Petrified Fish is my #1 favorite budget knife maker. I have two and they’re both incredible. Ridiculously high quality and very low cost. I have some budget knives - none of them can match PF for crisp and smooth action.

I kind of want it just for the blade grind - I like it! Those facets on the blade grind are jewel-like. Just wish it had thumb studs, flippers and I do not get along too well. Thanks for showing this!
Looks pretty good. I like the blade grind quite a bit. The scales look to be well done as well. I always like to hear about new budget brands. Great video 👍
I have four knives on the way. I own a small mobile knife shop in Salem Oregon. Thinking about putting these in my rotation. I do artisan cutlery/cjrb and qsp knife. Can't wait to get these and test them out. From what I've heard on the research I've done people really love them.
Well……we can get them. l did see them on Ebay.ca but, they ship from China. CBS likes impounding flippers, even though they are legal to own and buy. Might risk it if it was an inexpensive budget priced knife.

@@jimsheppard910 my fear is loosing one coming back from warranty service in the US. Had an issue with a Buck knife two years ago. They could not replace the little flipper because it was on the CBS list. Buck upgrade the knife to a lock back and gave me free engraving. Customer service was excellent.
@@Thomas-dz4eg nice of them. I wish all were like that. This is why I learn all I can about taking apart and repair, modding and blade sharpening so I don't have to send a knife back. Who allows the CBSA to get away with their tactics... provincial or federal? Keep sharp!

That's exactly why I prefer a reversible pocket clip. I've learned my lesson the hard way with knives that don't have a reversible clip. I had to learn the hard way a couple of times, before I made it a rule to not carry in the left hand unless the pocket clip reversed lol.

I just got my one in blue today. It's very smooth opening and closing. I also got a sitivien st128 in blue but wasn't as smooth as the pf818. My knife collection is at 6 knives right now.
I learned about these knives from LuvThemKnives about 6 months ago. My brother won the PF989 on IG. He loves the k110 steel and the action on it. Had carbon fiber handles. Runs smooth and made me a believer in them. It replaced his feldspar
Inset liners on a 28$ knife 🤯 it really is a shame we cant make these knives with the same fit and finish at home in the US for the same money ....the best we can do is maybe a small plastic handled spyderco model
Interesting. Flippers aren't my favorite. Clip is in silly place for a deep-style loop-over. Lanyard hole on lock side unusual but makes sense for a righty-only (which itself makes less sense except maybe on a manufacturing level). Action on the close is desirable if no blade play. As far as the sharpening choil, I'd need to hear from someone who knows why it's apparently so hard to keep the plunge grind off of it (at all price ranges, not just this sub-$30 example). Another review worth watching; thanks.
Agreed on the choil. I'm with Neeves all day long on that one. There's still no blade play or lock-rock. The loop pretty much leaves the lanyard hole exposed, I'm not sure if that was the intention or not. I Appreciate the views and support, and I'll see you on the next live!
I bought a PF949 and its fantastic. So I bought a PF989 and its crap. So Petrified Fish is hit and miss. I think the PF989 has bad bearings sounds like hell closing the blade. And no amount of KPL can quench the nails on a chalkboard sound it makes.

Yeah there's not enough room really for the studs because it sits deep in the handle, but it's an easy flip for sure.

So far so good. It's one of the sharpest knives out-of-the-box I've ever owned.
