This movie is bonkers, but in a good way or a bad way? See the crazy movie that came out before the hit TV show! Nostalgia Critic takes a look at Supergirl.
Supergirl is a 1984 superhero film directed by Jeannot Szwarc and written by David Odell. Based on the DC Comics character of the same name, it is a spin-off from Alexander and Ilya Salkind's Superman film series. The film stars Helen Slater as Supergirl, along with Faye Dunaway, Mia Farrow, and Peter O'Toole, with Marc McClure reprising his role as Jimmy Olsen from the Superman films. He was the only actor to do so.

Did Malcolm recently get married? I've noticed there's a ring on his left ring finger in many of his scenes. If so, congratulations!
Hi nostalgia critic I got my front tooth chipped and my a little scrape up because I tried to crop dust my sister
My Wednesday's going pretty good! thanks for asking!
You make the best "paid endorsements"!! I always skip over them on other videos. But yours are freaking hilarious! "This is my thinking couch" HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Dont Dis this movie... dont you dare... LOL I actually liked it. I liked your vid, until the stamps commercial...
Ok, I gotta admit: the porn movie running gag might be one of the funniest NC jokes ever :D
I mean, I would say that the reason for that is because it makes so much sense.
Honestly it genuinely explains a lot about this movie
I was actually waiting for the squirt scene to come up and see what they would do with it and they did make a pretty funny joke, but I think they missed the "other" meaning of squirt in porn movies (or so I've heard! ☺). I'd rather not elaborate because this is a family comment section but I'm sure everyone can figure it out for themselves 😝
I wanted to comment the same thing! And Malcolm's reactions just crack me up!
Funny & NC go hand to hand.
Someone, 2007.
Fun Fact: The actress who plays Supergirl in this movie, is the mom of Kara in the Supergirl Television series. Also, the father is Dean Cain, who played Superman.
She is also Clark's birth mother on Smallville.
Whoa whoa whoa wait... Does that mean... The Supercousins... ~shagged?
Wait, she’s Kara’s mom in the Arrowverse?
@@ezelfrancisco1349 dc often uses the actors they have already used to play characters in other shows Teri Hatcher who is Lois Lane in Lois and Clark came back to play Lois's mom on Smallville and Mon-El's mom on Supergirl, Dean Cane who was clark on Lois and Clark came back to play a villain on Smallville and Kara's adoptive father on Super Girl. The voice actor of Darksreid for Superman the animated Series and Justice League the animated series came back to Smallville to play General Sam Lane. Even Anette O'Toole who was Martha Kent on Smallville played Lana Lang in Superman 3.

the sponsorship was just an excuse for Doug to film his cat being a cat.

Doug laughing while voicing Chaplin is amazingly funny.
For a witch/sorceress, she's got some pretty lowzy henchmen. Orcs, goblins, zombies, demons; those are henchmen. Old people, no.
Or flying monkeys, robots, actual people who have been cleverly manipulated, etc.

*In the background*
_You suck, Blazkowicz!_
Must say I'm disappointed you didn't give props for the one good thing about this movie; Helen Slater looked _phenomenal_ as Supergirl!
Even as old as she is now she is still freaking hot.
Much better than what ever is supposed to be Supergirl in the flash film.
Considering the state of the “DCEU”, I’m not sure what will happen with Henry Cavill’s take on Superman. But with James Gunn’s help, I have an idea for how to incorporate a “Supergirl” to be more like the wholesome country person Superman was supposed to be. PLEASE HEAR ME OUT! 😊
As “Superwoman”, she could have a similar origin to Superman, but be enough of her own person. She could have no relation to Kal-El, & grow up on a farm in Missouri (rather than Kansas). Despite being Called Kara-Zod, making her a neice to General Zod who got disowned by the family before Krypton exploded. Kara, named “Linda Danvers” on Earth, would keep a low profile & protect the Earth after the Justice League disbanded. She could make the ultimate sacrifice deeming humanity to be “worth it”, where another guy called “ALEXANDER J. LUTHER” is president of the United States. Just to be honest, it’s actually common for 2 different people to have the same name, like one hell of a coincidence.
Anyway, Luther wants to let a Kryptonite ASTEROID strike Earth so that he could rule over what’s left after the impact & use his background in real estate to sell a post-apocalyptic “new world” to all the people he would rule over with an iron fist. He plans to turn the former United States into a fascist “new world order” with himself as its ruthless dictator. He could make up for Jesse Eisenberg’s pathetic take on “Lex Luthor”, even if it’s under a slightly different name for copywright issues. Luckily, Linda would fly into the asteroid & destroy it, becoming the hero humanity need after she restored their faith in humanity herself. Luther would be impeached & handed a life sentence for his crimes against humanity.
@@georgeeastwood6930 why is this a reply to my comment?
@@JakkFrost1 I’m wondering who could play her today. How would you feel about Luther being president of the United States, like in “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies”?

I just love how the lady playing Selena is just giving it 150% of her batshit craziness and loving every minute of it.
The lady being Faye Dunaway, a big name actress in her day. In fact, quite a few fairly big names got suckered into this movie.
I honestly think Peter O'Toole saw what a steaming dumpster fire the movie was turning out to be and went and got utterly shit-faced for the remaining duration of the shooting, then they just had to go with him like that for his scenes.
Faye Dunaway. Legendary actress in a BS movie. Lol.

As a person that landscapes for a living, seeing that dude trying to unnecessarily prune a tree with a hand saw made me laugh.
The character is not written intelligently even before he gets ensorcelled, so that's no surprise.

I thought the Phantom Zone was reserved for the worst criminals and most dangerous monsters in the universe. even other universes use it as a dumping ground for those they want to get rid of. heck, they even once tried to throw DoomsDay in there, only for him to escape later on. in Injustice, some character campaigns end with Superman being trapped in there forever. Zarbon (DevilArtemis): *moans*
@28:09 Every time I watch this I just imagine Bellatrix Lestrange, Maleficent, Madam Satan, and Marie Laveau watching Madam Selena and _laughing at her._
Someone once asked me if this was a Disney movie. I don't blame him.
I read this comment to the tune of 'Allstar' for some reason and now I can't unhear it wth
@@wolfclaw719 I can feel that, but this wasn't supposed to be an Allstar reference. I just feel like Supergirl is more Disney than DC.
Well that explains alot.
"Are they trying to hypnotize us?" No, just give you a splitting headache.
i believe the word you looking for is, AHHH!
Hi, Max! Remember me? I'm Fred's hand!

The movie was already doing that.
Rhomega I was waiting for that reference
