  • As we know a column subjected with not only axial force but with moments also. When a column is subjected with Uni-axial or Bi-axial moment along with axial forces he foundation for that column will be eccentric Foundation.
    Here is the second part of design of eccentric isolated column footing. In this part we will learn one way shear check and two way shear check. Also provide reinforcement details.

    Nice educational video, I appreciate your hard work for this. I have a doubt regarding the maximum spacing of the main reinforcement in footing. In this video you have given a reference of table 15 for max. spacing, but I think it is restricted for tension reinforcement in beam and column only. For footing the main reinforcement spacing is 3*deff or 450mm whichever is less. Kindly correct me if it is not relevant.

    Excellent work. You need to provide min reinforcement in 2 direction at the top due to thermal cracking. Could please calculate how much reinforcement required to prevent cracking. Sometime reinforcement due to thermal cracking is more critical than the reinforcement due to bending! For top reinforcement you could use mesh. Thank you for all your work!

    I have a question.
    I design the footing in same procedure as shown, while placing the Footing concentrically with column, if the Footing is going outside property line , then what's Needed to be done?

    at the time of checking two way shear A to B distance=734mm why =300+d/2+d/2=734, why we no use 300+d=734 why two times d/2 used
