  • Sweet clothes-making community,
How are you, really? January doldrums? Fury at the state of the world like me? Yep. It’s more of a challenge to do what Mr. Rogers taught me to do when I was 4: look for the helpers. But I’m doing what he said (and Mr. Rogers’ wisdom never steers you wrong.)
Beyond looking for helpers, I’m also trying to look for beauty of all kinds.
This morning, I wanted to find beauty in my closet. I got dressed for fun for the first time since … well, all of January? I’ve been wearing mostly comfort pieces, most of which are handmade, so even if I don’t put forth any creative effort in the mornings, I still feel like myself.
Today, I’m appreciating this shade of olive green in my #sylvanjacket. (Fabric is ivy gabardine twill from @atelierbrunette.) I’m relishing the circle skirt twirl of my #hinterlanddress hack from our patternmaking course, The Creative Hinterland. And I’m really loving the brilliant little handmade book necklace from @pegandawl, just waiting for some miniature drawings of other beautiful things that catch my eye as I go about my day.

The Sylvan is so lovely. So many amazing options! Your dress is lovely too! Is it from a pattern?
