It's bizarre that such a simple and often used effect should be such a faff to use in Powerdirector! In Windows Movie maker it used to be a simple click where you wanted the zoom to start and click where you wanted it to end, but it's always been an unnecessary and user unfriendly hassle to do in Powerdirector for some reason! Cheers Maliek
It's good to see you cover material that you have done in the past. Many users don't realise what a wealth of instructional videos you have produced over the years. I hope this one highlights this to peeps and you get a large increase in viewers to your back catalogue!
Excellent Zoom Tutorial for Power Director 21! This new version deleted previous zoom tools, and left me guessing as to what to do... This tutorial fixed that for me... Thank you, Maliek!
Looks like you beat me to the punch, Maliek, because I was just about to ask you about doing a video about this feature as I've seen it used in CAMTASIA before. I wasn't sure if it were possible on PD. Now, thanks to your tutorial, i know it can be done on PD. Much obliged to you, sir👊🏾
This is one of the most difficult parts of the Power Director 365... When I set a key point...and move to another ....it automatically jumps back to the First keypoint.... This is pissing me off....it doesn't lock on the zoom in point I choose....so I am stuck using less key points, to prevent it from skipping back to a previous key point...YEESH> 🤬😡😠
Thanks for the content! Quick question for you. When I click on the "Pan and Zoom", I do not get the window of "stars" to select the style of motion to apply - it just goes directly to the video. is this because it is a video and not just a photo?
I have PD14 and this tutorial was excellent, however, I still have a question. My Magic Motion doesn't have a time indicator like in your video. I have my main video on track 1, picture on track 2. I can make the zoom and pan work just but it's a guess how it aligns with my main video unless I back out of Magic Motion and play it as a Movie. Other than trial and error to make the pan and zoom align with my main video, is there another way?
@@PDU_Tutorials I've downloaded trial version of PD21 and while that gives you the ability to see the time, it still doesn't allow hearing the audio from track 1 to know where to put the keyframes. However, PD21 is at least a bit closer. I love your videos!
I got a chance to follow through this tutorial but I am not seeing the Pan&Zoom under tools, I see Crop/Zoom/Pan with many more options then your list shows. Also i am not able to get to the pan and zoom templates. It seems when I click it sends me right to the user defined screen that comes up. Am I missing someting. PD365 version 21.4.2812.0
I found since upgrading to power director 365 when i drop a zoom in fx onto a basic title it wont zoom the title anymore? It just turns it all black eventually? Not sure what im doing wrong as it worked fine in previous versions. Now you would have to turn the title into a video clip to be able to drop a zoom on it! Its really frustrating or have i just done something wrong here? I just want to easily zoom into title texts
How do I zoom in on a video. Ik how to do it for a picture but how can I do it for a video? I want to zoom in slowly on my interviewees face. Like I want to zoom while while the video is playing.
I'd love to see the way you actually edit a video. How you lay stuff out and create the finished product. I often wonder how other people do their editing but so far I have never seen a video that actually shows someone laying out their footage, how it looks in the editor and how they decide what to put where. There is so much available on the technical aspects of editing but almost nothing on the actual process.
I have a question. Working on pan and zoom for a 9:16 ratio video with a 16:9 ratio video. I am adding a video on top and bottom to get rid of the black boxes but when I add a pan and zoom black boxes cover those videos. Do you know how to make it so that wont happen?

Is there a way to zoom in and out on a video clip? Or is it ONLY possible to zoom in and out on a picture

I do too. Thanks Steve!
I wish I could double like this as it's the only video on this subject that I found to explain it so I could make it work. Thank you 👍

You’re welcome.
I was really freeked out when they removed keyframes from Crop and Rotate. I didn't know they added Zoom In and Zoom out as a separate feature.

Different version of PowerDirector? This tutorial uses PD 21 Ultimate. If you have PD 21 Ultimate is it updated to the latest version?

Not that I’m aware of. Haven’t used 14 in years

Malik, Essa Explicação que você deu é de como fazer zoom com imagem, eu queria saber como fazer zoom in and zoom out com vídeo, por favor. Obrigado.
Even what should be a simple zoom in feature is a convoluted MESS with PowerDirector.
Yes!!!!

What version of PowerDirector are you using? This is for PD21 which was updated in April 2023.

You need to add the same key frame attributes of the pan and zoom to the videos on top and bottom
