- On this episode of Ultimate Barrier Testing, we will compare the performance of the 308 Win to the 30-06 and the 300 Win Mag on 4 different targets. Each target is worth 25 points (winner takes all), for a grand total of 100 points. Whichever cartridge ends up with the highest score will be the winner. Testing was setup at 50 yards. Steel is A529 grade 55 mild steel. 1 inch = 25.4 mm. Thanks for watching!
*These tests are meant for entertainment and educational purposes only. Do not try any of these tests at home! Always verify your setup is rated for and can safely fire any ammunition that you intend to use.

Where 30-06 steps away from 308 is when throwing heavier bullets. The 308 loses powder volume to accomodate longer bullets, where 30-06 has ample room for the slug and the extra powder starts to really pull its weight.
Yep.
Compressed loads my mans
Thats why its the best hunting round 👍
So long as the rifle does not fail due to overpressure.
@@DavidFMayerPhD you can't make an overpressure load with 308 that will damage the gun if you are using the correct powder. There isn't enough case volume. Even with a 150gr projectile, I can fill the case to the brim with varget and compress the powder and barely get primer flattening.
This is like watching engine dyno testing… don’t know why I watch it, but I keep doing it! Lol
On the F ING MONEY ! 😂
It's a guy thing, it's hard to understand.
All I know 99% or woman hates how simple we are
Haha u watch the same shiz I do!
Me too dude, both.
Me too.
That round sticking through the steel was amazing. It wasn't even deformed.
How can that be possible? I don't think so. No, No. Smiles though. Thanks mister very entertaining video.
And then he hearts this comment? You didn't present this as a joke! You obviously stuck that in there yourself, having them on hand as a reloader.
Don't like being fucked with if your intention is to be presenting facts.
@@sphanselman6I can tell that you're pissed (?), but other than that I have no idea what you're trying to communicate...
When I saw it, my first thought was that if he fired another 1000 rounds he couldn't repeat that finish 😦
The old 30-06 is still a great round even in modern time .
I doubt it much matters on medium game.
I took 3 deer last season...
I've gotten away from optics lately so only one with a .30/06.
Deer #1 (27 yards)
.40 Caliber 46" John Bull Flintlock with 90 gr Pure Lead .390 RB and 55 gr of home milled black powder (approx. 2.5f with Carolina Buckthorn base)
Deer #2 (Est. 40 yards)
.38 WCF (.401 190 gr LF with full modern case of black, newer cases don't have room for original charge) 1892 Winchester Rifle.
Deer #3 (192 yards)
.30/06 Remington Model 30 with Lyman 48 Sight using Speer 165 gr Hot-Cor and H4350 (It was the next node down from max in my rifle, I don't post Smokeless charges).
None of them went over 50 yards.
30-06 is one of the OG "mag" rounds. Wherein the casing diameter is substantially larger than the round.
@@TheBasstead1 Yes and it can be necked down or up and get more velocity or more punch but of course different guns or barrels .
IT WON TWO WORLD WARS! Still love my '06.
If you could have only one rifle caliber, 30-06 is still probably the best all-around cartridge ever. IDK why they just don't incorporate it into new platforms.
It really could be the One Round To Rule Them All if the industry got on board, but I guess it isn't considered sexy.
The split between 308 and oht 6 isn't a surprise for me. My grampa ( WW2 vet, tail gunner and all around gun nerd ) told me that 308 was the replacement for 30/06 . Grampa and I would read ballistic charts and bench race ammo...I know nerd stuff. It was the fun part about learning to shoot with him and my uncle.
Correct the army wanted a replacement for the 30-06 but wanted the same ballistics. .308 was created to perform the same but with a shorter case
308 replaced the old 30-06 that was safe to fire in the M1 Garand. Modern 30-06 is more powerful, and will damage an M1. I don't know what happened with these handloads.
Is it the same grain bullets
@@Bob5mith yeah the powder used in 308 is different than that of the old 30-06.
@@DRAKED411 yes the bullets are interchangeable
I think it’s really cool that you shot the same projectile from the same length of rifle, with only the cartridges being different. That really helps narrow down their true differences.
That’s how you do an experiment
A true apples to apples comparison.
Far too often so called "comparisons" are apples to pineapples.
I also like that he made a comment about how the 30-06 and 308 were very close in results despite the 30-06 using a lot more powder to get there. Efficiency should be an important parameter for consideration when you are deciding on a caliber, if the results are that close.
The beauty of the .06 is the variety of bullet weights 110g to 220g give lots of options
Don't forget the accelerator. It was a 55 grain 22 cal in a sabot. It was over 3000 fps. Don't know how accurate it was. They still sell what you need to reload it.
@@keithharley9729 yeah they were cool. i didn’t know you could get reloads for it still though
55gr accellerator ammo is also available
@@The67wheelmanThe sabots are available for reloads.

Once again the 308 demonstrates how it is one of the most efficient cartridges available.
It's the G.O.A.T.
30.06 makes sense if you have a strong action and a long barrel to take advantage of hand loads.
Back when I used to hunt I had all 3 of these calibers. With the 300 and 30-06, even with good placement you might be blood trailing. With the 308 I never EVER had a deer take one step after a shot.
@@baaamakingbaaaa shot placement. same slug, even less energy, no magic. it's a very good cartridge, but it doesn't have mystical killing properties.
@@handroids1981the 300 win mag is….
I love the fact that you used the same bullet in all 3 calibers to make the test much more scientific.
But the 308 was in a semiautomatic.🙄
Another thing to consider that if you don't hand load, at current year (late March 2024) .308 is 65-70 cents a round, 30-06 is 90cents to a buck a round and 300 win mag is $1 - $.125 a round. So unless you really need that range or penetration (long distance open field shots against large animals) .308 is the best bang for the buck. 30-06 is just 30 extra cents worth of shoulder pain, apparently.
Absolutely correct on all counts. Other advantages for the .308 are lighter recoil and a compact size, resulting in a smaller firearm giving almost the same performance as the heavier 30-06 type.
my go to rifle for deer is still a 30-30 but that being said i own a 308, a 30/06 and aquired a 300 w mag from an uncle, aside from the 30-30 for Michigan deer ill take that 06 any day over the others with the options for the various bullet weights its a far better all around rifle, for range if i sight in all rifles including the 30-30 at 110 yards drop target back to 225 the 30-30 still hits dead ( high mount scope on a marlin 336c) the 308 hits 1 inch high with high rise scope mount, the 06 3 inches high with a high rise scope mount and 1/4 inch low with level mount, the 300 3 and 1/8 hoigh with high rise mount at 500 yards the 308 hits low by 27 inches, the 06 low by 13 and the 300 w mag 12 1/2 inches all three using high rise and of course the 30-30 hit 5 feet low now i was using a 4foot by 8 foot sheet of 3/4inch plywood, had the target or aim point set 5 inches from top of plywood my place of shot was just about level with top of the plywood, the reason i use 110 yards is simple that is the distance where i sit 90% of the time deer hunting to the edge of the thick pines yes i can shoot into them but the distance is 100% known at a glance
My understanding is that the 308 was developed to try to mimic 30-06 ballistics while utilizing a shorter action. To accomplish this, a faster burning powder is necessary. With that in mind, seeing little difference in the results between the two isn't surprising in the slightest. As others I seen here mention, the 30-06 is superior to 308 when it comes to loading heavier bullets such as 200 or 220 grain due to the greater internal volume of the case.
Yes. After some years, powder was improved, but could not be used in military .30-06 because it would damage the M1 Garand mechanism. The .308 was specified with the improved powder in a smaller case to exactly duplicate the military .30-06 with the same bullet. Modern bolt rifles are made to use modern .30--06 hunting ammo with higher pressure/velocity. I like 3000 fps velocities which I can get from either .270 Win 130 gr or .338 Win Mag 185 gr, a little faster than standard weight .30-06 150 gr,
@02:00 "I can't guarantee what the bullets are gonna do, but, ahh, I think we're good to go." I say this all the time at the range, great party trick.
Factory 308 out of the box being almost equal to 30-06 is the best it will ever get. The 30-06 has the extra case capacity to push deep-seated heavier bullets without decreasing the powder charge or push lighter bullets with increased powder charge. Much better versatility when you handload or with specialty ammo.
I like that you can seat bullets out further in the -06. Tho COAL has never stopped me with the 308 before either so... :D
@@googlesucks509 agreed and id add that its possible to give the ole 300 win a run for its money if you hand load the 06 with staball 6.5
Hunters tip. Buy expensive tough and light boots over a expensive and light rifle. Every pound on your foot is equal to 5 on your back. You will appreciate it if you hunt in Rockies or other true mountainous areas.
Yep. I'm 60+ and elk hunt the high-ups of Idaho.
Check out vivobarefoot boots. I've no affiliation just love these boots.
I loaded 30-06 AP projectiles (174 gr) into .308 cases. I think I used Hornady's minimum powder load, don't remember the powder. Shot AR500 plates at 200 yards with the loads. I found no apparent damage on the AR500 plates from the AP projectiles, but they made spectacular bright, flashes of sparks when the projectiles hit!
They were not real AP then.
@@rifleshooterchannel208 Yes, they were/are. Steel inserts, black tip, from WWII 30-06 ammunition. Pulled from ammo that had corrosive primers.
Granted, not up to the quality of today's armor piercing ammunition.
Definitely not the same armor piercing projectile inserts that the boy scout troop I was with found on the firing range of Fort Sill, OK, which I think were tungsten carbide. Even after stripped from the copper/lead sheath of NATO ammo, those had needle sharp points.
I did load the projectiles with the slowest speed in the Hornady manual for that bullet weight. That may have had something to do with the results. Faster speeds produce better penetration.
@@RetiredRadioChaser I wish I knew where to get any AP bullets. There was a debate years ago over whether or not your barrel would lose accuracy after shooting AP ammo. A lot of guys thought it would, but I never had enough AP ammo for my Garand to find out. I still shoot NRA HP Rifle with the Garand although the world has moved on. Only a few powders are appropriate for the Garand and God knows off the shelf commercial ammo that isn't designed for the Garand will eventually wreck one.
@@BicBradleyI found a facebook market ad for a vintage barrel vice that was cheap. Met the guy selling it at a storage facility where he was selling stuff he bought at an estate sale. Went for a 2 5 dol lor vice and spent almost 3 0 0 dol lars for stuff that had belonged to a gunsmith.
Among the stuff I bought were 40 or 50 WWII 30-06 AP rounds. I don't know if they were for a Garand or for a machine gun. They were loose. I pulled them and discarded the cartridges because I suspect they had corrosive primers.
I also gave the wrong weight of the projectiles. They are 164 gr, not 174. One odd thing I found about the projectiles. They are FMJ Flat Base as pulled from the cartridge, but the steel core looks like a boat tail projectile.
You can buy M2 AP online, but they are not cheap. I just checked and found one company selling them for 3 Washington's each! I think they were 1953 vintage and non corrosive.
I believe the jacket is the same as used for a non AP M2 round. Mine tested magnetic as pulled but only the steel core is magnetic with lead in the tip of the projectile and lead in the base to make up for the shorter steel core versus the longer gilding alloy jacket. Not like some Soviet 7.62x54R projectiles I have which have steel, copper wash jackets, and a lead core.
Thanks. I like my 300wm. Excellent cartridge.
The mild steel he is using is probably A36 steel for those of you that may want to purchase it. There is a huge difference between A36 steel and AR 500 steel. Where A36 steel will be penetrated, AR 500 steel will barely be dented. AR 500 steel is INSANE. Its also not readily available, has to be special ordered and is very expensive. If your going to bullet proof a car, AR500 steel is the way to go.
That's awesome how it caught the bullet! I've got a 556 bullet souvenir that I found like that on the back side of a stump I was shooting at last year.

One idea you could use for the sand penetration is multiple cereal boxes. It would at least let you see what travels the farthest in sand a little easier.
I agree this is a better idea. I hope Banana Ballistics reads your comment. Dang good idea.

I'm a huge fan of the .308. I have a Kel-Tec RFB in .380 that is quite a bit in a small package. A 300 yard shot is easy for a .308 in an 18" barrel, on that style rifle it isn't scoped for more than that. It's really a well suited combination for a truck/farm rifle.
Years ago, we had a dump truck leaf spring as a gong at 100 yards at our outdoor range. It was hit with 30 06 and everything below. Just blew the paint or rust off it. I bought a 300 win magTikka m65 deluxe left hand bolt rifle and tried it 3 times on the leaf spring. When we walked up to it, there were 3 jagged holes through it. I was quite surprised. It was removed after that. I’m of the belief that the hardness of the spring steel was great up to a certain point but the extra foot pounds of the 300 was enough to cause the fractured holes. Note they were a little jagged, not as clean as the holes in this video. Ar500 is a whole different ball game of course.
I experimented with pulled M2 163 gain AP bullets loaded for the 300 Win Mag several years ago. My load consist of 74.0 gr. of Nobel Sport's Vectan Tubal 8000 powder, Federal Cases and Winchester LRM primers. Shot from by 26 inch heavy barrel Remington 700 Long Range rifle, that round has an average muzzle velocity of 3,344 fps +/- 20 fps. Based on your 300 Win Mag test result, I believe my round would have went through the 1 inch steel plate.
Yeah. His tests would be so much better if he at least hinted at the load data he’s using.
I propped up an AR500 plate on a 6” log at 100 yards and shot it with an M2AP projectile at 3100fps from a .300WM.
Sailed right through the plate and exited the log and buried itself who knows how far into the mud of the berm.
@@deeza3384 Uncoated AR500 and was about 8mm.
You should try some .303 Mk7 ball ammo with the aluminium nose-cone under the jacket. This will go through 1/2” mild steel and leaves a prodigious sized hole. I tested all this stuff in the 1970’s. New Zealand made CAC Mk7 ball, 1958 headstamp was more effective than Lake City 30/06 M2 ball ammo at penetrating steel plate. I am not sure why but maybe an artefact of the bullet design, I only know what actually happened when we tested them. The 30/06 Black-Tip AP was a different story - the tungsten penetrator seemed like it hardly slowed down and left a small, clean hole. Whereas the M2 ball just heavily cratered the surface. All tests at 100 yards. That’s what happens when 16 year old spends all his spare cash on surplus rifles and ammo, before girls and motorcycles changed it all!
198gr military 8x57 spitzer FMJ was very penetrative against tree stumps. Never did try it on the steel.
Much later on I found a .308 with 168gr Hornady match pills reliably penetrates 10mm mild steel plate.
The “pissant” .303 was the real surprise, but when you consider the real performance 174gr @ 2440 fps vs the M2 150gr @ around 2740 fps there’s not much between them. Norma used to advertise their commercial .303 150gr ammo as doing 2700fps. The .303 Mk8Z ammo was more than equivalent to the WW2 30/06 in any practical scenario. Bullet efficiency with a heavier but streamlined profile starting out slightly slower usually trumps light, faster loads at distance. BC is king. But you can get a lot more out of the 30/06 than the military loads then in common use, with careful handloading. All these cartridges were loaded for reliability in varying climates and conditions so hot-rodding was less than desirable.
There’s no hiding behind upturned tables or cars with any of them!
Quickly becoming my favourite gun channel.
This really throws shade on the 30-06 in a tangible, hard-data kinda way.
Even if the performance were more significant, it wouldn't justify the added powder and recoil.
Not necessarily because this is only one bullet weight. The 30-06 still is great because you can get it in as light at 110 grains to as heavy as 220 grains from factory. So, it has that versatility going for it. It's more of a jack of all trades round. Not necessarily the best but able to be used in a variety or application. As for recoil that's all up to the firearm used to shoot. My m1 shooting 30-06 has way less recoil than my buddies ar10 shooting 308.
Yeah when hand loaded properly 150 gr is similar, move to a 180 and it starts to show, now about 200 fps faster with a higher bc= a couple hundred yds of added range with the same energy. It’s a hungry case that is neutered with 150 gr, originally shot 220 gr as a 30-03, thankfully they kept the 1/10 twist.
@@number3665that’s because the m1 can’t handle high pressures. It’s limited to chamber pressures much lower than modern stuff. You have to shoot M1 specific ammo or get a gas block that vents off pressure to not blow up, or really damage, a garand. I own 1 and love it but it’s definitely the mildest of 30-06 compared to modern off the shelf stuff
@@gavincline209 My m1 has been rebuilt so new barrel national match OP rod and all. So I don't have to use the mild ammo in it that I would in an original 70 year old one. I regularly send high pressure modern rounds through it fine. Still don't kick as hard as my buddies' AR10 lol.
@@number3665that’d be a nice upgrade for sure but idk if I’d want to change mine out for the older “original” stuff. Kinda what makes them cool, there individual history of what it’s been thru over time.

Fascinating. I’m an 06 fan. Two Garands plus a Winchester 740. Good for anything on the North American continent.

30/06 is actually a REALLY GOOD round for ap
oh blah blah blah. If you're going long action you might as well get the .300 win mag. If you want a short action with incredible versatility you might as well get the .308. The '06 in between there just kinda fills a gap that isn't necessary.
@@ambienceizationAn extra 3/4” of bolt travel is too much for you to handle?
Talking about powder use at the end, .308 is probably one of the most efficient rounds to reload for bang for the buck. One thing I learned researching .300 win mag is eventually you won't get any more velocity out of it past 3200 FPS... BUT you can keep upping bullet weight and get some pretty wild velocities vs .30 and .30-06
I'd really like to see what an M1917 would do with those black tips. That's a 26" barrel. I think it would get views. I got one if you need it, plenty others do too. There is actually a way to mount scopes to them as well without cutting anything on the rifle.
i love the 30-06. the amount of load data is huge with loads from 110grn to 220grn..and even a 50grn 22cal in a sabot exiting the bore at around 4100fps! the 308 is not as versatile. the 300mag is a pretty impressive cartridge but if i was going for mag level performance ide chose the 30-378 Weatherby Magnum. yup..mmmhmmm
I got the same Savage. Mine came with a muzzle break which is nice.
The velocities between the 308 and 30-06 seemed very similar. I guess that's why we don't use it anymore.
The 7.62x51 Nato was intended to equal the military 30'06(7.62x63) while fitting in smaller mechanisms.
If you're gonna go long action, you might as well go up at least to 300WM!

Winchester came up with .308/7.62x51 by improving powders to the point where they could shorten the .30-06 by about 1/2" without losing velocity with the bullets that they'd used with '06 military loads up to that point. Bearing that in mind, it's not a big surprise that the .308 and the '06 had comparable performance.
Or they just realized they could meet the performance of the watered down M1 Garand loads with a shorter cartridge.
@@rifleshooterchannel208 If 147 grains at a nominal 2800 fps is "watered down", then yes, that's what they did, both with M2 and M80 ball.
I remember the 1st time I shot a 300 Win Mag (1997). That's one Spicy 🔥 308! It's also why I bought a 7mm STW the same year. Spicy, but kicks a lot less. 🤠
My first time was around 3 weeks ago. And i have a silencer on. It was even close to my 45-70 or my last 375 h&h
@@michaelstalenberg2407 My 300 WM was brutal with nothing on the end. The recoil wasn't bad with just the muzzle brake but the blast was incredible. The silencer tamed the blast, but about half the difference in recoil came back.
I shot a .338 Win magnum about 44 years ago, I think I can still see the bruise on my shoulder from that one (and only) shot.
I'd recommend using steel plates and wood blocks that are at least twice as wide at the frame of the holder. Having them be the same width guarantees they will flop out of the holder on each shot. That would also give you the ability to shift them slightly to move previous hits out of the way. Appreciate the effort to produce this content.
Find some old school mil spec AP 30-06 rounds with the original powder. It'll go through that plate. I've done it. Year ago at a gun show I bought like 20rds of that stuff from WWII (M2 AP) and man it hits. So does the AP rounds for the German 8mm Mauser. Just wicked stuff.
M2AP is pretty decent. There is a version of 7.62x51 AP made by FN called P80 or also M61. That has a harder steel core than M2AP and has been known to penetrate better. Edit: might be wrong - see Buffman Range's reply below
I have compared the 2 in 308 and I believe that the P80 did perform slightly better than the M2 like you mentioned, from what I remember.
The steel core hardness is about the same, but all data I've seen shows the M2AP penetrator is better. It's longer and heavier.

That was pretty frigging cool I must say especially the last shot with the 300 win mag through 1" steel and the point of the bullet sticking out the other side I would have never thought that was possible. Lol. Loved it.

I was just wishing last week you'd do 30-06 vs 300 Wing Mag. Thank you!
For your tikka 300wm id recomend getting a three chamber lateral, or swept back muzzlebrake(as long as it doesnt impart a moment of inertia on the barrel) and extend the length of pull with a slip on limbsaver recoil pad. If your feeling fancy get a stock spacer. It also helps if your scope has a good amount of eye relief. I heard something about bavkfiretv's recoil pad lookin pretty sweet though

I couldn't hear any music because I always wear my ear plugs and safety glasses while watching the target shooting .
I had to fill my Winchester Model 70 stock with fiberglass body filler because the .300 Win Mag kicked so bad. It really smooths out the recoil. When you missed the 30-06 I had to laugh because I had a friend reload some .300 with black tips, and they were so inaccurate I couldn't hit a barn wall from the inside.
Had an army field manual years ago. That had a chart for barrier material stopping abilities. They had wood and sand covered. While I dont recall all of the exact numbers. I do remember that sand did an excellent job of absorbing projectiles.
Love your stuff! Especially, the music. Haha.
This was a true apples to apples comparison. Excellent.
I still hunt with the ol' OT 6 so this test was especially interesting to me.
The 300wm projectile sticking out of the plate was trippy.
Mr. Banana, please do 9mm vs 30 Super Carry!
Should have a 9mm video out next week. I’ll be thinking about the 30 super carry for a future video though
9mm wins
Interesting that 30 super carry suddenly showed up in my lists just the last week or so.
Not getting into a new cartridge, not getting into a new cartridge...
@rickt10 lol. Sounds like me. Then grabagun had the Shield plus in .30 SC for $249 after a $50 rebate.🤷♂️
6 inches should be lot's for penetration..... wait what?
If you Captain Planet combine the above three calibers you get a new ammo round called 30-08 Win Mag!
Back before WWI, the Italian Army did penetration tests with various rifle calibres ( 6,5 ; 8mm etc) and found that Sand bags up to 300mm thick stopped all rifle bullets ( lead core, AP was only introduced in 1916 by Germans); wood planking required almost half a metre, and steel plate required 7 to 8mm ( 5/16)".
Loopholes in steel plates were subsequently penetrated by 7,9 "K" cartridges ( hardened steel core)...only issued to German Snipers.
Friendly advice. If you load the bipod by leaning your weight into it before you shoot it will help with that bounce that's happening to you on the larger calibers. Not important in this application but if you want to improve your ability to shoot accurately it's a good practice. Might require you to attach a crosspiece on the table top.
I'm still shooting my Garand that I got ages ago from the DCM for $65. It's fussy about what it shoots and there are only a few powders that are appropriate. But it's a lovely and accurate battle rifle from the days when just picking a weapon up required a bit more muscle that most today. Yeah, I was an infantryman and I've shot a few rifles. Good video. I still don't understand why most people don't reload. I ran out of M-2 AP and it was fun to play with.
Ok, old school 06, will have reoccurring nightmares “damn it, must have bench test shot 1” mild steel plate, we’ve been robbed” 😢
My favorites are in the 7mm bullets.. 7-08, 7-06 (280), 7mm Rem Mag.
Thanks for putting in the level of effort you do for accurate testing.
the specs for the US 30 Cal (30'06) is "Penetration, fired at 7/8-inch thick homogeneous armor plate at 100 yards, will be not less than 0.42 inch" as per the TM 43-0001-27
I'd really like to see the two OG Calibres .303 BRIT & 30-06 up against the "newcomer" 762.51 in a classic military calibres Banana Ballistics challenge... 😊
You really do so awesome comparison's.
Keep up the good work
327fed mag vs 357mag it might be less powerful but smaller diameter might make it perform better in these test and out of a 4inch barrel 327 is scooting hard
You seem to like to pat and shake your box.🤣🤣
Wow, only content online I've seen that doesn't hate on the 308, and actually makes the case the only practical difference between that and 30-06 is 308 is cheaper, more available, and has better recoil control. Also clear, don't bother upgrading from 308 unless it's on the level of 300 Win
A .30 Carbine should be interesting.
Caught a projectile. Cool.
Great advice on reloading, midwayUSA is my go to! However once you get the rock chucker or equivalent. RCBS puts out some great youtube vids on how to set up and work those systems.
I have a piece of class A armor 1 inch thick with the core of a M2 AP shot stuck in the plate the jacket shredded on impact 25 feet in the basement with a M1 Garand. that was shot back in the mid-seventies. My dad work at IIT armor research foundation as an apprentice and that is where the plate came from. Keep walking in Elmer Keith's footsteps.
Is there the possibility for a 9mm vs .357 sig vs 10mm video in the future? I'd be extra interested to see if you used xtreme defender from underwood for all of them too
This test reaffirms my choice of the 7.62 for home defense in an AR platform.
Home defense? Hopefully you live alone and not in a neighborhood.
and in the middle of a 50 acre farm. @@xxnatas69xx
Interesting how close they all were. Even more interesting is that you were probably losing some velocity with the semi auto rifle on the .308
Just a thought my buddy got a ultra light 300 win mag and had the barrel threaded and a compensator put on it, hardly kicks more than my 308
Missed opportunity... That wedge got Napoleon Blownapart.
@ 12:00 How?!?...HOW can the bullet be stuck in 1" thick mild steel still maintain perfect shape....what bullet is that? How did that happen? Enjoy your videos Banana Ballistics! Practical education.
This voice is so baritone I could sleep all day listening to him😊😊😊😊😊
My grandfather had all three guns and preferred the 308. I had a 303 from ww1 with nylon tips. They would put the tip just sticking out of the half inch plate and one hell of a welt
I would like for you to specify the cartridge load and brand you are shooting. Also, the type of rifle and barrel length for age cartridge
So what we learned is that the hole was too tight and only the tip got through. Art imitates life.
Hello from Sweden 🇸🇪
super happy to see the garmin over the garbage magneto speeds, though after suggesting you should get a lab radar multiple times, you found the garmins one shortfall, close in velocity. Best of luck, its always a fun video.
So it will definitely go through a Cyber Truck!
Have you done 308 vs 762x54r? If not that would be a great video!
I totally agree !!! 🇺🇸🪖😎
I think, between the 3, it would boil down to cost-per-round (for those of us who are budget-minded shooters), so to me, that eliminates the .300 Win Mag right off the bat. And the difference between the .308 & 30-06 is negligible, so if you have either one, you're good. 😉😄
