We miss your vídeos, man. Can't wait to see the built of this beautiful peace. This is, indeed, one of the best peaces you've done. And coming from you, that's saying a lot. Congratulations!
I couldn't wait to watch this as soon as I saw the picture. It was when I saw pegged through mortise & tenon joints over 30 years ago that made me want to become a woodworker. The sliding dovetails are also great features. The upcurved breadboard ends add a lot to the design. I love the contrast in wood tones. I have found that there is nothing I do that provides the same satisfaction as woodworking. Although incredibly frustrating at times, I'm sure you really enjoyed building this piece. Without enough work space, woodworking is still only a hobby for me. I only build smaller projects for now but am looking forward to owning a woodshop of my own some day. Until then, I'll keep buying clamps and learning from videos like yours. This was truly a masterpiece that would win awards if you entered them into contests. I look forward to seeing the finished product. Thanks for sharing this video with us Chris!
just stumbled on your channel, you are a true craftsman. my grandfather was a Japanese carpenter. He built some beautiful pieces. He would be impressed by your talent and quality.
Stunning build, can’t wait to see the video. Lighting in the new shop is tremendous, beautiful footage and I love the small dado accent on the leg to strengthen the shelf and add the subtle design integration. Really beautiful
This was perfect as a vanity desk for me. czcams.com/users/postUgkxMAlHv7-BBWMrPRm5-uEoD6rtdT7SG2Qr Especially the glossy finish. Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.
I wish you where my neighbour! I'd love to stop by, help keep the workshop tidy, make tea, be a runner, just to see and learn more about this whole process of how you work. It's absolutely fascinating 😎
Hey mate, I love the work you've put in here and I especially like the "hand hammer" instead of reaching for an actual hammer 😄😄😄 Keep up the good work. 👍
Really enjoyed watching this! This is like one giant teaser for what I hope is a bunch of vides to come on your process for this project. I see so many details that need to featured. Great work!
I love your craftsmanship ! you're a Master in this Art. This is a true masterpiece of furniture. Congratulations ! I like that your carpentry style promotes the woodworking more at a true hand-craft, rather than the technology used for a piece of furniture put together with pocket-joints... Keep up the good work. There's a lot I can learn from you. Thank you. 🙏
Another beautiful masterpiece Chris. I built the tressel table from your plans I purchased a few years ago. Took me 6 months lol. I always enjoy your work man. Keep the videos coming sir!
Man have I missed your videos. I ordered your plans for the farm table a while back and so far, have built two for my daughters and they love them. Both were out of walnut. Now my wife wants one and this one will be made from oak. Thanks for all you do.
Bro, this is fantastic! One for the great grandkids to argue who gets to keep it in their house(or wherever people will be living in 100 years) Great work!
the craftsmanship on this in INCREDIBLE. I've been wanting to jump into hand cut joinery and things like that but I have no idea where to really begin. Watching youtube videos and actually doing it is so different 😅
Haha. It can be intimidating for sure but you gotta just go for it. Expect to make mistakes and be ok with that and you’ll learn a ton from that first project and get better each time
So, start the way apprentices did. Get some junk wood, get your hammer, chisel, saw and marking implement and make a joint. Then do it again. And again. For example, if you make a bunch of dovetails in 1x4 white wood or poplar, cut off just below the base of the join and do it again, you can get a lot made from one 8 foot board. Learning as you go and developing skill with each practice attempt. And then, when you want, you can use like pallet wood (watch out for metal) and learn on hardwood. Afterwards, they make good starting kindling for firepits.
My man.....Welcome back! It's about 4-5 months since the last video. You and your works of art have been missed! I am dying to see the full build video. I mean those drop in tenon to sliding dove tails are amazing. I can't imagine how hard those were to get right. You make one of a kind peices. Hope you have more coming soon.
This build, your workshop, your approach and attitude, the care for the craft and your energy you emit is so inspiring. Thank you brother, this is exactly what I needed in my,life today 🙏
Simon r said what I was about to put down. Figured something happened (life, injury, illness, the list goes on), but now you're back. Glad to know all is well. This table is amazing. I have been dying to get back into my shop, but it's not air conditioned and the temperatures here in Kansas have been upper 90's to as high as 108. I can deal with low 90's pretty well, but that's a little over the top. Things are looking up though, and hopefully within the next 2-3 weeks I can get back out there. Great job. Can't wait to see the build video.
Thank so much for the kind words and thinking about me. I’m really happy to be putting videos and projects out again too. Hopefully I can keep it going!
Vraiment génial votre meuble de style japonnais. Je regrette de ne pas maîtriser l'anglais car j'aurais aimé comprendre vos commentaires. Chapeau l'artiste
Absolutely Beautiful and very elegant design and very clean lines. Wow. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep Making. God bless.
Really awesome job Chris. Its rare to see a woodworking video that inspires one to create something. I appreciate your obvious passion and excitement. I can see you put quality into each joint. Thanks for sharing your craft and joy.
Man this is such an amazing piece. Always brings a smile to my face when you post a new video, everything about them is so wholesome. Can't wait for the full build video!
You are one of the most inspiring woodworkers I have seen, this is a very beautiful piece. Cannot wait to see it with the finish and more on the build. Very awesome, TY.
The piece has so much good, so much soul, going for it. There couldn't have been a better way to see you back into the land of the Tube. I hope all is well.
Yeah, that's a lot of work... Everything had to be so precise for everything to come together with no issues. Incredible job man! This is one of those pieces that you really can't put a price on.
You're always stepping your game up and inspiring us to do the same. I totally love this piece and you should be extremely proud. Thanks for sharing with us! Looking forward to the next video!
@@ThirdCoastCraftsman I've been watching you since before your Japanese bookcase. It's fascinating to watch your development and such an inspiration for a guy like me, so very many steps behind your journey. I've moved into a semi-truck full time, so given up my own workshop for the time being. I've bought a scroll saw so can complete a few small projects in my down time, but it's cathartic to watch guys like Kieth Rucker, Abom79 and your good self to live a little vicariously (and continue to learn) whilst my own pastimes are on hold and I save every cent for my own makers space. It's good to have you back, sir!
Another beautiful, quality piece of work. I always enjoy seeing your projects because they are top notch. I can't imagine how much planning must go into making all those joints work the way you want them to. Just amazing.

Piece
That is some of the best work I have ever seen - best 17 minutes I have spent for a long, long, long time.
Haha. Thank you so much
The complexity of this is mind-bending. I guess it's just do one step at a time, eh? Great job.

What a rad piece. Your mortise-ry is so clean. I really enjoy your blue shop walls and contrasting dark wood. Calming and grounding.
Thank you!
that top seat-to-frame joint has me scratching my head... looking forward to the build video... inspiring work

Wow! Gorgeous work, Chris. That's gotta be so satisfying assembling that. That belongs in a museum.
Thanks bud. Yes super fun to assemble!
That table is gorgeous. You should be very proud!

I cannot like this enough. Beautiful work as always my friend.

Outstanding work!!!
That piece is outstanding. Your design skills are top notch. Wish you continued success.
Thank you!
This is awesome. Your videos have really helped me on my own woodworking journey, thank you.
As always I’m amazed at the precision of your work. It’s another masterpiece. So good to see you and I hope Utz is still keeping you company.
Haha thank you. Unfortunately Utz would rather follow my kids around all day and pick up their scraps than hang with me haha
This is a beautiful piece of furniture. thank you for sharing
Beautiful work. Inspiring
I hope this is the start of you bringing out more build videos again! Miss them so much
Thanks Tim. I appreciate that and yes hopefully lots more
Dude!
I am older than you, but I want to be like you when I grow up.....
Very Nice Build....!
Respect!
Hahahaha
Bil Hart.
Sir I know exactly what you mean 😣
Exquisite craftsmanship and refined attention to detail.
This the most incredible build I have seen. Inspiring (which is woodworker for "I have to try some of those techniques now."
