Dan Beardshaw You rock again, sir! I stand in awe...and I also draw a lot more since you have taken the role in my life of “mentor”-I remind you of my advanced age! LOL. I hear definite growth and improvement on your part in just speaking to us on mike. Your articulate and well pronounced language, lovely in consonant sounds, and sonorous vowels, is also beginning to be captivating in the sense that you should like an advanced professor in a gifted class. Your tendency to use “them” for “those” may throw some folks a bit, however, I believe you use it correctly, and it seems your English is rooted deeply in the Old English forms, so them, that, these, and those are often culturally determined in the evolution of a language over a long time. I really really need and benefit from the lecture with the fast images, but also from the slow images: I’m not just looking at how to make the marks on the paper, but also how you hold the pencil for various challenges in the image-like making two eyebrows look like mirror images without being able to completely move the pencil in the same manner, using the same writing muscles. SO MUCH OF YOUR TEACHING is helping me with eye-hand coordination. That you narrate over the drawing somehow makes it more understandable sure, but more densely populated with good and useful drawing info. I have several persons now learning to draw, and it is important for me that I pick up on your motivators and boosts, positive bits you put out, that help students as I need to learn to motivate or evoke motivation. You evoke motivation, and you are teaching well beyond your 22 years. At 72 I have to tell you, I don’t have as much time left to draw as some and your teaching is helping me get to places faster, and still keep the quality. I find your teaching very helpful to my paintings, also. I’m a Van Gogh lover, and a Cezanne man. THANKS A MILLION. My friends are beginning to follow you too, and love it.

I want to thank you for posting this. I am a professional portrait artist that has struggled for 35 years with every drawing. I'm self taught and have never given up. The outstanding thing you show is the patience and time it takes to achieve and master drawing. You are kind & truthful. Your real time drawing is NOT boring. I've seen a lot of tutorials & this is supberb. Again, I am so thrilled I stumbled on you. This is 100 hrs. of classes in 30 minutes.

Hi Dan: I have watched several hundreds videos on sketching from a reference but very few of them were close to the reference. This is the first time I see a perfect demonstration where I see the sketched photo is 100% matching with the reference. And you did it so comfortable and with workable techniques. Thank you for your sharing. Love it.

For me it’s one step at a time but thanks for such practical advice.

What I gained from your video is “patience”. I have an uncontrollable tendency to overwork my drawings by working too fast, trying to correct and erase the lines and shades that don’t belong. I only hope that I can apply the discipline that I see in your work.
