The new rendition never struck as hard as the original. You really cannot replace the Likes of Richard Burton, and Justin Hayward, Phil Lynott and Julie Covington - superb.
The "my life Will be forever autumn" voice is very beautiful
these are by far the best design for the tripods in any adaptation of war of the worlds.
Say what you will about the writing in the 2005 movie. The tripods there were epic.
Though these tripods aren’t book correct. No funnel, the heat ray should look like a camera and be on a separate arm, and they are missing the tentacles. They are still cool designs though
The design for the fighting machines on the album have always looked the best. They look modern and frightening, some other designs over the years have looked weak and vulnerable. The machines in the Tom Cruise film have one major fault, speaking of the film the only good bit about it was the closing credits.
I disagree, I much prefer the 2005 design.

yes absolutely, with the music included and sections from the book if needed to fill gaps - but please keep the flying machines faithful to the book, the ones in the trailer are too OP
If you made one based off the musical, it would probably be the second live action to actually include the Thunderchild.

I think it fits the aesthetic of the time period well. This version of the Tripod perfectly represents what science fiction would be to people during then.

The part i loved most about the originals was the thunderchild. It fought the martians and made them bleed giving people false hope before it was torn away. The ineividual martians dont need to be unbeatable, just the collective.

Jeff Wayne serious needs to remaster the RTS game he made seeing as they have better quality models and cinematics now.

This was my favorite game. Would love to see it updated and released for windows 10. If the original would run on windows 8 or 10 I’d still be playing. That game introduced me to Jeff Wayne!

In the original 78' musical version. They mention it briefly when they are buried beneath the destroyed house. A six legged machine with big claws and a basket on it's back.

I've just noticed an error with the CGI: when the foot of the fighting machine comes down at 0:38, its leg doesn't appear to be socketed on correctly.
And you felt the need to point it out, why exactly?

Im sure I saw an interview with Jeff wayne a few years ago and he said that an animated movie was going to happen, but then it all went quiet, BTW has anyone been to the wotw experience in London? It looks really good.
I went 2 days ago, if you haven't went please do. It goes through all the songs from the musical but js more like a play with acting, vr segments for thunderchild and other important parts it's so good

Why would anyone want the new album with inferior performers, half of them just being the flavour of the day.
Liam Neeson's opening monologue sounds like he's phoning it in. The idea that they think people would prefer that to the original Burton voice is crazy.

You do realize that this was originally made in 1978? This is a rehash. I'm not yet sure about this new version, but the old version is a real masterpiece. I would much rather prefer this to some movie that completely butchered the feeling and storyline that Wells intended.

I don't know... maybe because it's a musical about a great science fiction. You never know but I don't see H.G. Wells saying.. I hope one day in the future people make a "stage performance" Musical about my story of an alien invasion. That would be like 80 years from now people do a Musical on James Cameron Aliens, or Terminator. Call me a purist but that doesn't sound right to me. I hope this is all a joke.

They look weird and the movie but I do like it.
.... And I don't know about you but Steven Spielberg's make on this story was pretty damn scary. I realized Steven can scare me even as an adult. Such as the T-Rex breaking out of it's cage with a godly roar in Jurassic Park to a Personnel Train going top speeds past everyone watching while on fire in War Of The Worlds.
A musical is just a format of expressing a story. It doesn't fall into a Genre of story telling like a Horror or Drama etc. Stop basing your argument off that. Makes no sense.

Just the idea of this isn't even remotely comparable to movies like Titanic, Terminator 1 & 2, Aliens, True Lies, The Abyss, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., Jaws, Jurassic Park, Lincoln, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Saving Private Ryan, and Schindler's List. A Musical can be a Drama. Who said it couldn't. Wasn't me. I said Musical is a format of expressing a story. Similar to Science Fiction expresses a story. The only type of stories that exist are Drama, Romance, Comedy, Thriller, Horror etc There's only like 7 stories that can be told. Musical (or Science fiction) isn't any of those. If there's a story in a Musical. Then it has to have one of the "Story Telling Genres" or else it's just people singing and/or dancing and not a Musical.Next Comment
