- War Thunder has a total of 10 ground tech trees in the game in this War Thunder Video we will be going over what a new or returning player should pick when it comes to nations. This Video covers America, Germany, USSR(Russia), Britain, Japan, China, Italy, France, Sweden, and Israel. Hopefully this video will put you in the right direction for which tech tree you should grind in WarThunder.

Fun fact for the Swedish tech tree, that I didn’t notice at all until grinding it out for awhile, is that all top tier MBTs start out with sabot rounds rather than the heat fin round. Aside from the Leopards from the finish line
Because all British MBT start with sabot rounds due to British is using hesh rounds instead of heat rounds and hesh rounds in this game is almost unplayable since two weeks after the release of British ground tech tree.

The Italia Tech Tree teaches you stealth, flanking, and not directly running towards the enemy like the braindead tigers
the italian tech tree was my first tech tree and it taught me that flanking and blocking flanks is the difference between winning and loosing
i'd recommend it if you're trying to learn how to flank in this game because the speeds make you able to flank behind the enemy within 30 seconds.

you're supposed to flank with germany as well, even in tigers. Panther is one of the best flankers in the game
As an Italian main. (GRB) Italy trades off armor for speed and firepower. (Take the Breda 501, AS/41 47 and the Centuaro For Example) flanking and counter-flanking play a huge role in the Italian playstyle of war thunder. Getting first point is also a nice hustle due to 90% of Italian tanks having amazing speed. Especially really deciding the match at low tiers. If you study your tanks for flaws and strengths, you will find the Italian Tech Tree to be one of the best at low tiers. Especially for players that love light tanks and speedy bois
R3 T20 is such a menace :D
Italy is fun to watch when it uses the Mk IV and BF-109
Every Italian I've seen is either speeding off to a bush on the side to hide in and wait, or is getting machinegunned to death by me because "car with gun" upgrading to "truck with gun" isn't really a good way to play WT.
If you like hiding and being almost completely unable to defend yourself and exclusively getting points from the first cap of the match, then fine.
If not play UK. They have speed in some tanks, like the South African line, and can flank and maneuver but are also somewhat able to defend themselves with the Cromwell being fast but also decently armoured on an angle, and a solid gun.

Germany really starts to go off at 4.3 in my opinion. the 3.7 Panzer IV's are okay as well, but they often get uptiered, where their one strenght, the gun, meets contemporary armour
German mfs on their way to whine when their 145mm pen APHE round they start with meets armor that can bounce their shells

When I first played WT I went down the French tech tree (because it just released) and around T4 till I got priced out of it. Switched to the US. What the French TT taught me was patience, the grind of WT dosent hurt me after playing T1 T2 frenchies. What the US taught me is god bless 50 cals and that too many people go from tank to planes which means we don’t have a frontline anymore.
Japan is the perfect cleanup crew/early match tech tree, because you essentially have to hide, hit and run, make sure the enemy doesnt have a lock on you, or you can follow the main force, branch out make sure no one is flanking and rejoin, simply moving around alone (apart from in light tanks) is a no go, always have a battle buddy, be a sniper, become a talking tree, or in short guerrilla warfare is the way to go in early game japan
I started playing a few months ago, and I actually really like China. One, because you can access the SU-76M, a fantastic Tank Destroyer that's able to one-shot almost anything else in the early game. And two, you get access to both American and Soviet vehicles in a single tech tree that gives nice variety.
True. BTW the LVT is better TD than the SU76 I have been using it in RB and getting 3-7 kills with it.

The best ones IMO are Sweden because you never feel behind technology wise and your tanks are always good at every BR plus the rounds are often higher performance APDS and HEATFS that let you be confident that you will pen wherever you hit allowing you to better target critical modules and ammo as opposed to constantly just trying to pen the only spots your able too like commanders hatches and lower plates plus your tanks are generally interesting and have cool features and the other one I really liked grinding was Italy once you get into the middle BRs where progress starts to slow down a lot you get access to a bunch of funny unique vehicles that are really fun to play plus have the added bonus of actually being effective with high pen HEATFS on funny cars the only downside is the Italian tree helis are a living nightmare at first and the air tree is pretty mediocre it’s not bad but it’s just very meh Sweden on the other hand has a very fun air tree and a passable heli tree it’s not great at first but at least you get ATGMS unlike the Italian tree where you get 14 rockets and a pair of 7.62mm MGs as your best loadout
I started with British and it really teaches you about shooting weak spots on enemy tanks. The British tech tree has some nice gimmick tanks like the falcon. It will teach you a lot about the game and help you become a better player. Early on it’s pretty rough.
Seems rough, but I'd argue most nations are. Especially with experienced players dunking on you. But I agree with your other points, playing UK definitely teaches you how and where to shoot using solid shot. Makes you a much better player.
When you get to mid tier you start getting tanks with heatfs and Sabo anyway so with britain I just learned early where to aim. I grinded America to 5.7 and was like, oh God I can't take this anymore I hate tigers. But now I have uk 6.7 and when I go back to the us I'm like, now that I know how to aim this is better
My favorite tech tree is the rusians or germany, fall in love with israily tech tree. All are good in some tech trees like 2.7 USA, 3.7 USSR, 4.3 Germany,4.7 Japan and Britain, 5.7-6.0 Germany, USA, French and USSR, 6.7 Germany ,etc. Top tier for me as a USSR main I love it with that 10.7-11.0 and Germany 11.0, all nations have pros and cons but all fun in there way. Love the video😀.
Japan main, no other country and I’m close to order of the rising sun. You’re right ground forces don’t have much to pick from and no foreseeable additional vehicles. The saving grace I had was that I unboxed the heavy tank no. 6 which just allows me to play jermany
The B1/2C tanks make the early french tech tree worry it, at least imo getting rewarded with those early Bar juggernauts for suffering through those other tanks is nice…
(Only issue it’s kinda bad for arcade since everyone is faster and knows where they can pen/can’t and in realistic your really slow but from the front your nearly invincible)
I find Italy really fun, after getting 6.7 in most trees and finishing Sweden. I've currently just got the r30. To grind Italy though I'm using the VRCC and OF40 premiums
It is also fair to mention that playing nations like Italy will help you improve at the game much faster, as you are forced to flank and use speed due to a lack of armor.
I will also say that Japan may be worth it for newer players due to its nature of being the “quickest” to top tier.
I will say China is criminally underrated, for the reasons mentioned in the video, with it carrying lots of vehicles from other tiers, I actually properly played through mid-tier with China before touching USA or Russia at that br, just for the sake of learning both the Sherman’s and t-34s in the same tech-tree.
Going with one of the big three is always a safe bet although i will advise some things, USA does have a certain learning curve to it, you especially feel it whenever you play around 5.0+, and in low tier against Russia. You’ll need to learn weakspots which the tech tree really doesn’t teach you due to most of low tier being low armor and Germany not having anything substantial until the Tigers and Panthers. Germany also has a huge learning curve to it, which will pretty much hit you like a truck around 5.3 with the Tigers and Panthers. It is likely that the first few times you play them, you will get absolutely crushed. Angling is the name of the game with Tigers, and as a general rule of thumb you get stronger the farther away you are from an enemy. USSR is quite a bit more unique and “fun” in the lower brs in my opinion. They have the consistency with mediums and the KVs are very strong. Although once you get back around 5.3+ you will still be forced to learn the same weakspots as USA will. It is also important to mention that both USSR and Germany lack in light tanks, while USA lacks in heavy tds. So make sure you take into account what exactly your playstyle is going to be and what vehicles you would most likely like to play.
Most of all, make sure you are having FUN. The grind can become addicting and feel like a chore, so make sure you are playing the game for the sake of enjoyment and leave the grind as an afterthought. You will end up doing better in matches and enjoy the game more with this mindset. :)
My second tank tech tree was Japan and honestly it's been the most enjoyable to grind out. Sure I have a much better time with other nation's lineups but since Japan doesn't have many vehicles the progression to top tier was 3x faster than other nations.

Chi ri 2 is torture but once you push past that the American tanks are good.

Firs started in the Japanese tech tree, what I learned is that everything will and can penetrate you.
HOWEVER, this tree teaches you to be more spatially aware at the cost of paranoia, it also actively trains your reflexes despite most of the tanks in the tree have bad turret rotation speeds, it most of all, teaches you to be more patient than everyone else. It's painful and not very worth it for impatient players, but can be extremely rewarding if you take the time to learn your tank's weaknesses, and strengths.
Russia, USA , Germany best nations for starting players rest of the nations feel like they need more experience. Sweden might have best shells for low tier if im not wrong.

Japan was my first tech tree too early Japan is really fun and quick up to around 2.0 between 2.0 and 5.3 Japan is horrific but I think Japan has an awesome 5.7 lineup (if you can get the jap tiger) and the キ87 😜
I also started Japan (and still main it). biggest complaint i have is how many tanks you have for any given BR. Japan just doesn't have many vehicles. i think the most vehicles at the same BR is 8.3 and 9.0. that said, nice aviation tree, and 7.7 chopper. Even if you only have mighty mouse rockets.
it does defiantly teach you to be patient, and forces you to learn maps. honestly first time i jumped on the US tree and bounced a round i was so confused because i'm used to everything i see being able to pen me from almost any angle.
Something else i haven't seen anyone mention, low tier japan has some of the best APHE in the game.

4.0 Italy is cracked. Breda 501 in my opinion is the best 4.0 tank in the game, good mobility, super good gun that can one tap pretty much anything with good aim.
I'm really enjoying 2.7 Italy. the Celere sirhanio is so fun to play
I've only just gotten to Rank V Italy, but up to that point I've had the most fun with that tree than any other tree, though I'm only rank 2 or 3 in tech trees that aren't Germany. I start to grind them but get frustrated and go back to Italy/Germany to actually have some fun.

China is my personal favourite.
The M-51 for Israel is really worth it, the 400mm pen shreds everything at 6.0 and paired up with a P51 or Spitfire its fun and you never get bored. About Merk 4, you survive most frontal shots and aps does its job very well while the sabot pens everything in its way (just as all do at 10.0+), so a few backups or having the two Merks in ur line up does the job.
Even tho the M-51 isnt really good, its fun to pen a Tiger 2 easily from the front

Germany is still missing the PZ II L, the Wespe and a dozen other SPG vehicles, as well as other project tanks like the VK30.02D. another note would be the M1 “Thumper” project or the CATTB, or the TTB for the US.
They are also missing a few light tanks as well

I went from russia to Italy and my game became so much better, Italy is great country in wt and german/american parts of its tech tree are really not something special.

I'd say china is extremely underrated especially since they have been getting very strong vehicles especially top tier jets, also some very strong unique vehicles like ptl02, aft09, maybe wz305? To name a few definitely recommend as it's probably gonna get stronger
Edit: forgot to mention china also has one of the best heli missiles (ty90) and you get them at 9.3 which is insane
i am doing the Chinese tech tree and i have been having more fun then agony compared to the other tech trees

Dont forget that China also almost always aligns on same side with rus.
Id say that they have enormous expansion potential as well as basically none of their modern ifvs have been added as well as the type-15 light tank. Obviously there’s a ton of stuff for aviation that hasn’t been added, (J-10,J-11,J-16, J-20[lol not yet].)
It has the best 8.7 lineup from both the vehicles as well as the amount of same br vehicles.
Personally I haven’t done much aviation for China but at 8.7 the heli is ridiculous with 2nd gen thermals and great maneuverability.

I just wish it had ccip for rockets as yes it has thermals but 3km range gets you killed especially for it's high br
Britain was the first tree I started grinding, I have a love/hate relationship with it but it is my highest
i underestimated china tech tree at first but after reaching high br from 8.0+ there are so many good vehicle in china tech tree. for example the z11wa is the only early helicopter equipped with a thermal and the aft09 has a missile with the same penetration as the khrizantema but at 8.7
I’m in the German tech tree and I’ve just gotten into the panzer 4s. The panzer threes and 4’s almost always seem to be one shotted even by smaller Caliber we guns like 50mm
I started US but really I think i'll end up going Germany. I'm top tier in Germany Air RB and they also have awesome ground attack air craft
4.7 is the best grb rank for grinding in britain
If you use the avenger, firefly, churchill mk7, ystevark, typhoon mk1b or spitfire mkf xvi and concept 3 make probably the best grinding layout for 4.7
After i played germany / USA / russia to 8.3 i recently started britain..
There I found my new favorite vehicle in low tier.. The Crusader 3.... that 6 pounder at 3.0 is nuts! ... I can't believe that this thing was 2.7 not long ago...
I have so much fun with that vehicle... Also the churchil 1 is a lot of fun if u don't face PZ4 F2s .
I don't plan to grind Britain further.. I just wanted the early ww2 vehicles and I was not disappointed. It's a lot of fun, when u finally get the 6 pounder.
Of all the trees I tried so far, I would recomend the USA tree to a friend who starts from 0. The early Shermans are just perfect forgiving tanks, that have something from everything..
Recently grindeed up to 3.7 with the UK as well, those cruiser tanks are fun as hell
2.7 is soooo tanky
Britain 3.7 is also pretty good
people say the archer is a bad vehicle but id recommend it as people who says its bad dont use it for the purpose it was made for and mostly rely on aphe for kills
Britain is a very interest nation in game, even if it has been neglected by gaijin, especially at top tier. Britain is at its strongest at 6.7-7.7, because they get fully stabilised, high pen, and good damage (the damage was bad for years, but recently British APDS now hits really hard) as well as good mobility and in some cases like the conqueror, even armour.
But until the, the reverse speed is horrible, -3 !
I've grinded to rank 5 tanks and rank 4 planes of every tech tree except for Israel, and I totally agree that China right now is definitely the most effective and enjoyable tech tree especially in low to mid tier as they got really good tanks and CAS options.
i grinded almost everything for america air and over half of ground and i have all the way to jets in germany plus 3.0 tanks. though i took several year long breaks but iv played sense 2017 ish lots of good memories and lots and lots of downfalls too

Japan is actually a very competitive nation now, line up from 4.3 to 8.0 is extremely competitive. from 8.0 onward is just trash.
@@quangnhat5345 you're wrong. Japan is good at all BRs. Especially the Type 10 etc. Japan has good tech just get used to it.
Pretty easy to kill most heavy tanks with a little thing called the type 60. Two recoiless rifles of death I use to hunt Maus players
I am currently at BR 7 with American and it’s my first tech tree. I honestly have say despite how much of a struggle American is mid tier I am glad because I learned how to pen vehicles and what rounds work where.
Italy is good at first their main advantage is speed but you have light armor which is good in lower BR but once you hit the higher BRs everyone else is pretty much as quick as you and you just end up getting one hit
if in the aviation tech tree, my favorite is german, they have great planes at all br with pretty good maneuverability and great climb rate. Overall, they are my favorite
Until you reach jets. Rank 5 is very painful if you don't have the squadron hunter (which I'd highly recomend, it's downright op), as quite literalyl the only good vehicle there is the mig15bis.
I play all tech tree and i can say that sweden is the most fun one, their 4.0 lineups is broken and its tier 3, great for grinding events and missions
Most of the good American Tanks are in other Tech trees anyway. It really get's tiring to gind yet ANOTHER Sherman when you are on your 7th tree.
Italy has a lot of fun vehicles, if you really want to grind fast to top tier China isn't too bad since it uses some of the better American and Soviet equipment on the lower tiers.
Japan, France and Sweden are nice. Brits can be a bit hard in the beginning due to only bringing AP, but once you get used to aiming more carefully and on different spots it's fine.
Germany and the Soviets have big trees, which can make the grind quite tedious at times.
Honestly I recommend to do multiple trees at once if you are not in a hurry, as swapping nations saves on repair costs.
Israel is kinda the Tree you do once you grinded through all the others.
Gaijin said they would add Hungarian and Romanian vehicles to the Italian tech tree so that should flesh out some gaps.
I hope Japan will get a South Korean sub tree in the future, they would really benefit from it.
I used to play Germany a lot (i have all the tech trees) but now my go to is Sweden because honestly it quirky fun. You just never know what you're getting (performance wise) with these vehicles, including the planes.
Some how I keep getting Russian freebee, but I am truly not interested in playing Russian vehicles because they seem to have a bias... I'd rather destroy, so I sometimes hunt them during the games, and Sweden has the firepower to deal with everything Russian.
the french c2 bis is my favorit in lowtier indirect fire onehit kills up to 1.1km and still not op because of its ammorack being shielded by wet papier lol. so much fun.
For simplicity
USA
-Stabilisers(easier to acquire targets and give possibility to accurately shoot first)
-Through most of tree same cannon ballistics because the same gun is present on many vehicles
Such as same 37mm on all stuarts
-decent gun depression on most
-decent survival ability
-good mobility
-some
Germany
-Good sniping guns
-They Require a little bit more of planning to be played well
(Advised to learn how to ambush with them or don't rush onto entire enemy team)
-Some Early Panzers have no turret rotation
-Playing this nation may bring u to the conclusion that Germany suffers because many players seem to be AI steered with only some sharing mastery/capability in German vehicles
-decent mobility even on first Heavy Tank
USSR
-Excellent mobility on most vehicles
-Some guns feel a little bit wobbly
-Very good survivalability cuz of so called "Stalinium" (sometimes they survive when they should not)
-Very good penetration
-Excellent guns on all tiers
-Both good at Engagements on even terrain
-no gun depression
Britain (Not for beginners)
-consist of low armor
-often no stabilisers and wobbly guns
-no explosive fillar and require a lot of shots to take out a single target cuz there is no spoiling for some reason
-very quick reload
-someties poor accuracy
-take even more patience than Germany
-excellent flankers
French(not for beginners)
-early tanks feel very slow
-low damaging early guns
-2nd rank starts getting more decent thx to "French Sherman" and decent "French crusader
-for very patient ppl
-
Italy
-good survivalability on early vehicles
-good early armor
-low pen but comes with explosive fillars
-decent rank 2
-consist of both slow and steady and fast wheeled vehicles
-powerfull tank destroyers

Idk about calling USSR guns “high pen”. Aren’t they typically slightly inferior to their US counterparts in that regard?
sweden also has the ikv 91 at like 7.3 with laser range finder, and heatfs which is really damn good
I think 4.7 Britain is pretty good, i played it with the two Sherman Fireflys, Avenger, Concept 3 and the Achilles, never had a problem killing tigers or so. In my opinion you should skip on the churchill mk 7 and probaply also on the mk5.

I've ground/grinded? Britain, US, Russia, Sweden, Italy and Germany to rank 5/ 6. It's so hard to say which is the best overall. They each have their good points at different br's. If I was to put them in an order. I would probably say US, Russia, Germany. To be honest any order of them would do. Then Britain, Sweden and Italy. but you could swap Italy and Sweden. But because these are last, doesn't mean they are less fun. But I think you need to learn the at least one of the top three first. I think my next country will be France. Those AMX piss me off. I started out playing us then switched to Germany after hitting all the Sherman's
for returning players, israel is my bet.. you start @ 6.0 M51 super sherman with a 105 mm gun that pens 400mm of armor(albeit inconsistently).. and if you play arcade, you can play it 3 times even without any backup to it.. for new players.. I am torn between german and soviet main.. soviet main has speed, firepower and armor from low to high mid tier while with germany, you can never go wrong.. only IMO..

The sweden tech tree are quite complicated
Imagine playing a light tank with a very good gun, but has the repair cost of a jet.
Also majority of (native) sweden tanks CAN and WILL be strafed with every aircraft in that BR possible.
Yes, it has good guns, yes it has good optics etc. But after you killed that one guy in the far, just get ready to be strafed/bombed.
The air however, pretty alright, until u get to 4.3 theres 3 aircraft u can use in the same lane going down ( J21A-1, J21A-2, and the J26 (basically P51D-NA)) however i suggest playing the J21A series, it doesn't have good flight performance and it easily rips when diving, but those 20mm and 13.7mm really shreds if u have good aim. (Always go for a head on, u have the gun advantage BUT AVOID YAK-9s!).
The early jets sucks.
While the SK60b is good for groundpounding, but i don't suggest to use those twin 30mm ADENs into a dogfight/ fight any players tbh-- they have no tracers and hard quite hard to aim, especially if you're new to jets (like me)
the J21RB and J21RA has downgrades, the 13.7mm AKAN are changed to the 12.7mm (idk why) but still maintains the 20mm. Also. They didn't upgrade the airframe at all, so expect ripping speeds even in straight line. But you have airbrakes to counter this. (Note the minimum fuel on both aircraft is around 6 minutes, and the max is 22 minutes) i also recommend (if you insist playing these early jets) pick the J21RA cuz it has better engine than the J21RB (200 more thrust is 200 more thrust )
About the helicopter, i would skip the HKP3c (imagine firing ATGM with 2km max going out in 85m/s)
The HKP2 is pretty alright, but you're shooting essentially the SS.11 ATGM so it's not fast, but better than the bantam (RB53 fitted in the HKP3c, yes the one that has 85m/s speed)
In a nutshell, don't play swedish tech tree without any financial backing. If you just started to play, pick the big 3 (america, soviets, germany) more easier to learn, or pick chinese if you want some varieties while playing
I started with German Naval then went for Russian Ground specifically SPAA and when i went to get to BTR-ZD and started murdering air power and now i have to just get the Pantsir the Strela i hated incredibly but now with good button setups make all the difference especially when your like me playing on a PS5.
7.7 france is really good. Surbaissé + AMX-50 (TOA100), man, is not aphe but sometimes does more damage (shotting at the engine from behind)

Italy has by far been my favorite tech tree to grind in WT. it does have its moments of frustration but it’s a tree where you have to actually know what you’re doing to be successful instead of brain dead charging the enemy team like in Russia.
I mean every tech tree you have to use the good old brain to play. Italian players always seem to be elitist which is always very weird.

The only reason I ever even started War Thunder is because I wanted to play the glorious KV-2 (1939), and when I got it for the first time it was amazing being able to one shot everything (with a well aimed shot obv), overall the russian heavies at low br teach you how to angle.. And for me it has my style of gameplay, something like... BIG BOI HEAVY TANKS WITH BIG GUNS HOLDING THE B POINT, and especially when I got the KV-1 zis 5, it was basically a Tiger at 4.7

As a Great Britain main who started with Great Britain for no other reason then just choosing a random nation and grinding, it isn’t as… bad as I hear a lot of people say it is. It just requires a play style as arguably every nation or individual vehicle requires. Things like the Firefly, FV4005/Conway, and Conqueror made the grind a lot better to play and those things are just generally fun to use even if you’re getting sent back to the hangar faster in something like an FV4005 half the time.
I do recommend investing in the Centurion Action X for a stronger 7.3 line. That thing is great. Although everything after the Conqueror and Conway starts to get painful aside from the South Africans and the Vickers.
You’ll see pain early on with the early vehicles, I personally hated the Churchills. All of them. But with the right play style if you can get a hold of it, tanks like the Comet, Avenger, Challenger (tank destroyer), and the balls to the wall great (IMO) Charioteer just give you a super fun lineup. And the Ystervark. Mmmm, my love. I love you little tractor.
I disagree with the vid, 4.7 UK is probably my favorite lineup to bring out since I have the tech tree firefly and the polish firefly. Even without the money gun, the normal firefly stands up great on its own with the other vehicles too. That isn’t a vehicle, and largely none of the British vehicles at low to mid tier, are vehicles to bring as brawlers who take to the middle of the map. I use British vehicles to great effect by flanking and relocating.
Anyways, just a weird stinky British main. Yes, we also don’t see the sun. How else do you think we spent as long as we did getting to top tier?
i was looking for another british main who actually agreed with my opinions on the tech tree. I think that once you get used to solid shot, it is very enjoyable. and you get the added bonus that when you go to another tech tree with APHE you feel like a god.
Yeah I think it’s crazy to say uk suffers at 4.7 ground, it fuckin dominates hard there.
in the 7.7 in us tech tree the heavy is pretty survivable in my opinion a very fun br to play

I have both the Swedish and German tech trees and am currently doing Japan. Low tier Japan is frustrating as hell, however I'm at 8.3 ((thanks to the type 16 FPS).

I would disagree with Israel, yes the Magach grind is- not great… (until they release the Sabra so there will actually be a good reason to grind that line) but the Merkava’s I find are honestly amazing.
They do require quite a layer back playstyle, but the thing I love most about them is their optics I would argue are some of the best for any MBT due to the commander having 20x zoom on the Mk.1-Mk.3B, the 3C’s optics are not great for some reason, but the Mk.4 does get less zoom at only 14x but with gen two thermals and the commander sight being very high up meaning playing ridges is very easy…
That ammo rack in the hull for the mk4s Is pretty funny

In the swedish tech tree, strv is actually short for "stridsvagn" wich translates to tank

It makes sense in scandinavia atleast. For instance, in danish its called a 'Kampvogn', which is 'Battle Wagon' in english ;]
6.0 ussr is a massive pain
You get a ton of armor that slows you down, but you can't use it because everything else pens you anyway
I play mostly rank 3ish Italian. I learned that you have to play them very much like a gnat annoying every on their flanks and just be a nuisance for what you can kill and scout for what you can't kill. If I could track how far I drive in each game it would be like 30 miles more than anyone easily. That all goes out the window with the p40 it is basically what I take in second and just pop turrets. Unless it's a kv then I just roll play Kelly's heroes
German I have zero luck with and just get blown up.
The best tech tree to go down is the one you're interested in. You can start down the most overpowered tech tree possible, but if you don't have any real interest in the history of the vehicles you're playing, it's going to go from a fun chance to play that nation's military history to a grind.
Really slept on Brittish tanks as irl the challenger is one of if not the best in the world

6:41 Wym, the Elefant is the same tank destroyer as the Ferdinand, just a different nickname and tracks on the hull to make it look more unique in game.
Elefant has more weak spots then the Ferdinand being the MG port on the front and as well the turret mantlet is weaker

I'm on germany but I wanted to go china after because of the russian and american tanks making it easy to grind and then the later chinese tanks that I just kinda like... But now I'm thinking france or sweden for the top tiers.
I picked British when I started but I’ve been working on Germany and Ussr I’m still on tier 2 though slowly working towards top tier I’m not really good with aa or planes I’m mostly use tanks or tank destroyers

Depends on what your goals are Sweden has low and mid tiers which are interesting and new. Top tier Sweden would be Germany + but better with the STRV 122s. China would have a bit of copy paste low to mid tiers then top tier is unique has a a similar playstyle to russia.

I already bought strv 103 0 and planning to buy cv 90 xc8 to get the strf series, but after test driving the strf their mobility kinda lame and the ammo on the 40 bofors runs out fast. Now i'm wondering should i continue going for sweden or switch to america or italy? Italian wheeled boi kinda looks fun too
As a American main, its not worth it. You get one shot by almost anybody in any Battle rating. Go Sweden
Japanese tech tree: going to suffer until you get the chi to, late, and ri version. Expect to get one tapped.
The only problem of habit I have is adjusting to using a sta gun and a panther gun
France has a good 7.7 lineup, the issue is that in an up tier you fight t55ams and t 64s
A point of contention as someone who has done the grind from the American line, concerning the portion of the lineup at or around the 5.3-6.3 BR: it's not a good tier of ground vehicles. the 3rd tier of Americans is just awful by comparison to most the other nations, and gets worse the higher you go. This problem resolves itself in tier 4 around BR 6.3-6.7. It's a long and frustrating grind to get through, for 1 reason: Sherman tanks. Sherman tanks are, by a wide margin, everyone's favorite tank to shoot. They are large, have mediocre guns and ammo, comprise about 80% of the 5.3-6.3 American lineup, and most are relatively poorly armored. And they frequently face German and Russian teams, usually combined, which:
-are generally better armored
-have better guns and ammunition
-have few exploitable weaknesses that American vehicles can take advantage of
-in several cases are harder to detect and combat (this mostly applies to their spg's, although with the way skilled panther and tiger drivers play, they easily fall in that category too. Prepare to be sniped frequently from hills a kilometer away by a panther driver that barely showed you the top of his turret for 3 seconds.)
Some people say that the American aircraft at these tiers counter the problem in ground battles. I discredit the aircraft as a fix to this problem, for 3 primary reasons
-aircraft require spawn points in realistic and sim battles. Which requires getting kills. So only the fortunate or the talented can spawn them in early enough to make a difference.
-aircraft bomb and rocket payloads are usually only good enough to deal with 2-3 tanks before needing to rearm, which takes a significant amount of time. Which effectively removes the aircraft's presence, because the only other armaments most American aircraft carry are .50 cal machine guns. Which have a difficult time making it through any tank armor, even top armor. As opposed to most other aircraft using cannons. Which segues into my 3rd point.
-EVERYONE gets aircraft. Being able to spawn in a mustang or whatever aircraft you prefer usually means it's heading into an open sky full of Russian and German aircraft that, if they have any degree of competence, have been expecting and waiting for you, because it's just easier for them to kill your tanks and earn the points to spawn them, and so odds are they've been up there for a while.
In summary, the video mostly gets the American line right, but undercuts how TERRIBLE the grind can get. You are going to suffer at those tiers. It's just gonna happen. It's a bit of a mixed blessing in the form of teaching you and burning into your memory all the weak points of German and Russian tanks and where to shoot for maximum effect, which you can then use from 6.3 onward to get sweet sweet revenge.

i just ping-pong back and forth between tech trees depending on how I'm feeling, the only one I don't play very often is Britain because their tanks are just God awful to play, though i do want to get to the Churchill eventually.
I'd played multiple trees for a while but never really fell in love or was that good with any of them. Then I tried Japan and for some reason they just clicked and quickly became my best nation, now I'm sitting happy with my TKX

have I missed something?? when you talk about the UDES at the start you show a video of the you tracking the missile (like you can do with bombs in CAS). Is this possible in game or is it only on replay (if it is in game, what control do I need to setup?)?
That was a bug where spike missiles was accidentally added to the game
if they gave the italians the B1 Draco which is the same OTOMATIC gun system on a Centauro chassis, as well as the Centauro 155, and Centauro II i think they’d be fairing a lot better at top tier.
I've started with Japan, and to be frank I've never had so much fun with aby other trees after I've masterd Japanese one. When you learn how to play Japanese, other trees feels boring cause you know how to play war Thunder and it become so easy.
