- As one of the world’s most popular diving destinations for scuba diver training, it’s no surprise that the underwater landscape around Koh Tao is amazing.
However, not every visitor has the time or wants to scuba dive and what few people realise is that Koh Tao is actually more popular for visitors who enjoy snorkeling.
Koh Tao is surrounded by over 8 kilometers of coral reef and offers a huge diversity of marine life.
Add to that the calm, shallow water around most of the island and snorkeling is a perfect alternative to diving.
Snorkeling provides an ideal way for the majority of visitors to enjoy the beauty of the coral reefs and marine life.
Koh Tao has hidden beauty in a lot of its beaches and bays, providing different landscapes. The underwater rock formations at some of these locations are superb for snorkeling.
We found a very affordable tour offered by Koh Tao Sangthong Tours for 500 Baht for an all day tour. It stopped at 5 different locations; Koh Nang Yuan, Mango Bay, Freedom Beach, Shark Bay and Tao Thong (Sai Nuan Beach). The whole day was amazing and the best snorkeling I’ve experienced in Thailand.

This was a great way to spend a day on Koh Tao. The water and marine life were incredible. If you want to compare it to another popular destination take a look at a video I made from the Similan Islands.

Good 😊
Thanks for watching. Was a great way to spend a day.
Awesome day !
It was a great day. The best thing I’ve done in awhile. Koh Tao isn’t my favorite island but the marine life made it worth going for sure.
Cool nudibranch at 10:57. One of my favorite things to find when on a dive.
Ya that was pretty cool to see.
Nice video Chris...I wonder where the mama sharks were lol
@@Nature_with_Peter_Kane glad you enjoyed it. I say a baby black tip but I think they are adults. I have seen some videos of the bigger sharks from this island but we didn’t get to see them.
@@endlessjourneytravels Well that could be a good thing 😆
@@Nature_with_Peter_Kane I’m not worried about sharks. I’m old and full of gristle. No shark in their right mind would want even a nibble. Lol
Thanks. That was super valuable very valuable video for us. We for sure do that. My Thai partner say yeah yeah now😂. Do one bring any own equipment? When you filmed underwater, a GoPro? Settings on it ?any post editing? Thanks again for super 👍🏻 video
The snorkeling gear is provided by the tour so you don’t need to bring any. If you prefer a different mask or have a better quality you can bring but the ones they have worked well for us. I used my DJI Action 3 camera. It is waterproof up to 10 meters so I just jumped in the water with it. I didn’t change any of the settings. There are underwater filters you can use but I don’t have any. The automatic settings seemed to work well most of the time. When I was editing the video I saw a few color changes but it wasn’t too bad. I don’t do any editing of the videos since I just use my phone for everything. It already makes me go bling staring at the small screen. Lol we had a great time on this trip and it was the highlight of the whole trip for us.
Great clip music please!
Thanks for watching. I have to be careful with the music selection because of copyright claims. I would really like to put in a few other songs but I’m been hit with claims many times in the past. :(
Do I need my own fins and mask?
You do not need your own. Some people bring their own that fits them better or is higher quality but the tour provides a set for you. I never have an issue with them so I never bring my own.
It’s so weird seeing people that I know in this video lol
That’s cool. I hope they enjoyed the trip as much as we did.
@@endlessjourneytravels yeah I personally know the guides at the tour company you went with good guys love talking to them ❤️
@@MatthewArchie311 that’s great. They all were very helpful on our tour. Great bunch of guys!
That was a Titan triggerfish. Very territorial. I watched one chase a diver for about 50 meters to get him away from the nest.
He came right up to the camera. The teeth were kinda gnarly looking. I guess ignorance is bliss because I was stationary target. Lol
@@endlessjourneytravels probably not mating season. They are pretty chill usually.
@@sbeers88 was just reading that mating season is March to April. Lol
@@endlessjourneytravels just made it
@@sbeers88 the trigger fish probably got lucky that it didn’t take a bite out of me. I probably would’ve made him sick.
