Dividing Hardy Hibiscus Inground

- Hey guys back to one of my favorite plants. These guys grow fast and should occasionally be divided. This will create healthier plants and allow air to flow through the natural framework. This will help prevent some common issues and for me let’s me keep more plants than I should in my small garden. Be careful when divining and propagating because some plants are patented. I slice the plant in half and dig up half of it. The rest will stay in place and what I dig up can be divided further and fill in empty spots in my yard. Tune in tomorrow to see how I divide uprooted plants. These are known as: hardy hibiscus, swamp mallow, rose mallow, dinner plate hibiscus, marsh mallow…. The list goes on.

Great explanation on how to divide it
So helpful I'm going to be doing mine tonight!!!! I've had it like 16 years and never divided it!! eeek hahaha I know it needs it.

Thank you for the video! I divided mine, and it's still in shock :( Anything I can do to help perk it back up? Should I prune it?
Trimming would help, regular watering and a root stimulator are my go to for rescues
What time of year is preferred for dividing?
I prefer spring but anytime the plant is dormant will work.
@@breakingburque2200 thank you. I may divide on next nicer day.
Did it survive?
Yes, and with what I took out my sister has the start of a hibiscus hedge
