The Viking is of the best looking knives in Petrified Fish’s line, IMO. I’m also not a fan of front flippers, but might have to revisit them because the Beluga I had was excellent and, although not for me, it definitely made me want another PF model. I wish they had put thumb studs on this mode or even a regular flipper tab, maybe they’ll offer one in the future. Safe travels on your way back home, JB.

Nice knife, thanks for the share JB. I Completely Agree (designers?!) with you JB on the pocket clip design. Not only does it become both ambidextrous but also very deep carry. A spotted backspacer can accept lanyard.

For some reason I feel like the title of this review should have an -ish somewhere. You made smile every time you slipped an “ish” on the end of a word.
Regarding the point on the front flipper, I could see it being an issue if you have to squat or kneel a lot for your job. It could create a hot spot on your right thigh (as the clip isn’t reversible).

I'm over front-flippers, too. They just seem like a gimmicky method of opening a knife. And I've never heard anybody complain about an opening method more than front-flippers!
I can use front flippers fine, but the chance to drop the knife when removing your thumb completely from the handle to use the flipper is much higher than literally any other opening method that at least keeps the pad of your thumb on the handle. Mechanically speaking it just doesn't make much sense as a reliable, easy method of deploying a knife safely. To each their own, though. Doubt front-flippers are going away, so I'll just avoid buying them. Easy enough solve for me.
Sweet looking knife otherwise. It has nice lines and the blade shape is cool. Straight across the top from heel to toe is something I dig. Thanks for the look at it, JB! 👍

I love PF knives. I have heard good things about the Viking. Why did it have to be a front flipper?!! I am not a big fan of them. I agree, the pocket clip that they innovated should be on all of them going forward. But that’s just my opinion, lol! Great look at it and forgive me for being picky!

Totally agree on the front flippers…can they just be a ‘22 thing and move through the rest of ‘23 front-flipper-less…like a lot less! Hahaha. Especially those super pointy ones! The “Mohawk” styles were acceptable for a bit 🤷🏼♂️

I can’t reliably deploy this knife without using the peg of a front flipper. The knife would be excellent had it been more rounded off. The fuller is so finicky to use so I don’t even bother. Nice but flawed.
