  • Review of the Gretsch G5237 Electromatic Double Jet FT in surf green. Very cool looking guitar. I personally enjoy a guitar with a classic look, and noticed right away that the action felt nice on this guitar so I wanted to feature it. It has beautiful sounding pickups as well.

    Just got it a week ago, it sounds amazing and so many people at guitar center kept saying how beautiful that guitar was. It was 500 bucks

    I love black faced filtertrons. They really benefit from a real tube amp. I want to recommend the Vox ac10, as a great companion for these pickups. The gain control, can dial it in. From jazz, to hard rock.

    I never go into GC unless I have to, and today I had to. I really wanted to take that Gretsch home with me! I didn't even plug it in, it just looked like we'd get along!

    Epiphone and Gretsch have been killing it lately

    Saw one of these at the local GC, fell in love with how it plays immediately. However, the only one on the wall was pretty dinged up, there was an eraser sized ding on the back of the neck, and the bass side upper bout horn was pretty banged up with some cracking and a very noticeable missing chunk of finish on the face of the guitar. I asked if they’d be willing to knock a few bucks off since it was obviously damaged, they wouldn’t budge on the price “because it was already on sale.” Right, so you’re gonna sell a damaged guitar for the same price you’d sell an undamaged guitar. And they wonder why their rep sucks.

      Full disclosure, it took a month but they finally did sell it to me at a significant discount. Really happy with it. That particular GV has since bent over backwards to make me happy. They probably don't like me much, but they do treat me right.

      Went yesterday to be get one and ended up with a epiphone les Paul standard 60s. The pickups were just not doin it for me on this one! Too much twangy

      @@dollarmenuracing Twangy was what I was going for this time🤘 I got a lot of Les Pauls👍
      I put heavy strings on mine to beat on it like Malcolm Young. Those twangy pickups sound great for that.

      Sadly Sam Ash has gone out of business. They just cannot compete with all of these heavy hitters. If only GC would be More Supportive and showed their Love for those trying to get into Playing music as a hobby and or a living.

    I have been looking at both the single and double cut Gretsch Electromatics. Do you have a handle on the main differences other than the shape? Which you prefer? Thanks.

    Is this considered long scale?

    • @evanheathguitar
      @evanheathguitar  Před rokem

      This one is not. As per Guitar center website the scale length is 24.6” which is like a Gibson scale length

      The cutaway definitely makes that neck look 3 feet long.

    The neck is too thin and the wrong shape for me.
