    How do you do two top coats? When I do the second it just pools and separate like it’s not able to stick if that makes sense.

      Are you trying to do 2 coats of a no-wipe top coat? It’s got to be a normal top coat with a tacky layer ☺️

      @@NailsByKatieDutra ohhh ok. So I need two different top coats then one with the sticky layer then one with out? I will have to buy one. I’ve always appreciated the no wipe but now i see it’s good to have both on situations like this! Thank you! Love all your videos!!!

    • @NailsByKatieDutra
      @NailsByKatieDutra  Před 3 lety +5

      Yes! A no-wipe is not sticky so there’s nothing for a second layer of gel to attach to. Glad that helped ☺️

      @@NailsByKatieDutra could you use base coat as the first layer of "top coat", and then non-wipe top coat on top?

      @@xXbakacoconutXx yes you could do that

    Super helpful, thank you! I was already filing the edges and applying primer, but I haven't been double top coating. Will definitely try that next time!

    Thank you so much for this video, I love seeing this technique to keep the chrome from chipping. Question you used a no white topcoat, cured it for a full 60 seconds and applied the chrome. How did you get it to stick? I thought you needed to flash cure the topcoat in order for it to be sticky and the chrome to adhere?

    • @NailsByKatieDutra
      @NailsByKatieDutra  Před 2 lety

      No you don’t want your top coat to be sticky ☺️ otherwise the chrome will just look glittery.

    So helpful! I tried using chrome on top of the inhibition layer without realizing it’s supposed to be over no wipe top coat. It looked a mess. I was so bummed.
    Question…does the glitter stick to the brush when your putting on the top coat?

    • @NailsByKatieDutra
      @NailsByKatieDutra  Před 2 lety +2

      It can! Usually I have two top coats, one I use for glitter and one no glitter 😄

    BTW Sinead is an Irish name so pronounced Shin - aid and it’s usually spelt with a fada Sinéad

    Hi what sticky primer do you use?

  • @catpride1323

    My problem is I cannot get the 1st layer of top coat to go on after chroming.
    It just pools and pulls away, as if there was oil there.
    I cannot get a full cover of top coat to go on the nail.
    I've tried using YNs protein bond and LE don't be tacky 1st, and they just dull the chrome.
    Even tried foil glue, and thats just a mess...
    And of course I file the edges, but if you cannot get it to stick to the top, who cares about rhe edges...
    I've asked everyone for help, best they give is try another top coat.
    I've probably tried 10 by now... 😪

    • @NailsByKatieDutra
      @NailsByKatieDutra  Před rokem

      If you’ve tried that many different top coats, could it be the chrome? I’ve never had that issue

    • @catpride1323

      @@NailsByKatieDutra Well, I thought about that too, except I'm trying everything from Daily Charme, What's Up, Magpie Beauty and even the off brand stuff from China.
      I did think I've just got it too smooth, as I do the eyeshadow stick application and follow with the silicone tool burnish. But, other do it too, saying you want that level of smooth.
      I have this problem with the chrome, chameleons and peacock powders. Even the flakes, when not burnished to to much...
      So frustrating... 🥴

    What would I use for the base coat before colour? If you were using magpie gel. Akzentz base?

    • @NailsByKatieDutra
      @NailsByKatieDutra  Před 2 lety

      You would use the magpie base coat for a gel polish manicure 😃

    Do you fully cure the topcoat that’s underneath the chrome? When I apply chrome onto fully cured no wipe topcoat, it just wipes back off. Not excess chrome, all of it wipes off and then it’s a mess when you try to topcoat the chrome. I have a little better luck flash curing the topcoat, applying the chrome, fully curing it and then topcoat again. Any thoughts on why I’m having trouble? Even then, my chrome dislodged some even after dusting it and got on the rest of the nail (chrome French tips).

    • @NailsByKatieDutra
      @NailsByKatieDutra  Před rokem +1

      Yes I fully cure. Not all no-wipe top coats are best for chromes, so I’d suggest using a different one.
