Me lol, My sister been on so many different pressure meds. I took her off she eats fresh beets everyday and a few natural supplements in which I make sure the supplements are safe and dont carry the bad stuff that certain supplements do. I basically do a ton of research on the labels, from pressure in the 190’s and 200’s for 9 months now shes been in the 130’S nothing pass the 132’S She has not seen a pressure in the 130’S for maybe 30 yrs. I also have her on Liposomal Vitamin C, L lysine, L proline,Vitamin K2 also an omega supplement. I have made sure to buy her top brands and I dont mind because her pressure has been doing so good. She went to the Cardiologist last month for her results on 3 test that we have been waiting on. One was an ECHO of the Heart, A sonogram on her stomach where I think they check the arteries, and a sonogram of the legs. So she has had afib for years and on so many different meds for high blood pressure. I went ahead and took her off and like I said shes been on the supplements only 9 months. We went into the cardiologist office for her results a few days ago and the Cardiologist said Well I have good news I see your pressure is good today the best it has ever been and You no longer have AFIB. He then tells my sister that the losartan must have been working well. I stopped him and I then said to him Doctor here is a bag with the blood pressure Meds and the rest of the meds you have had my sister on for the past years. I said to him we were gonna hand you the bag on the day all 3 test were done on her but I decided to wait on her results since you said these test are approved by her insurance only once a year. I said Here is a bag with all the meds that the pharmacy guy delivers to her and I want you to know that none of these meds thats you have given my sister along with the one for the heart are not the reasons why her pressure is close to normal nor why she no longer has a-fib. I went on to tell him all the supplements she was on and then pulled them out her purse I told him I started her on the supplements and I then took her off the meds once she was on the supplements for a month. I said to him no one in my immediate family takes meds I said were more into supplements. I said Doctor 😂my sister will NO longer need any of this POISON garbage you have been prescribing her. He then looked at me and said he is happy to hear that she is doing so well, He then told my sister to continue to monitor her blood pressure at home my sister them pulls out her notebook and he looks at the most recent readings of her blood pressure and says this is excellent. I then asked him why if these MEDS have so many BAD side effects and you guys think its fixing one thing while it is damaging another why are they prescribed. He said everyone is not the same I have patients that have no side effects. I said well my sister liver was swollen for a long time and you guys not once said if could have came from what you prescribed. I said you know what I will let this subject go because you and I will be here all day going back and forth. I said she will no longer need no more of this garbage. She will exercise, eat and sleep well and thats that. That Doctor’s face was in so shock. I also got to ask him how is my sisters heart now in overall he said the last time she had all these test was in 2021 and her heart was at a 45 percent which is not good at all and she is now at 65 so that is great. I also asked him where can we get a test to check for plaque and etc he claims that test is a special test which most insurance dont wanna cover in NY he said we can pay for $125 out of pocket and he then told us we can make the appointment there at his office once we pay. So I will keep everyone updated on the results of that test. Blessings to everyone on here reading this and I apologize for it being so long.

I was recently taken off any of the ARB type of blood pressure medications, not due to better health but because I have had bad reactions. My doctor found irbesartan, which we thought was working pretty well, but then...
I have kidney disease, and started storing potassium in my system. We did some research, and she discontinued it to see if that would help. Now I am in the 3 month trial period...with a new nutrition plan too! ...should be an interesting few months!
Update: had my labs done for my visit in 2 weeks ...my potassium levels are in the normal range now... but my blood pressure has gone up! Gonna be another interesting round...thanks for the help with my activity level, LOVE what you do!

I so appreciate this explanation of Losartan as my doctor just prescribed 12.50 mg for me but I’m still skeptical of taking it as i suffer with insulin resistance and I heard this med can cause a development of diabetes! I don’t want or need anymore meds so I’m going to try doing BP reduction through food… keto. Done it b/4 and know it works for me. Thanks again and keep up the great work ❤

I just noticed when working in higher Temps, 70 and warmer, I'm still experiencing light headedness when rasing up after being bent down. Seems to get worse the more active I am. Valsartan by itself did not help lower my blood pressure, so Doc added Amlodipine & Metoprolol. I could feel the Metoprolo & those 3 together dropped my pressures to normal. 160mg Valsartan, 5mg Amlodipine & 25mg Metoprolol. I wonder if I could quit taking Valsartan & will probably speak with my Doctor about it next visit.

I have had no side effects at all from this drug (no dizziness, etc.) and am very pleased at the way it is keeping my blood pressure under control. @@otienostevemito I looked back over my old pill bottles and see that I first started taking the drug in March of 2013. So it has been over 10 years. Interestingly, I noticed that the prescription level was 50 mg. daily during my first year on the drug but the doctor cut it back to 25 mg. daily in the second year and it stayed at that level for several years. It is possible he did that because I complained about minor side effects that I don't even remember. Anyway, several years ago my blood pressure started to creep up again and the dosage was increased back to 50 mg. daily which is the current level. I have had no side effects at all unless there were minor ones during that first year that I don't recall.
People react differently to different drugs but I suspect your body will get used to the medication over time. If your daily dosage is over 25 mg., you might ask your doctor about cutting back to 25 mg and see if that helps get rid of the joint pains.

I was switched over to Losartan after taking 10mg of Lisinopril for 11 years. I got tired of the cough that it produced. It got so bad, that I would be having coughing fits in my sleep, or at the most inconvenient time as a musician. I was taking a cocktail of 10mg Amlodipine, 10mg of Lisinopril, and 12.5mg of HCTZ. I got a new doc, and I requested to be taken off of the Amlodipine due to edema as a side effect, and the Lisinopril for that awful cough I developed. The meds were working, but I just couldn't take the effects anymore. The doc switched me over to 50mg of Losartan, and 12.5 of the HCTZ. The doc didn't like how the switch elevated my BP numbers, so she upped my dosage of the Losartan to 100mg, and kept the HCTZ at 12.5. Big mistake! I had some sort of reaction to the medication, because it became more difficult to catch my breath within an hour of taking the medication. My numbers were normal several hours after taking the higher dose, but those effects were scary! The doc switched me over to 20mg of Nifedipine along with the 50mg of Losartan, and that Nifedipine I never want to take again! Normal numbers, killer headaches. I eventually got switched over to Spironolactone, combined with the 50/12.5 of Losartan and HCTZ. My potassium numbers were going too high for my taste, even though the doc said it was "ok." NOW, I am on a half pill of a 100mg of Losartan, and 25mg of the HCTZ. My numbers are better now. I may request that the HCTZ be brought back down to 12.5mg. It is impossible to stay hydrated on a diuretic. Docs often think that increasing your medication for high BP numbers is the answer. It is not! Educating your patients about nutrition, how to manage stress, how to get adequate rest, and how to incorporate moderate exercise without killing themselves, is the real ticket.

I'm on losartan and carvedilol, and I hate it! I told my doctor three weeks ago that my personal goal is to be 100% free of medication within one year (end of Oct., 2021), preferably sooner. I've made drastic lifestyle changes, including having begun the keto and carnivore way of eating on Sept. 1, 2020, and have lost 50 pounds. BP is now well within normal range, even running rather low at times, so my goal is likely to be achieved within the next six months.
I have a weight loss goal, as well, and am doing "Bob and Brad" online exercises (for seniors), so will be off the hated medications soon. Thankfully, though, they're the only medications I take, because I don't even use OTC meds, having such severe allergies, I don't dare ingest anything when I don't know what it will do to me---and I've suffered some really bad allergic reactions to just ordinary OTC meds, especially NSAIDs.

Here's my experience with Losartan. Diagnosed with hypertension (high BP) around 6 years ago (age 50). Since then I've been on all the various BP medications, and had adverse reactions to them all (worst of which is they cause ED - erectile dysfunction). The only BP med group I hadn't tried were ARBs (Angiotensin Receptor Blockers); Losartan is an ARB. This is kind of my last hope for a medication regime that doesn't bring unwelcome side effects that diminish my quality of life. So, observations, after 1 month taking 25mg Losartan daily: almost immediate improvement in the ED - seems that's one thing Losartan doesn't affect (a definite win!). During the first few weeks of taking Losartan I've experienced: headaches, unusual tiredness and lethargy, weak legs, itching, dry cough, sore throats and changes to voice (scratchiness in throat when speaking), plus instances of blurred vision. You're proabably thinking, wow, that's a lot of side effects. Well, yes, and they are all recognised as *possible* side effects of Losartan. At the time they were all concerning, BUT ... they all appeared during the initial weeks of starting on Losartan but have gradually diminished and disappeared over time. So, if you're getting any of these, it may be that you just have to ride them out for a while until your body adapts. Not a medically valid analysis, just my own experience.

The main side effect of many meds is poverty but all ARB'S and their first cousins, ACE inhibitors, are now available as generics (I believe) so don't get overcharged.
