    Great vid. I’m curious to get your feedback on a question. 2003, bit of background on car... 15p auto D2, EGR delete, mid box delete, decat, 22 psi , Map as well. I’m getting high EGT 700+ when driving at 90km +, I’m desperate to drop these down. I’ve had 2 schools of thoughts. Option 1. Replace the intercooler with a high performance unit like serck, Ali, etc...and check exhaust flex housing bore as it maybe smaller than 2.5 inch. Option 2. Go to a 3 inch exhaust mandrel. However it looks like the turbo dump pipe is 2.75 inch bore. But not positive on that.
    So love to hear your thoughts. Also would porting the exhaust manifold and turbo inlet help? Also would the hybrid chra help reduce EGTs? I noticed you don’t run a EGT sensors. Cheers

    • @CarJunkeez
      @CarJunkeez  Před 3 lety

      Cheers 😁 yes definitely go for a larger intercooler and make sure you have a decent well flowing air filter setup. A decent chra with a billet wheel will help a little and good exhaust flow and porting with definitely help but mostly it will be down to the map as you need to match the fuel to air ratio on boost to keep the egt’s down, I use a lambda sensor in the exhaust pipe on the Dyno to do this when I map but you could use egt sensors but there’s lag and a bit tricky but can be done successfully 👍

    • @CarJunkeez
      @CarJunkeez  Před 3 lety

      I mostly use the 3/8 mate, just be carful not to use it to tighten to tight like a ratchet or arm as it will snap the pin in the mechanism, I did it and had to order one from America 😂

    Hi mate,having so many problems with my disco 2 TD5,would you continue with it or replace it with a 300tdi?I have already thown my checkbook at this engine and I'm so pissed at the unreliability that I can't trust it anymore.I have bought a 300tdi already.Just need to confirm I going in the right direction.

    • @CarJunkeez
      @CarJunkeez  Před 4 lety +1

      The TD5 is my favourite Land Rover engine and I’ve never had many reliability problems in my defender but the D2 is usually let down by to many electrical related problems as they have far to much going on like the body computer and failing fuse boxes and immobiliser issues. The best thing a D2 could do with is all the vehicle loom being replaced with a defender one and making everything simple and run an immo free ecu and make your own immobiliser. I do also love the simplicity of the 300 and 200tdi though, especially how good they run under water 😂

    hi i have a 2003 discovery td5 not had it long but when i stat to move off my foot to the floor and it crawls lacks power and its scary when leaving a busy junction im not clued up to much on dignostics but ive done i think a volt meter test on the maf sensor andit reads o.o.5volts and doesnt move when i press throtle is maf sensor bad and what cn i do to solve this ive looked at your video of you fitting a new hybro turbo and you mensioned you bypased the maf can i do this myself and what do i need pat wise many thanks sandy mckinney from scotland uk

    • @CarJunkeez
      @CarJunkeez  Před 4 lety

      Hi Sandy. It does sound like you have a bad MAF as you should have from 0.2v to 4.8v on one pin that increases as there more air flow. You should only get bad throttle response up to around 15 seconds after start up though as the ecu is designed to go into a default value after recognising a faulty MAF. Try with the MAF unplugged and wait 30 seconds after start up then see if you get good throttle response, if you don’t then it’s not just the MAF that’s faulty.
      On my 15p ecus I can disable the MAF by modifying some hex code to make it like a 10p ecu as the 10p only use the MAF to control the EGR valve and we all blank that off anyways as they are useless.
      You can actually run no MAF as it is but you just have to wait each time on start up a few seconds before you get throttle response, I do also modify the maps on my 15p ecus to suit no MAF too as the 15p ecu does use the MAF to control a small amount of fuelling but the majority it controlled by the MAP sensor, it’s probably worth cleaning your MAP sensor too.
      Thanks
      Shane

    • @CarJunkeez
      @CarJunkeez  Před 4 lety

      No the engine won’t cut out with the MAF unplugged, it will run with default values after a few seconds from starting so you’ll have low throttle response for those few seconds then should drive well. Good move with the egr blanking Sandy and yes the XYZ switch is also a common failure so worth replacing. Yes I’ve seen the trisbeak CZcams channel and looks good mate.

    Would you bother with a VNT turbo or stick with a hybrid?

    • @CarJunkeez
      @CarJunkeez  Před 4 lety

      Personally on a TD5 I prefer a decent hybrid as VNT can be tricky to set up correctly and also are more prone to fail due to more moving parts, although they can work very well when sized correctly and setup correctly. Thanks Shane

    • @CarJunkeez
      @CarJunkeez  Před 4 lety

      Hi Mate, thanks for the compliment and watching 👍 it would be best to fit a 200tdi as the old na don’t like boost, but if you have no choice then you could run say about 6psi and keep intake temps down with decent intercooler or even water meths. If I had to do it I’d fit a small supercharger instead and a simple home made water meths injection switched in with a simple boost pressure switch and no intercooler, you’d have instant lowdown power that way 🚗💨
