- A few inches over the limit left us feeling a little deflated after qualifying at Imola, but it all came good on Sunday thanks to some spectacular driving, inspired calls from the pit wall and excellent teamwork.

looks like it paid off... I mean it´s hard to tell but it certainly helped keeping charles behind after the restart and I don´t think that the bit more rubber the mediums would have had is enough to fend off a charging hamilton in a mercedes
Well on the other hand the softs allowed them to quickly overtake and distance the two Ferrari whereas the mediums would probably would not have been able to do so.
Getting ahead of the Ferrari with mediums might have lost him quite some time which would probably have ended with the same result.
I think it was a very clever call which was totally worth giving a try

@@TheFikri136 leclerc couldn’t hear his engineer. He would’ve been so focused on defending I don’t believe he would’ve made the move on lando
@@TheFikri136 I don't think Leclerc had the pace. He had a bunch of laps in the drs window before he had Hamilton breathing down his neck and he was never even close to being able to attempt a move.

One small but huge moment was danny coming over and congratulating lando most teammates wouldn't be so willing after being asked to let their younger teammate through great class and at some point maybe we can get a lando + danny podium
I think Lando and Daniel both respect each other and are good friends. They just aren’t the big meme team people always thought they were gonna be. Oh yeah and It really does make you feel good seeing Lewis being so happy for lando and the Instagram comment. That gave me some respect for Lewis. 👍🏼
@@jonah.mcminn i think respect is there but I highly doubt they are good friends they have plenty of time to develop some sort of friendship but the connection between them is very real and very calm

Seeing Lando so upset with himself in the qualifying debrief was heartbreaking, I’m so glad he managed to turn it around Sunday! Also big respect to Daniel for obeying team orders, can’t wait till he is fully comfortable with the car. Come on McLaren! 🧡

So happy for Lando. He thoroughly deserved this podium. Man was absolutely flying all weekend and it paid off.
Major respect to Daniel though, for clearing the way and enabling Lando to go on that charge. Nothing but class from him. True professionalism. And hey, P6 is still great. It's all points. Who knows, maybe the next podium will be his.
Daniel will be the Wiley old fox we know in a few races time. McLaren will be cranking out podiums in due time.
Daniel finished at a respectable position of 6th overall at @16:25, it really wouldn't hurt to put his result in the board during the team picture, moments like these foster inclusivity and a family culture!

I can't wait till Daniel gets up to speed too. As a crazy Daniel fan it's hard to watch him trundling around, but I know he'll come good, it took a little while at Renault. Hat's off to him for letting Lando pass with no fuss. Lando was clearly faster and the teams points were more important
the positive thing is, trundling in the McLaren is P7 and P6 in the race and 2 P6 in quali, at Renault it was further down the order so yeah hes not up to pace yet but the car is good enough that its not going to hurt him too much

Daniel made some huge plays and I know he is going to get a podium this season absolute class.

Yes but i can never think of any podium as “lucky”. If he hadn’t qualified high and made it to 4th throughout the race then he wouldn’t have been in the position to snatch the 3rd cz of hamilton’s mistake. I get what you mean but part of racing is who does mistakes and who doesn’t.
