How cool! I love vintage items, especially electronics and fishing gear. As a avid fisherman, all my reels are vintage. My newest reel is 40 years old, my oldest is 70 years old. They all get used and work great!
Cool vintage Whites Coinmaster. My first machine, and have owned about 5 or 6 machines since. These days you can spend around $200+ for a decent entry level machine. Anything cheaper is a huge waste of $$$. A good mid-level machine will cost twice that, around $500 and the more professional examples will cost around $1000 give or take, and can go much higher to a few grand. If I were just starting out today and know what I know now I would probably just spend around $500 and search for a used Garrett AT-Max or used Teknetics T2 or Fisher F75 models (basically the same machine) or you might get lucky and find a used Minelab Equinox or used XP Deus for not much more.
I have the exact same detector, purchased it back in the late 1970's and it still works flawlessly. It had 2 search coils that came with it. a 6 inch diameter and a 10 inch diameter and there was another that I planned on purchasing, a 2 inch diameter, but when I attempted buying it none was available. I originally bought the one I had to locate aluminum shaft arrows when they would bury themselves just under the sod when setting up the sighting pins on compound bows.
What are the chances of getting some pictures of the inside? I don't know if mine is missing anything, cuz Ive never seen it work, lol but I really wanna make it work....
Wish I would have seen this sooner. I have the same one and only one of the battery check positions works (on top of some other failures). I would have asked if you could take some pictures of the internals so I could attempt to decipher the schematics.
I have one of these and would like to see a picture of the insides of one that is in working order so I can see if this one is even complete.... Where would I find something like that? It's the same exact one as in your video ...
I gave this one back to the owners after I messed with it, I don't think I have any pictures of the inside. This might be the manual, although there are a couple models that look similar: garrett.com/sites/default/files/pdf/2020-12/Coinmaster_IV_Discriminator_en.pdf
Awesome machine. :)) But the thing i don't get is you have money to buy a piece of land and don't want to spend anything on a detector? Or they are flatbroke now..?
@@saveitforparts Wich resulted in your channel. :) Me neither, but i don't need much. And i only have ideas to build things but never do. Only a shed during the beginning of the ccp virus lockdown last year.
You seem like a nice guy to be around not going to lie.
Yeah he reminds me of SaabKyle04
It kind of looks the metal detector Grampa had on The Munsters. He used it to locate a UFO. It even had a 'Girls' setting.

It's funny to me how well that knob fitted on
Looking forward to seeing your next projects.
Great find and fix. Hopefully we get to see some metal detectoring in the future.
I fixed this one for some friends, I'd like to try metal detecting myself some time though!
@@saveitforparts Nice. Would be really cool. Might find some really cool stuff. Maybe some musket balls?
My wife has a perfectly good metal detector, and now I have to break it open and put it in an ammo box.
Enjoyable videos keep up the good work
I just cranked one of these up on my channel. It did not detect very deep but was cool to use. I use it in the field too.
That is about a 1969 BFO from Whites

I just found this channel by random chance. Looks quite random in content, but all about repairing and building stuff. I like it. :)
Lots of futre fun for u with that bugger untill u have to give it back!
Yes indeed the vice is metal

Muy bueno
Make it work on 18650 cells
Cool. Maybe rig up some kind of shoulder strap. I imagine using it for an hour or more would be painful.
Well done mate....but why didnt the couple just go and by a more modern machine!!!
Awesome machine.
:))

I think a lot of people start out with used ones. Personally I almost never buy anything new :-)

Yes-Metal detector. :D
I realize it's probably gone already but all those AA's are itching to be replaced by a 4S lipo pack and some regulators.
👍
