    The Giulia QV is the best driving luxury sports sedan ever made. Sensational drivers car. As good as the engine is it is the steering and chassis dynamics that make it so good. The best part is the 2.0T variants are almost identical in that regard.

      That’s actually a pretty accurate assessment. I own an Estrema and have tested the Quad several times. I live in a snowy climate so decided I needed the AWD. There is very little if anything between the two in terms of handling, steering and dynamics. Alfa designed the Giulia around the V6 Quad not the other way around like Audi and BMW. So the lower end Giulias behave exactly like the Quad outside of its immense power.

    I think the tires on each car was diffrent. If Alfa had PZero Corsa in this low temperature outside, I ' m not surprised that Audi was quicker because it propably had Michelin PS4S. And that makes a big diffrence in low temperatures. I think that, all tests with time laps schould be compared on each car with the same tires .

    I think you have to also consider that the Alfa was designed in 2014-2015 and remains largely unchanged since then. If you consider that it’s taken Audi about 7 or 8 more years to design a car that’s quicker around the track than the Alfa, it’s far less impressive to me. Keeping in mind the Alfa’s looks are still far better after this time than really any Audi, including the latest ones, it’s Alfa for me all day, everyday, and twice on Sunday. Apparently, the 2020+ models lose the sharp and direct handling opposed to the 2017-2019 models due to the change in the front end geometry and refinement. Interior of the newer models combined with the steering of the older models would be above and beyond perfect.
    If anyone’s curious of what I mean, watch “Autofanatic’s” video on his previously owned 2018 QV vs his previously owned 2021 QV. At the time, he bought the 2021 to replace his 2018 but kept going back to the 2018 due to better handling.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio is an all time classic and still a better drivers car than the competitors. I sold mine earlier this year after 3 years of perfection and still can't find a car that gives me that feeling for the same money. I own an Alfa Q and he’s right abound the soft rebound. Very simple example: take a speed bump at a brisk pace and it bobs a little more than you’d like. That’s why I’ve replaced the shocks with KW V3 (they do a version specially made for this car). It feels much more taut and tied down and there’s less ‘assistance’ from the diff. Most owners will be perfectly happy with the default setup, but if you want to sharpen your Q up, this upgrade is money well spent.

    Great effort from Audi. Just to note that the RS5 weighs 175kg more. Still that A5 begs to be silver and that front headlights can't stop any potential owner from knowing how many different variants there were and that they will be obsolete in no more than 1 year. It's just a much more commercial product which can battle with this Alfa only 6 years later. The Alfa with the stelvio Q4 would have indeed been faster thanks to better power to weight ratio, but alfa couldn't be bothered making a 4wd version of the Giulia, it looks exacly as it looked in 2016 because it can. It's a classic already and it has to be RWD. The RS5 will hold value on the market fairly well, but only become obsolete, never a classic.

    I have the Giulia Estrema trim, basically a Veloce with the carbon fibre interior/exterior trim of the QV in Alfa Rosso. I absolutely love it, and the best part is Alfa designed the entire Giulia range around the QV, so whereas the M3 and RS5 are very different cars from their lesser mid range and entry spec versions, the base engine Giulia (in North America) with the LSD is essentially the same car as the QV to a T without the V6. It handles, steers and engages just like a QV minus the incredible wave of power and sound. That said the 2.0T is no slouch and with a piggy back ECU you’ll have a sub 5 second car all day.

    Most people aren’t race car drivers.
    Audi is a great car for those who are not professional drivers.
    Makes sense it is quicker.
    Quattro grip coming out of those corners helps.
    To say Audi RS5 is rubbish is simply silly.
    RS5 gets great reviews from professional car reviewers including this one.

      I would. Difficult comparing a 4WD system on a track against a RWD car. The 4WD car is almost always likely to be quicker given its advantages in the corners in maintaining grip and a bit extra speed. Would still have the Alfa over the Audi any day. I have a Giulia Veloce currently and it was that or an Audi S4 and the Alfa was miles better to drive. The Audi was pretty safe and boring even in race mode.

    Awesome video Jason, I have the RS5 and absolutely love it but I've been eyeing that Alfa for a while; this makes my decision ever harder on what to do once my lease is up. I love everything about that Alfa except the RWD, really wish they would make the Quadrifoglio in AWD but I know that will never happen. If I make the switch I have to live with the fact that I'm moving to a slower car. I've actually pulled a 0-60 time in my RS5 at 3.2 and that's stock! For the Alfa to pull of a 3.9 you'll need some really good soft grippy tires, so hard to get grip off the line with that car. Thanks for the vid!

      @jjchockey Před rokem +3

      You don't drive numbers on a piece of paper you drive the car. Go drive a QV and you will not be thinking you are "moving to a slower car". It feels noticeably quicker than an RS5. More power and less weight. In reality how often do you launch your RS5? Probably not much. in gear acceleration matters more. Then you get to the steering and chassis dynamics where the QV absolutely destroys the RS5. No comparison, the QV is for driving enthusiasts.
