  • Ever thought of having a one watch only collection? Just one watch for the rest of your life, what would it be? For me, at right around $1000, the Christopher Ward Sealander C63 in 36mm is arguably one of the best, if not the best do-it-all one watch only collection.

    My first mechanical watch was a Sealander GMT and it has ruined so many of the bigger brands for me. It's hard to justify spending multiples of the cost of a CW on a watch that might only be marginally better, or may even be not as good but just has a more recognised logo on the dial.

    • @SixiwWatches
      @SixiwWatches  Před měsícem

      My thoughts exactly. I've held this exact sealander next to a Tudor BB36 and if you removed both logos, they'd be equally well built and finished.

    I love that CW are coming to the fore whislt remain true to their principles.
    The Sealander GMT interests me in 36mm.

    I've never thought, "I only want this watch to do one thing." Yes, I have divers, and I never go diving. I like to think of it, purpose first. Does it tell me the time well? I think that informs my bias towards Field Watches.

    I found this channel by chance but it's perfect for me since I have a 6 inch wrist (yes, 6.0").
    Was looking at the CW Sandhurst but this watch is far better suited for me by size.
    My "one watch" right now is the Baltic Aquascaphe 39mm but I can't help but wonder if a 36mm would be a better size for me.

    I’d reject the offer you proposed at the end also. But, if I were to have a one watch collection that is attainable for me. It would be my grail watch that I’m hopefully purchasing this year. The Sinn 556i. But I still want my other 6 watches lol 😂

    • @SixiwWatches
      @SixiwWatches  Před 13 dny

      Oh it does, I wish they were thinner and shorter. The larger clasp makes the wearing experience a little weird IMO. With the watch head being small and lightweight, it feels like most of the weight is on the bracelet, and that does bother me sometimes.

      @SixiwWatches  Před 8 dny

      That's fair, it's definitely not an exciting design by any means. I suppose they have the colorful versions that make it slightly less boring.

  • @turnbasedtoddy7664
    @turnbasedtoddy7664 Před 29 dny +2

    I actually really love this watch, but it is sort of unbalanced. Sure it has a short lug to lug, but the male end links stick out so far that it effectively makes it a really long lug to lug. Also, the clasp is massive and bigger than the watch itself. If you are into smaller watches, I definitely would look into getting a Smiths Everest. I have pretty small wrists at 6.5 inches and that watch wears like a dream and is also 36 mm. Really good video though. I’m glad there is a Channel to focus on smaller wrists.

    • @SixiwWatches
      @SixiwWatches  Před 13 dny

      I agree with the male end links - I don't get why they even exist in the first place. And yes, the clasp is long, and perhaps it's to accommodate for the adjustment-slider, but they could do better. I do love the Everest series from Smiths, had both the Expedition and the PRS25. Great watches but eventually sold them and got a Traska Summiteer V4 instead.

    Everything from this brand is beautiful. I’m new to watches and I’ve been wondering what the difference are between let’s say a 2k Tag Hueur and an 8k Tudor? I understand that there are obvious finishing differences between watches and power reserves but as far as the power reserve, is there really that much of a gap to where it makes a 6k difference? Does COSC and other certifications really make a difference in day to day wear? I just don’t understand why some ppl will say a Tag Carrera isn’t worth 2k but to me it’s beautiful and a Sinn is a lot of watch for 2k but ugly? Wouldn’t they give you similar experiences as an everyday do it all watch as long as they’re serviced?

    • @SixiwWatches
      @SixiwWatches  Před 13 dny

      At the end of the day it's all subjective value. Once you go beyond the $1000 to $2000 mark, all objective value goes out the window. At that point it's basically down to what you like more, and that in itself is worth it. I have a $6k Cartier Quartz, and in an objective sense, it's a total waste of money, and probably $5k overpriced. But. I love it, and it's worth $6k to me.
      Buy what you love man, as long as you're having fun, and can afford to spend on watches.

      @wvlllterrr Před 12 dny

      @@SixiwWatches Thanks so much for the reply. I was genuinely asking as I’m new to the community. I just never understood why a watch was 3 times as much as another if the power reserve is similar? Obviously branding matters but I guess I was just confused as to what makes a good or bad watch. But I’m learning that a lot is down to branding and preference like almost any other hobby.

    Thanks for your review!
    I really share your criteria:
    1 watch brand: i also like a pure and old watchbrand with history like so many brands.
    2. Size & comfort: not too big for my small wrist. For me important: good lume, coz i wear it in the night. And yes: the easy bracelet fly adjustment (which many very expensive brands do not offer!)
    3. Design: im a rolex lover but i refuse (for now😂) to pay those prices!) I like hommages but do not like 100% copy's.
    My nr. 4: like a good automatic movement like up 25k per hour. At least has some good accuracy.
    I hope to own my first CW soon, coz its 100% pure quality and perfection ❤

    I really like the C63 but I think the bracelet needs a narrower center link and it also needs female end links to get the best drape on the wrist. I prefer the look and finish of CW, but I think Traska knocks them out of the park on the bracelet.

    • @SixiwWatches
      @SixiwWatches  Před 13 dny

    I was talking to my son about this idea today. Having stuff is not where the fun is, as it becomes boring after a time, whatever that is. You get used to it, The fun is in the chase. The ability to get into a position through diligent work, to succeed, then to have the ability to chase what you want, because of your own hard work, then buy. That's the thrill. That's the accomplishment to better yourself to have a choice. I've spent 100k on a car and 30k on a watch. I own nether at present. Hasnt stopped me buying more cars and more watches. I am quite stupid in reality 😂 but im 50 now, and you can't take your money to the grave.
