    I noticed over the years that despite taking my blood pressure medication every morning I always had raised blood pressure while sleeping. I then switched to taking my medication before bedtime and the difference has been just great. More stable blood pressure.

    I recently decided to do my own experiment and change the time of taking my blood pressure medication when my doctor said she wanted to increase my dose. For years I have been taking my meds in the morning when I first get up so I decided to try taking them before bedtime and for me personally the results have been amazing! Making that change has resulted in much lower numbers in the morning then I'm accustomed to. After watching your video I'm convinced that at least at this point in my life there's no need to increase my medication. I will be sharing your video with my doctor. I want her to be convinced that this is not just coincidence but I could never explain the scientific aspect of it... I'm going to let you do that LOL! Thank you very much for this video and for your research

    I'm diagnosed and have TIA, I stayed in the hospital for 11 days, and undergo different examinations where my hypertension causes, but everything is ok. In short my doctor prescribed me medicine for my hypertension etc. But I never take them, what I did is search for the best way to deal with my situation in a natural way, so I changed my diet, I fast and lost 13 kg. And changed my diet and I tried what fits me, thank God as he leads me and gives me discernment and answers my prayer 🙏 . I'm fit, I always listen to my body and truck the new food that I eat in that way you can tell which is which, just sharing my experience, kudos to the doctor who recommends the natural way, God bless 🙏

    My blood pressure tends to be higher in the morning and lower in the evening. To manage this, I take my medication earlier in the morning, allowing it time to take effect and reduce the side effects within about an hour. I underwent major heart surgery around five months ago, and since then, my blood pressure has been quite unpredictable. Thankfully, it appears to be gradually stabilizing.
    Anxiety also plays a role in my blood pressure fluctuations. Given my tendency for white coat syndrome, I've invested in a home blood pressure monitor. I measure my blood pressure in the morning and again at night to keep track of any changes.

    I've been on two meds for years now - Amlodipine & Losartan. My doctor advised me to take one in the morning & the other at bedtime to ensure it keeps my blood pressure in check around the clock. I do Amlodipine in the day & Losartan at night. The only negative side effect I get is occasional light headed/dizziness if I stand up or turn my head/spin my body around too quickly. I don't have the other common side effects of swelling, heart palpitations, etc. I first was put on Lisinopril but the coughing side effects were ridiculous. I couldn't sleep at night because I was coughing constantly every few minutes all day & night. It was also disturbing my husband's sleep. My blood pressure was still high because I was so sleep deprived & stressed out form coughing so much. My doctor finally switched me to Losartan & after two weeks, the non stop coughing finally ceased.

    I was put on Lysinopril and I got every sided effect they listed except for my throat swelling closed in shock. I finally fell off the scaffolding at work because I climbed the ladder with a bucket of cement and when I stepped off my blood pressure dropped badly and I had my brain shut down and I fell off breaking my arm. The side effects were worse than the high blood pressure. I decided to take it at night after my Dr dropped my dose from 20 to 10 mg and I was still getting light headed.
    After that I slept through the problems and in the morning I was stable and good to go.
    My little sister was on the same stuff as well and suggested I try taking it at night as she and the rest of the family tend to be really sensitive to it and I tend to have white coat anxiety anyways so my numbers are always high at the Dr.

    • @Mavrik9000
      @Mavrik9000 Před 6 měsíci +3

      I was unable to take it due to dizziness. Later I found that I didn't need anywhere near a full dose. Relying on just doctor's visits for blood pressure checks and medication adjustments was inadequate.
      I got a home blood pressure monitor, the arm cuff style. They are not expensive and they work adequately. Take your blood pressure as many times per day as you can, preferably at the same time and during the same activity, such as upon waking, at lunch or after work, and at bedtime. Remember to relax and breathe. Write down the results and track them over a period of weeks. Try lowering the dose to 3/4 and test for a week, and then 1/2, etc.
      I did that process obsessively for two months and now I know precisely how much is needed. I found that taking half my dose twice a day reduced the side effects, and made it more effective.
      Also note: all drugs have a half-life rate. So it stays in your body for a certain amount of time. It may take at least a week or more for the new amount to settle in, hence the need for long-term tracking. It's annoying to do but better than being dead from an easily avoidable accident.

    76-yr old, two years ago first was prescribed 2.5mg amlodipine a day, than the doze was increased to 2.5mg two times a day (morning and evening). Starting this March, I was prescribed 5mg amlodipine combo pill w/ 160mg valsartan, two times a day cutting in half the tablet. My BP regularly was measured at home below 120/70. Then asked my PCP to lower the doze of valsartan by taking both separately two times a day (2.5mg amlodipine and 40mg valsartan) and see whether my BP maintains not so low from my previous typical physiological level of 130/75 since I was younger. I was Ph.D. Life Science fellow before retirement, read specialized med. literature and trying to be pro-active in maintaining my health, not only following with PCP.

    Also important to note: discuss your plans of changing the routines of your blood pressure medications with your doctor. Because some medications requires upto three times dosing per day example methyldopa. Don't assume you can take all at night. And some individuals are taking water pills which would make them urinate more frequently thus disturb their sleep if taken at bedtime. Poor slThe result of the stated research would be more favorable for once daily doses of antihypertensives.

    A more recent study (TIME study from the UK) did not show a benefit to blood pressure medications being given at night. A third study will be published soon and that may shed more light on the issue. The TIME study did not show any harm with nighttime administration. My take on this is that either time is acceptable but nighttime administration might be worth trying until more information is available.

But clicking the link to it provided above reveals that subsequently (in 2020), the journal published a correction stating the following: "The editors would like to inform the readers of the article ‘Bedtime Hypertension Treatment Improves Cardiovascular Risk Reduction: Hygia Chronotherapy Trial’ by Ramon C. Hermida et al. Eur Heart J 2020; online that the content and conduct of this randomized clinical trial is currently under investigation. They therefore recommend to interpret the major results and conclusions with caution until further notice." Has any "further notice" appeared yet?

      Interesting I wonder what they are investigating, makes this presentation suspect, my Dr advises BP meds in am, to maximise effectiveness for overnight. Lots of contradictory information out there.

    well im being reading about lisinopril. two of my primare doctors says its ok but there studies showing opposite, and you read people here and there, saying same, nurse of one friend tell me its bad. imo all meds have side effects eventually bad. if you need it you need it. i tried the plants way but no yet sucessfully. i been trying cucumber lately and it drops a 10 more points in my case. this its funny idk. i get bph then urologist add to my meds taladafil. then when i use a very small piece. vs lisinopril my bp drops a lot. i skip lisinopril when i use it.

    Does this mean diuretics as well? I take mine in the morning, and my blood pressure is low in the morning (before taking my medication). Also I’d rather not pee all night ling.

    Thanks! I already take my BP meds at night. I take Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker though. Calcium channel blockers don't work by interrupting the renin angiotensin aldosterone system. Does that mean that it doesn't matter when you take your BP medication if you're only taking a CCB?
    My case might be different. I had Conn's Syndrome (Primary Aldosteronism). They cured it by removing the adrenal gland which had the adenoma. My RAAS system functions normally now but I still have a little bit of hypertension. They treat it aggressively because the years of undiagnosed Primary Aldosteronism damaged my kidneys. I have enough function left to live a normal life, but I can't afford to lose any more.

    My physician in Pretoria, South Africa referred to a paper related to a trial with 19,000 patients and recommended that I take most of my BP meds in the evening.
    As it shares the same number of patients, I assume that the paper to which my physician referred to is the same as to one you discuss here.
    I measure my BP most days of the month as follows:-
    a. in the evening (around 17:00) just prior to taking meds and
    b. again about 4 hours later (to observe their effects).
    In the years since I followed that route, my Max Systolic dropped as follows 158 (2021 Aug), 148 (2021 Nov), 126 (2022 May) and is currently around 121.
    My Max Diastolic followed a similar trend from 79 (2021 Aug) to the current 62.
    All readings in mmHg.
    As background, I tend to exercise and walk at least 100 km per month.
    I hope this is of interest

      I think that it is normal for any BP medicine to cause a drop to a normal range 4 hours after taking it. It's like 10 hours or so later one is back to the 160 range. That's how it is in my case.

    • @davidblyth5495
      @davidblyth5495 Před 7 měsíci

      @@franklink9582the paper reports the results of effects of taking the meds in the evening
      If the time at which the meds were taken, were unimportant then the survey would not have had the results reported.
