Hardy hibiscus and royal purple smoke bush propagation

I pruned a couple plants yesterday and picked some of the nicest cuttings to propagate. Ideal time is when they initially break dormancy or when they are completely dormant for hardwood cuttings. Hardwood cuttings are slightly older branches usually up to the thickness of a pencil that start to look woody. Green cuttings can be taken as well which are new growth but are a bit trickier to propagate. Humidity either by a bag or clear cup helps. Remember to make sure your cover doesn’t touch your cuttings. When cuttings are out of dormancy I like to use rooting powder and/or gel because it does speed things up. They are not always needed and can be done with alternatives or nothing at all.

Thank you!! I've never used rooting hormone. I'm too scared! I just stuck my smoke tree cutting in some water. I'm from Albuquerque! But moved away!
