Yeah, Sherman you have a point, not many games cover a story of an axis soldier mostly because the allies were made to look like good guys but we really weren't but because we won no one was trailed for war crimes. It's just stupid and that's why I want more games with German campaigns

Like come on that would be so sick if you could play as a marine doctrine against the Japanese... and the possibilities..... And lastly, we're all not idiots we all know what the Nazis did and we know the difference between right and wrong. Its about seeing both sides of the war.

1:55 a bit of a mistake there, actually A BIG ONE! You actually had 3 campaigns in the first CoH that was on the German side... 1. Operation Market Garden (Opposing Fronts expansion) 2. Tiger Ace (Tales of Valour expansion) 3. The Falaise Pocket (Tales of Valour expansion)
Also you should continue the playthrough for CoH1

Good point you make I the beginning, there are some Lord of the Rings games that lets you play evil and the Battle for Middle Earth games always have an evil campaign.

+The Shermanator If you want to know my grandfather served in the german wehrmacht. He had the luck to be stationed in norway. He was no nazi or liked the fascism. Before the war begun he was a baker.
I hate to see comments about german soldiers in the 2.WW called "Nazis" and that's the reason why I am happy to see something like your words.
The reason why penal battalions or Shtrafbat were given that elite equipment is because of the mission they are going on however it is RARE they would get this equipment.They typically would be sent to clear enemy Defensive positions or patrol to ID German positions. Many times though they did not get fresh equipment and would be sent in without weapons and even resorted to using sticks to mimic rifles. The equipment many of the men would use if lucky enough to survive was enemy weapons however fresh penal battalions would not be armed until they reach the fight.

You sound like a person who hasn't played the game... around 2 campaigns are German. Operation Market Garden and the King Tiger one...

M3M3L0RD I again disagree, the CoH campaigns are fun to play but theres no story, you arent feeling from a soldiers perspective.. from a commanders perspective maybe but not bloody and sad and heroic on the ground

um company of heroes 1 u have market garden, tiger ace, and false pocket, market garden is germans during market garden, tiger ace is about the best tiger tank commander the germans had, false pocket is about the last stand of germans to who attempted to hold as long as they could to help the survivors of the mortain assault (idk if I spelt it right) retreat from the allies, and if you want more ww2 games that have german campaigns, close combat is a pretty old style series but its real fun, I got the 2nd one and I can play as germans and make them win market garden better than they did last time, or you can be allies and win market garden, they also got others for the mortain assault and d day and battle of the buldge and eastern front, great series, highly historically accurate, you might like it, a lot different from coh though
In my personal opinion or thought that not many games have german campaigns is that there probably arent as much people that would willingly share stories about their personal war pasts, and as far as most(maybe some idk) ww2 games tend to favor more 'realistic' stories, since allied soldiers tend to be more willing to give a more indepth story experience in the war, and as pieces connect more, youd be able to make a more 'historically' accurate representation of the events of the allies since axis history on events are more on speculation, especially on more obscure warfronts that isnt as major but are equally as important, a few or a lot of gaps might turn away some game devs if they focus on making historically accurate as possible(flinging ragdoll soldiers are realistc). I totally agree, I think video games should present all sides, when I was young I always wanted to be the "bad guys". I would really like to see some fleshed out Japanese content in more games

you have 2 German campaigns in the two DLCs for the first CoH. the Tiger tanks campaign and the operation market garden campaign.

There was a German Camaign in Company of Heroes 1. You played as a Kampfgruppen during Operation Market Garden and then there was also a German mission in the Tales of Valor... two of them. One were you play as a Tiger Tank Commander and the other where you cover the retreat of German forces from Normandy.

Blitzkrieg II has a German, Russian and US campaign. There are German ones in COH 1, Tiger Ace, Market Garden...
Even in Battlefield 5 the mission known as Last Tiger was controversial because driving a Tiger Tank shooting at US soldiers and Sherman Tanks. Play the officer shooting US soldier close up. The purpose of the campaign show view point of the German officer and German soldiers knew that they were going to lose the war. But, if they surrender or caught as deserter by other Germans they'll get killed.

The first game had 2 axis campaigns and the other 4 were allied campaigns...the axis ones were really fun the first one is operation Market Garden and the other one is the Falaise pocket

Sherman, I have this game called 'soldiers: heroes of ww2' and I got it pretty cheap when it came out and it has campaigns for germans as well.

Not sure if someone said this, but you had the Falaise pocket/Tiger missions in the first CoH to play from the perspective as the Germans. Were they full fledged campaigns? Not really. But there were around a half a dozen of those missions.

Heb je wel gelijk in, maar ik vind de campaigns die er al zijn goed genoeg en in COH1 zijn er nog Duitse campaigns (korte, maar ze zijn er) maar een Duitse campaign in COH2 zou wel awesome zijn ( ik ben geen neo-nazi ofzo voor alle duidelijkheid, maar ik steun jou punt wel).
Just starting to watch this video, haven't seen the others, and don't know anything about the mod as far as its features or story goes, but from the sounds of it with how Sherman said there was a part about Axis soldiers who probably weren't Nazis and just didn't want to be part of the war anymore; that sounds real interesting. In the real war, Waffen SS units were often deployed behind regular Wehrmacht units. To keep the regular army guys from deserting or retreating. Would be interesting to see something like, you get a mission where you control regular Wehrmacht units, and have to fight through SS to get to the Allies and surrender. Talk about chaos.

Actually, you have german campaigns in company of heroes 1, although not as long as the other ones ... but I agree, ww2 games should feature german campaigns too. Its not like they haven't gone through the same struggle the other nation did ... and by far not every german soldier was involved in the crimes of the nazis.

Panzer Elite had a campaign in COH1 no? and i think it was done pretty well with intense cutscenes and good gameplay. u can make a german campaign, they won strategic battles throughout the war even though they lost the war overall.

The thing with naming stuff in German, that its very subjective. e.G. "granatbuchse" wouldn't be the right term. "Gewehrgranate" (rifle grenade) is the actual term . Why? Because its a grenade fired from a rifle. Means Gewehr+Granate.
Ofc that doesn't apply to everything but to most things. Another example "Zielfernrohr" (Scope) wich consists of 2 words:
Fernrohr = telescope
Ziel (zielen) = aiming (meant in that way). So apply the logic: It is a telescope you use to aim at a target.

To be honest, the classic saying "History is written by the victor" is still a thing and many people think one side is good or bad but there is a sense of no victor we all did whatever we had to survive and if it means doing horrible things and changing the worlds to save lives we did it and people may say oh Nazis or Japanese they did what we did do whatever to survive and some went to extreme levels but that's basically war it's not all good, it's dirty and grime
Man you are so protocolar, we know who you can upset if you talk to much, in games it's about the game and if you play german or english or russian it's because you want to play that way and you like the germans in the war or you like the russian side of the war so it's fineeee it's just a game and it should involve only fighting between factions and it can mimic history, it's history and we should remember it in order not to repeat it... War is always tough and bad i bet lot's of germans from the wermacht did not want to stay in cold fox wholes and eat concrete bread risking to be shot any min. but again war is war it happens up to our days...

Yes, not many games have campaign for the Axis, I would prefer German and Japanese campaign. Not all German soldiers were associated with the Holocaust and not all Japanese soldier are associated with the Rape of Nanking and other atrocities they committed in China and the rest of Asia

Of course they instantly have to make the protagonists dissociate themselves from the German military and have war crimes as orders as though they were the status quo. I'm all for German campaigns, and I want more of them, but can't we have protagonists who are die hard nazis and others who're at least die hard loyal to the army, and don't just participate in the false stereotype of committing crimes against humanity every 2 seconds?

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have never played COH, I am thinking of getting COH2 for apple mac, but also can get COH2 all out war edition. I will be playing single player (skirmish/campaign?) only, but am I right in thinking that COH2 all out war (which has The Western Front Armies: Oberkommando West, COH 2 - The Western Front Armies: US Force). Which should I get as a single player? Does COH2 all out war edition come with the original COH2 (which I understamd is mainly single player as the Russian army)?

Well Sherman, I don't really know where you are from, probably 'muricah, but just for you and everybody to know, most of german soldiers (Wehrmacht, Kriegsmarine une Luftwaffe) were NOT conviced nazis, they were common people, doing their duty for their Vaterland ;)
