Lyrics:
(1, 2, 3, 4) The highways jammed with broken heroes
On a last chance power drive
Everybody's out on the run tonight
But there's no place left to hide
Together, Wendy, we can live with the sadness
I'll love you with all the madness in my soul
Oh, someday girl, I don't know when
We're gonna get to that place
Where we really want to go, and we'll walk in the sun
But till then, tramps like us
Baby, we were born to run

How in God's name can anyone write a song like that at the age of 24/25 years is unbelievable. The greatest songwriter of our age! Must have heard Born to run 20 plus times live, you know what's coming, you know gonna happen, but it still blows your mind when the first and last chord is struck. Thanks for the ride, Bruce.
He wrote it at the age of 23! He said he wanted to write the greatest R&R song of all time! His quote, I think he succeeded!!
Only 20 times. I listen 20 times a day
Only 20 plus times?

Holaoapa
way back in June of 1984 I was at his concert in the south of France...I was standing next to a very beautiful southern California girl named Carrie at mid field of the soccer field... she said it would be nice to be at the front of the stage ! I said climb on my shoulders and I'll carry you there ! She did and we made it to the stage a song or two before he played this song . When he started to play Born to Run she said that she hopes that Bruce will see her . I said take off your top and he will . She did and as he was singing - he looked and pointed at her and gave a thumbs up ! the whole crowd CHEERED ...

Yep, from Brazil!
Right here-- northern California.
I was at a friends apartment in Boston in early September 1975 and he said to me, " you gotta listen to this guy...He's from New Jersey and he writes some great stuff"
He queued up "Born to run" on the turntable, turned it up and he left the room.
I began to cry about half way through the opening track because I realized that someone had written the perfect kick-ass, teenage/love, rock song.
46 years later and it still holds that title for me.

I had to put my dog down during the summer of 2022, she had completely deteriorated and couldn’t really walk anymore. Her passing completely shattered my heart as she has been a major part of my life. As I’m driving away from the vets office this song starts playing and I just start bawling, this song gave me so much comfort in that moment and I felt like she was finally able to run again and be free. What an amazing song perfect for an amazing dog like her
I'm very sorry for you and your dog: But music can distract us from our problems, It can even cloud us so much that we forget all the negatives for some time and we're able to repress pain and sorrows. All the best from Berlin!
I hear you. I've been in those shoes more times in the past 10 years than
I can endure. My oldest and bestest friend of 15 years suffered a seizure from which he didn't recover. I truly believe for those dog lovers out there, we have a soulmate. He was mine for sure. I will never be the same without him. Bruce's music is the best medicine.

How could communist music save anybody.
Lived in Richmond, VA. Class of 75. There was a small, but vocal, group of guys in my class who were die-hard Bruce Springsteen fans. Played his music at every party. I was more of an Allman Brothers/Zeppelin guy.
So during the summer after graduation I get a call from a classmate, he has two seats to see Springsteen at the Richmond Mosque, which seats maybe 5000. He can't go, would I be interested in the tickets? I ask, "How much?" "$6 each. $12 total." So I buy them the day of the show, 8/1/75. Seats are third row, center, on the aisle. He opens sitting by himself center stage, backlist with blue spotlight. No band. Sings Thunder Road. Unforgetable. Born to Run tour. And the small, but vocal group of guys grew by one....

Bruce Springsteen, "Nobody wins unless everybody wins".
Do you think he really means that,? After his association with the Obama I burned every Bruce Springsteen CD, poster, book and anything with that communist name on it.
Nobody wins unless everybody wins. Word.
No, that's some stupid communist bullshit.
Nothing communist about it, I simply believe that it is not enough to do the best for yourself, we need to look outwards and help each other. Have some humanity. If that offends you, well then I feel sorry for you.
no that is , it is what this country is founded on , the fact that people don't want to be better in all aspects of humanity is the failure of humanity . don't let greed be the deciding factor in your life .
Now you spoke like a true Nazi....
yeah, let's give everyone a gold medal at the olympics
I briefly listened to Bruce as a kid, but never religiously.
Then I showed a friend Born in the U.S.A earlier this year, and decided to pop on Born to Run and Dancing in the Dark for nostalgias sake. Since then I've clocked over 100 hours, I listen to him whenever I get the chance.
This man just gets me, it's like he was born decades before his time. He's inspired me to try and live my life to the fullest, to actually express myself and my sexuality. To do what I want instead of just daydream.
Gah that was pretentious but I had to get that out to the world somehow.

And it's because of him that I wrote my first song which is gonna be the last song on my first album. Thank you Bruce for all you did for me and for everyone that comes after
I know exactly what you mean. The Boss is a lifesaver!!!
Rarely a day passes without this song coming into my head....
He is genuinely happy and grateful for us as much as we are him what an incredible blessing he is lucky us
Continua così, vai sempre avanti e raggiungerai il tuo obiettivo....saluti dall'italia ❤
If this clown got you through dark times you're probably a level 1 NPC
1975. Graduated from high school. This was my favorite song--best of the year--I was lucky to have lived hearing Bruce and following his amazing career over all these years. My dear late wife acted with Steven Van Zandt in the Sopranos. Thanks pal: it means so much to me.
Did you ever go on a last chance power drive?
Bruce Springsteen you are the sexiest man alive! Especially in this year - I saw you live and even met you! You won’t remember though. I could have spoken to you but was silenced by my awe!!!
Who else misses Clarence Clemons?
Wwow me man.. Me !!
Sure we all do.
Clarence is still there. He only dies when we all die
ME...ABSOLUTELY...ME!!!!
I do but the young dude is awesome
If the concept of "America" was a human being, Bruce Springsteen would be that person
No because he's actually a smart and nice person.
Not all Americans are ignorant bigots. Only most of them are
Lol it's so true....
Nonetheless, I believe Bruce Springsteen is the persona of American pride. Kind of like if Narnia could riff on guitar
+Gian Peralta Actually I think Bruce Springsteen represents everything good about the US. I'm from Argentina and used to have a pretty low opinion on Americans, but with time I learned there's as much good stuff as bad stuff. Bruce is the embodiment of the good stuff.
I cannot fathom how Springsteen wrote this song.
5:05 Thanks to all our Fans

Its true, thats why the song lasts from his apartment to LSPD
Everytime i hear this song it's like the first time Ive heard it, so beautiful
Now i know why he is called the Boss. Fantastic
Nostalgia is such a trippy thing. You’re looking back likely at a happy time, but all you feel is sadness. 🥲🥲🥲
When I listen to Born to Run.... so do my neighbors!
Mine too lol
😁👍😂
nice!!
same
There's only one way to play a Springsteen song... Loud!
Chris Martin once called Bruce the greatest artist of all time...he was right
Nico REALLY?!?!
Christopher Garcia yeah
I think he called Richard Ashcroft the best, not sure if he said something like this for tye 'Boss'
My all time favourite Springsteen song.
An Anthem for Life ! Baby we were born to run ❤️🇮🇪
Went to see Bruce Springsteen at Wembley Stadium in 1985 , best concert I've ever been to !! Four and a half hours of pure joy !!!
I was there and you are spot on what a day!!!!!!!!
5m from the stage my sister and GF with me. Lost my sister, feet never touched the ground, boy and thank you to my GF I was satisfied x
I was there too. One of the best.
Man , did he perform that day....80,000 punters, incredible stamina and energy, slapping high fives with the crowd and sliding down those ramps ! everyone went home buzzing , that night.
4 and a half hours..... probably still playing
