plastic, the way it becomes fully transparent instead. Same concept.
Just got me a steam OLED . I don’t have a pc but I used to have one and I have back logs of steam games there. Now I can play them on the go😂
are you using wifi6E ?
Raw dogging my Steamdeck, thanks for the great idea.
awesome video just bought mine thank u so much
dont you ruin the warrenty by changing the internal drive?
What’s that green case you have around yours?
Skull & co gripcase, we've got a video on the channel!
So for 1TB Oled what tempered glass should I use ?
As he stated u either take the L with it and have glare or bad visuals or dont use one the end
Can you quickly check if you can fit jsaux modcase face plate on skull and co grip case?
Tip: use a 2230 size m.2 ssd, not just any size! I'd recommend the Teamgroup MP44S personally.
any reason why ?
Hard to do all of that when it is not connecting to wifi ..why is no one talking about this issue
What case is that?
I want to buy a steam deck Oled but I'm not sure I'll use it.
Is it possible for anyone to post links for emudeck and gamepass tutorials? Thanks!

What side scroller is that at the end ?
dead cells
love that game
doing all these things when my deck comes
Whats the name of the game showcased after 0:55 ?
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart :)
Does some of the deck oled not have the orange accent color? Cause I've seen most with orange analog sticks
The ones with the orange accents are the Limited Edition OLED models.
0:28 OLEDeck matte versus matt-er, Andy?!
Can you play modded games or add mods with steam deck ?
Honestly, I just turned it on a started playing 😂😂😂 this video made me feel like a technology newb
What’s that gray case thing he has on there?
Skull & co gripcase, videos on the channel
Like your video I was wondering what Is the name of that star wars game you are playing.
It's Star Wars Squadrons!
Thanks
I have a must do feature and its to do with preserving the screen from burn in. I know how to install games and have the screen fully turn off and still download games :)
Oh really?! Please enlighten us! I've just been putting the screen to as dim as possible lol, forgot to mention that as a tip!
why the deck still can't go into a sleep mode and still download games in the background is ridiculous
@@califpvIt's a limitation of the CPU. You can guarantee the next deck iteration will certainly allow this
@@128KBI've uploaded a vid on the topic less than a week ago, dont mean to self promo but check it out if you're curious
Maybe he's just referring to docking it so the internal display goes off. I do that for overnight downloads. Valve really needs to add a proper screen off time for downloads, though. On LCD maybe it wasn't so important, but on OLED with its relatively limited lifespan, it would be a welcome feature.@@128KB
What star wars game was that ?? At the start
Star wars squadrons
What was the game in tip 1 with the little elf guy??
Ratchet and clank rift apart
Man, looking at this beauty makes me wanna sell my Switch OLED and just get this instead. So much more possibilities.
That's what I did and don't regret it one bit
Yeah this is such an incredible device. If you're even remotely into PC gaming, have a Steam account already or even just wanting to experience soooo many more games on the go, then this is fantastic. The 90Hz HDR OLED display is gorgeous!
@@128KB I want to experience gran turismo 2 on the go to remind myself of my childhood :D switch can't give me that
Keep the switch and buy the deck... 😊
@ArturKwaszyn switch can't give you anything lol except mario, zelda and donkey kong, plus switch game prices never drop plus the quality and frame rates of many titles are atrocious at full price at that,I was more than happy to sell my special edition zelda switch oled the minute the deck oled was announced, there is no comparison and this coming from a use to be due hard switch fan.
Does the screen feel too small? Or just right?
Perfect in my opinion! Much better than the LCD size
Got 1 tb for more modern games and 512gb sd card for emulation and old games. The best my decision
What game was that? at 7:48?
dead cells?
psshh easy. I remembered back in my days where i had to hack my battery in my psp lol a little scary when it didnt cut on but nothing i couldnt fix. Why did we have to do that again?
I would like to buy a steam deck mug 😊
So if I have a game pass, then I can play all my games on steam deck?
Game pass games yes, however they'll be streamed not downloaded so you'll need a good internet connection for it. There's now a better way of putting game pass on steam deck than the one I described in this video. I'll make a video about the new way next week!
You convinced me against buying a Rog Ally Extreme, due to one simple fact, ease-of-use. I have a PC and the headach with it sometimes is enough off-putting to not play game at all, I want something plug and play, been enjoying my switch lately a lot more due to that aspect.
"it's super easy to do" but doesn't tell us how.
I didn’t know this was a how to video
I'd hoped they made the 1TB with a glossy screen.. Guess I'm the odd one out, can't stand anti-glare screens 😂
Nah I 100% agree, I'd always choose gloss and then at least you can add anti glare after if needs be
Correction. Micro SD cards go up to 2 tb
Possibly but not with any usable speeds for the SD. SanDisk 1.5TB A1 is the largest.
which case are you using in the video?
Skull & Co GripCase, I love it! Did a dedicated video on it a while back here czcams.com/video/YlHfBdAm4ug/video.htmlsi=NzLyvJDuSdrQZjPI

So "128KB" has 28K subscribers eh? Nice number.
Hadn't even realised that 🤣😁
Are you also doing other channels you sound like the same guy as vampire vape CZcams channel.
the day job secret is out ;)
Why do you guys claim gamepass works. It does not.
Yes you are able to run the game however because you run it in a browser the controls are messed up.
Mine did not work at all.
It works perfectly when it's set up correctly, start again and follow a guide step by step. Or pay $5 on steam for XBPlay and it does it all for you, plus you can remote play our Xbox that way too.
In my professional opinion, the Steam Deck presents itself as a viable alternative to the Xbox console. For individuals who are weary of the constant rumors, uncertainties, and unfulfilled promises associated with Microsoft's Xbox, I can empathize with their frustrations. While I previously held a positive regard for the Xbox, their persistent shortcomings and broken commitments have eroded my trust in their brand. Consequently, I have made the decision to transition to the Steam Deck as my preferred gaming platform.
Additionally, it has come to my attention that the Xbox Series X/S consoles tend to generate excessive heat, which raises concerns regarding their user-friendliness and overall performance.
turn it on and smell the vent *video ends*
oled cost almost like asus rog ally
Seems like steam is so far ahead of Sony and PlayStation when it comes to giving gamers what they actually want. Customize your games however you want.
Feedback to your videos: 4:10 you say it's super easy to do, just show it instead of stating it's easy. and Tip 4. People don't know what they can do, and you said yourself that you didn't bother yet. which means why should they bother. Tip 7. You talk about performance settings but you aren't actually changing anything, and showing like differences. so it's more like "hey you can enable overview, go check out yourself" personally i just think, why not read it from a tweet or discord announcement then. anyhow thx for video, good luck with channel, it's just merely feedback.
Wait... F-Zero GX 😳
Yep! Had to be done! You can run it widescreen too and 2-3x resolution!
As of this post, you can buy a 2tb ssd
Add more built-in memory and completely void your warranty.
Scalpers here in my country sell it for 2x 😢 Here in Asia, steam deck only sells/deliver at Japan, then in other Asian countries scalpers are the only sellers😢
That really sucks 😭
Why are you yelling? I'm right here!
I'm not and you're not right there, you're likely extremely far away from me 🤷♂️
Rawdog it 😂
Im returning my oled model , its ridiculous how many games are not supported on a platform that owns the handheld and also restricts being able t oplay from other platforms so much, most games I play tested sitting around 40fps only getting higher with significantly low settings
Its a glorified indie machine. And that for 600 euro. My ps5 is doing way better 😂
I already did all this I’m soo much faster than you
Strange, I see no videos on your channel lol
"It's easy" (goes into complicated instructions) lol
It is easy just thought that was funny
😂😅❤
1. Sell it
No
I sold it back to myself for £0
"Completely elimates all glare"
*slightly tilts the device*
*entire screen becomes white*
Hmmmmmmmmmmm 😑
It's not a black hole, physics still applies lol, you know what I'm saying. If this wasn't applied that would have had severe reflections.
@@128KB My point was that you not only still have glare, but now that glare encompasses the ENTIRE screen, rather than just one section.
