First Digit:
Rotate the dial clockwise with a slight upward pressure on the shackle. You will feel and hear a click in one location where the wheel gets stuck. The first combination digit is this stuck location plus 5. In the video it's 10+5=15
Second Digit:
Lift shackle slightly and rotate clockwise until you feel a hard stop. Rotate the dial counter clockwise, again applying mild upward pressure on the shackle. The lock will get snagged again at only one point. This is your second number. If the dial gets stuck at multiple points, reduce your pressure on the shackle. In this video, the number is 29.
Third Digit:
Find this last digit with simple trial and error. Solve the first two combinations, and then pull the shackle up and turn the dial slowly until you see the lock open. In this video, the number is 23.

After the first number you kinda yada yadad over a step with the second number. Looked like you just kinda spun the dial a little more and started going the other direction?
@@common.sense88 No yada yada or anything special going on there. My turning it was just force of habit I think. The point is that for 2nd digit, you must lift shackle slightly and turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE about 3 times until you hit the stop. Then reverse direction and feel for second digit. GOOD LUCK!
Does this work with the School edition 1525 V60 with the override key in the back? I made a spreadsheet with the expected numbers but cannot crack. Mine jams at 10 for first no then 3 for counter-clockwise exactly like your demo. Check your clockwise - counter in step 2 instructions.
Finally Opened. Yours first stuck 9-10 you said 10, mine 10-11 so 16. Your Second shows stuck 2 snagging 28 but you said 29, mine stuck 3 but no snagging at 30. Third 4 but shackle needed to be pushed down then lifted as per Master Lock Anti Shim 1525 Instruction yt clip comb 28-30-4.

The 3 steps summary:
1. Turn clockwise 3 cycle to reset, lift up lock midway, turn clockwise until snugged, the number + 5
2. Turn clockwise 3 cycle to reset, lift up lock midway, turn counterclockwise 3 cycle until snugged, lift up lock slightly higher, turn clockwise until snugged again
3. Turn clockwise 3 cycle to reset, turn clockwise to code #1, turn counterclockwise ONE cycle to code #2, turn clockwise slowly while lifting the shackle until unlocked

I must be stupid because I am trying these tips to open mine and I have no idea what I am doing wrong.
Some locks are different. The ones I’ve done had +5 first number, and also +5 first number and -5 second number

Maybe it is a faulty lock.
I figured it out. From another video the dude explains for the first number you add 5 or 6 rarely 4. Mine was the one that uses the number 6.

just saved me big time bro. I was locked out of my military gear on boot leave and was about to head off to combat training. I had put the locks on my bags while I was home. And somehow completely forgot the combination. So you just save me two brand new bags. cheers.

Yeah but when you’re in the military you sometimes don’t have access to a hardware store … so you gotta get creative!
My school locked my locker with my money and copies in it because I haven't paid for my school books (holding my property ransom). So, I'm gonna open the lock, leave the books, and tape a note to the locker saying "Thanks for using a MasterLock :)"
I'm gonna do it to a few lockers so they don't know it's me. I have a vendetta against them now.

@chellgarcia1851 nah. They opened my locker about 4 months ago. But I could open the still locked lockers. Y'know, justice and all for making me use a single fucking copy and ruining the first few months of my 3rd year education, an important year in Irish schools.

I had a hard time finding the second number:
Here's what I did.
First number is the number that the dial catches on +5. So if dial catches on 10 then the first number is 15.
Second number is first number plus (2 + factor of 4). Second number is first number +2, +6, +10, +14, +18, +22, +26, +30, +34, +38.
So once you get first number there are just 10 second numbers that you have to cycle through.
Last number you can keep pulling as you turn slowly or it will be second number -2, then then every fourth number..
If first number is 19 then second number could be 21, 25, 29, 33, 37, 1, 5, 9, 13, 17.
If first number is 19 then last number could be 23, 27, 31, 35, 39, 3, 7, 11, 15.

Perfect. The second number I did by feel was consistent, but I couldn't get the last number. Spent hours on it because I have successfully done others by feel. This one was stubborn. Followed your formula and got it in 2 minutes. Thanks.

Ive spent maybe 3 hours trying this. Glad to say I finally got it to work. The second number was the hardest. There was no definitive "catch" when I was rotating the wheel clockwise so I had to try a few different areas where it caught and just hope. For the third, make sure you keep on rotating all the way around until you reach your second number, dont stop at 0! Also go watch a video on the internals of these locks, helps with visualization. Thanks for the video mate, got my old high school lock open 7 years after last using it.

Man my son needed a lock for his PE locker at school. And I had a couple of these locks laying around from my locker in the military. Couldn't remember the damn combo. This is amazing. I was having trouble finding the 2nd number at first but then I closed my eyes while turning the dial and found it by just concentrating on feeling.

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH. The trick if your not getting it is to find where the tension makes it feel rough in a bunch of places then slowly release tension until it only snags in one spot then use that amount of tension for the rest of this method. Hope this helps!
Edit: Make sure you know how to open a combo lock too lol. Heres how to do it incase you don't. First spin the dial clockwise 3 times, If you mess up the combo you must do this then restart. Then spin the dial clockwise until the arrow is on the first number. Then turn the dial counterclockwise until the dial is back on fist number. Then turn the dial counterclockwise until the dial is on the second number. Then turn the dial Clockwise until the dial is on the last number. Then pull the shackle/locker latch open

This is the one. Don’t bother with any other videos. After spending about 2 hours trying the math method and other “by feel” methods, none were as simple yet as elegant as this one and ACTUALLY WORKED! I had it unlocked after watching the video only 3 times.

If it doesn't work: on the first step try adding 4 or 6 instead of 5. My snag was at 10 and my number was 14.

Hell Yeah! I've had a cheap combination Master Lock that I've been holding on to for several years and I forgot the combination but all of the sudden a combination popped in my head and I was thinking 08 when it was 18.

Took me a few tries but it definitely works! Had a harder time trying to find the second number but pulling up the shackle slightly and feeling for a slight snag was the key. If it felt like it was stuck its bc i was using too much pressure. After about 30 minutes of toying i got my lock open. Thanks so much

got the first number correct every try. but the second number i was having issues with. which then i second guessed the first number and it all went downhill from there. at one point i actually had the correct second number but not the first.
gave up and looked at the answer. (16,30,00) lol
going to go and buy more locks. but at $5 a lock kinda expensive. 😅 but i wana get good at it.

My lock doesn't like to get that sweet spot where it doesn't glide freely but it doesn't snag everywhere all at once. It's really difficult to get, it's either too much or too little pressure and i don't know what to do about it

I forgot the combination to my bike lock that was locked with a master combination lock and this actually worked. I really thought that you would have to have experience to do this but you really don’t.
I did it on two. It worked on a master brand combination lock. And it didn’t work on a non brand combination lock. Also, there was some wiggle room on 1 or two digits “off”. But keep at it and I got one working. One less lock to the landfill. Thanks for the instructions.

Yup. It works.
Just getting the first number from the snag point plus the last number from the traditional method of finding stop points narrows it down to ten combinations, which can be dialed in quickly.
Also, I remember once reading about the technique you use to find the first number somewhere buried deep in a text file on a bulletin board server, never could verify it myself because it was poorly explained. Until I found this video, of course.

I don’t remember the details and I don’t have a lock handy but I think the second number is found by pulling the shackle down and turning the knob until it hits solid. LMK

Thanks, used this to open an old lock I thought I had forgot the number too. Turns out I was off by ~1 on every digit. Not sure if the internals were worn or what but it just wouldn’t work with the original combo

Worked for me. I am not sure if this was part of the instructions, but I think after the catch you have to rotate 360 degrees to the right before looking for the second number.

my particular master lock catches on several points either way you rotate it, i know the combination so i was able to determine that it would snag on the correct numbers but it also snagged on many others making it hard to guess without many attempts

The lock im trying to do is so cheap that there are several catch point on the dial bc of the hive between the lock housing and the dial. How do u accurately feel for the number?
