I have the exact same guitar. Got it couple months back and just can’t put it down. Was planning on originally switching out the pickups but they sound fantastic. It’s affordable and plays looks and sounds better than some guitars at 2or3 times the price point. It’s a real gem. Glad you put this video out to show people just how good it is.. great video.
Same. Totally planned on new pickups, but have absolutely fallen in love with the tone.
Gotta say that intro was the best I've ever seen in a guitar review. You really got to hear it hit a bunch of different tones / gain all within the same tune. Super effective at showing the range.
"Trust me, I know about cool, look at me." It's true, you do know about cool, so looks can be deceiving. The Broad'trons sound great under your expert tutelage, good to know. Have fun at the pub n curry tomorrow everyone, Canada wishes you lots of musical toots.
I grabbed the G5232T Electromatic Double Jet FT with Bigsby back in February 2022.
It was the lowest price Gretsch I could find that had Filtertrons.
Does lovely cleans but still has enough Grunt to push Drive tones.
As you pointed out, the larger Broadtrons DO carry some of that Gretsch'iness too, but it was the Filtertron experience that I was after.
I don´t think you are right - they totally look like BlackTrons to me, which are humbuckers.
@@qddk9545 You misunderstood my comment.
I was saying that those BT pickups still retain some Gretsch'iness even though they are humbuckers and Not the Filtertron type that I have in MY G5232T Electromatic Double Jet FT with Bigsby
Another great solo! Good show, big dog!
One can never be in too much of a hurry when playing that beaut. Love that sound, nd, yes, it stands out from the usual LP, Strat and Tele sound. Gorgeous and affordable, too. Have a great time tomorrow night!
Have a really great time tomorrow John and all ! 🍻🥘
What a rocking intro John, I’m in awe mate
Love mine! The jack socket on mine is perfect. Holds the jack in place through hours of playing. I love the flexibility of the guitar. It can be a beast on AC/DC or smooth and chimey for those early Beatles/Harrison tones.
I have the Jade coloured one.. love it but the Jack socket really is loose - even with some adjustment it still doesnt hold the plug very well. When I get a minute will swap it out for a switchcraft one.
😳 my walnut one was delivered on Sunday. What an absolutely fantastic guitar!
You can't go wrong with a Gretsch. After I got my first one I ended with two more as well. Fine guitars
Hi John, Nice demo and nice guitar.
I hope you all have a good Friday outing plenty of curry, beer and then maybe a little more beer.
Gary
Wanted one of these for so long.
Really great sounding guitar
Amazing tune.
NICE Intro!!
Thanks for this. Fantastic sounds you got. The single cut seems a bit less flashy, but I prefer the walnut finish option and minimal fret markers of the Duo.
I think if you took out the jack socket and bent the piece of spring metal to hold tee plug in it would be fine without a new socket? Looks like a beautiful guutar to me and sounds great
Cool guitar, nice vid... thanks very much 'King of Cool' 😁
Great guitar. Jets are excellent quality and value!
7:26-LOL.! Good one.
Lovely guitar, played well. Sounds great. I have a similar double jet but with a Bigsby and block inlays on the fretboard. I could lose the bigsby in a minute, and the thumbnail inlays look much better than blocks. It had terrible neck dive too, but moving the strap button to the heel solved that. I tried lead weights in a sock stuffed into the lower chamber but no luck that way.
I have one of those, (red) swapped the bigsby for a trapeze style tail. Seems to make it a little more resonant. Easy job, just had to drill a couple of extra holes around the strap button and your done.
Encore !!
If that naff socket was on a HB, people would giving it the "well that's what you get when you buy cheap... blah blah..." '
Undo the 2 screws holding the socket, pull it out bend the centre connection a bit put it back 30 second fix, not rocket science.
Malcolm Young was one of the best undersung guitar players to ever grace the rock and roll stage :)
Jack socket on mine is OK, but I did find a bit of neck dive. Lovely sound though!
this is a great great guitar and you getting excellent tones. Love mine. Gonna stain the fretboard though.
Very Malcolm Young, sir. I love it.
Hi John hope everything is good, what I want to ask you is that Gretche a chambered guitar, because Andertons are putting it out in their description as a solid body! Thanks take care! By the way that jack socket would do my head in lol.Best wishes mate!
I always think my playing is coming on, then I hear John. Am thinking of taking up the triangle instead.
I have the Jade Grey Metalic version.. and yes, my Jack socket is looser than a wizards sleeve.
This is wonderful mate! Are you using Guitar Rig and Positive Grid 2 for the demo?
Positive Grid for this one 👍
The Dog and Trumpet....😅
Hey John thanks for your video. I'm a little confused because the electromatics at least in the states come with the black top filter trends their ceramic but as far as I know they're real filter drawings. It's the entry level I think they call steam streamliners or something like that their entry level guitars that have the broadtrans so I don't understand why yours has broadtrans and it's an electromatic. I own two stop Voice typing I also own the grass hollow body 5422t but you also has the blacktop filter trons and those are both electromatics all electromatics as far as I know in the states come with the blacktop filter trans and it's the entry level again that gets the protons they're just regular humbuckers. Yeah the 54 35 yeah I own expensive Gibsons and I own a couple of epiphones and some old ibanez's and if all the guitars it kind of makes me cringe to say it but the 5435 jet is probably my easiest and best playing guitar it plays like by itself. Anyway thanks again for your video I wasn't trying to nitpick just the telling you know what I know and p stop Voice typing thanks again for your video I find them fun to steal yours, above the blind bedroom guitars PS please excuse typos misspelled words lack of punctuation things repeated twice speech to text as it's on unique take on the English language and how it's written it also has its own dictionary and makes up its own words
Reet nice 'n' propper is that !
Bloody Jack socket mate!
I just got one and I took the pick guard off of it.
I have the same guitar; bought it used for 325 USD with a very nice gig bag. Immediately took off the pickguard. My only complaint is it's a little neck heavy.
Mine had terrible neck dive. Eventually, after trying a couple of solutions, I moved the horn strap button to the heel. That solved it without hindering access to the dusty end too much.
@@dasschaf2476 Same here. I also use a wide leather strap with a suede back and that helps too.
Let me know when you're on at the Dog and Trumpet and I'll bring the gaffer tape....
Would you recommend this guitar for someone wanting a Gretsch in the collection for something different John or avoid it for another model ?
No, don't avoid this guitar, it's a great example of what Gretsch do 👍
@@JRobsonGuitar great ! Thanks for the response John. I found one on the used market that’ll I’ll inquire about then.
does a les paul case fit these guitars
Sorry, I do not know
Does 24.6 " feel much different than 24.75 " ???
Not massively 👍
Mine got stolen and thought i got a defective one
Cheap dime size pots and dodgy wiring , cheap switch.
Sorry to hear you've had a bad experience with one of these. I had a similar experience with an Epiphone Les Paul recently. Brand new guitar & it needed a full fret level & crown. I was prepared to write that off as just one bad one that slipped through the QC process. Given the fact that this Gretsch (with the exception of the jack socket) functions perfectly, is it possible you just got a bad 'un?
@@JRobsonGuitar no ,, it's not a bad experience. It's all about the bones! If it rings it's a good one. I like reworking guitars and expect the usual weaknesses at that price point! Buy one , throw an extra hundred at it and you got a great gigging guitar! Leave your Gibson and Fender home under the bed!
I have a very similar double jet. I haven't got any problems with the pots, but after three years the switch is starting to play up on mine. So yeah, the switch is definitely a weak point.
@@dasschaf2476 yeah it's a given at the price point with the asian guitars. Beautiful but lots of cheap parts lurking. Just get a parts drawer going, get switchcraft jacks , some good wire, some cts pots ect. They can all become great guitars with a new nut, a better bridge,,,and new pick ups. Just start small and get it sorted out.
I just don't like the thumbnails markers. I would love to try one out and see if I dug it. It looks cool and I've been eyeing a Gretch for years. Just can't decide which one!
Just pull the jack out and bend the lead a little so it holds the cable.
