    So, as you can see, it’s not difficult (or expensive) to create professional lighting set-ups for video and documentary film productions.
    I used one basic set-up with three lights: key light (with a softbox), edge light, and a back light. You can adjust this set-up based on the situation you encounter at your location.

    Incredible look into the actual workflow of producing a real world documentary. Having recently watch so many camera reviews, this video is such a breath of fresh air reminding us that gear is such a small percentage of creating the final product. The GH4 and A6500 are both years behind current technology, but as evident in this video still produces amazing footage. Would love to see more videos like this one.

      @@caribbeanplaylist7442 really doesn't matter man. I've shot shit on all sorts of cameras. The lens matters more. All cameras today do pretty much the same thing

    Possibly the best tutorial I've seen. I've been learning film making for a while but have never really felt 100% confident in what I'm looking at as far as a production set. Looking at your setup and gear used, I now fully understand each and every part as well as its use. It's crazy. Really appreciate this tutorial! I could totally make something professional.

    Great tutorial Tom. I like how compact your lights are and how fast they are to set up. The use of the RGB fill/kicker light is a very clever way to add a little bit of mood without having to deal with gels. Cool stuff !

    After watching this tutorial, I sat glued through the entire documentary. Beautiful and important work - thanks for that. I was inspired by what you all accomplished with such a small number of talented people. And I very much liked the lighting and color of the interviews and the look of the entire film. Please, what drone and drone camera did you use - those shots were so sharp - even on CZcams?

    Quick tip I use on cloudy days is to flag above the subject so they're not lit from directly above. It creates nasty shadows under the eyes and it also reduces cue ball effect on people without much hair.
