Pokemon dp is always the best season ever
By far the most complete series IMO. One of the best versions of Ash. His team was incredible(led by Infernape and that storyline). Brock was at his peak and Dawn is perhaps his best developed companion. Paul is the best rival and his battle with Ash in the sinnoh league is the best in the anime. Team galactic and hunter J were great. They showed Cynthia and all four members of the elite four.The character returns of Gary, Brandon were incredible. May’s Wallace Cup return is the best of any companion (please Journeys do a contest ep with May, Dawn, and Serena). Great video as always!

Currently rewatching the diamond and pearl anime. It was my first pokemon series that i watched as a kid and its so nostalgic rewatching it again. Its my favourite series probably for nostalgic reasons, but i think there is a level of objectivity to that opinion referring to your points above. It used the classic formula which i miss. But obviously pokemon has to adapt to new times.

This gen of the anime was amazing, we had Dawn an MC that actually felt like she was just as important as Ash and easily Ash’s best rival Paul. I think the writing for Ash was at its best here too, he had a good balance of serious and goofy.
The ending of Diamond And Pearl always makes me cry
Im currently rewatching the diamond and pearl anime. I need to be prepared 😭😭😭. I wish ash was with brock and dawn in sinnoh forever. Obviously not gonna happen but thats how much i love the diamond and pearl series.
My personal favorite series, just beating out XY. Ash vs Paul, Dawn's storyarc, Infernape, and a lot of other stories in between. As for the "filler" complaints, I find that if you enjoy a show anyway, the filler is just part of the package and you can enjoy it all the same. I found that in other series like original Sailor Moon and Inuyasha.
Facts, I do not have a problem with the sinnoh filler. They had really touching moments and built to the character development. It was often a good time to laugh with the humour present in some of the filler as well. I like humour in a series because i watch a series to also relax too.
After 15 years, the "Diamond and Pearl" series is still my 2nd favorite Pokemon anime series.

Diamond and Pearl was my introduction to not only the anime but Pokemon in general. It'll always be my favourite season and hold a special place in my heart. Does it have it's problems? Most definitely. Glaring ones being Ash's rushed League loss, Ambipom's stupid release and the atrocious *1 YEAR GAP* between gyms 7 and 8 among others. But still, to me, this felt like the peak of the anime's "first era" which is why it was a great way to end it off on. I've actually been planning a full rewatch (yes even the filler) since it's been a while and I just wanna relive the good old days with Ash, Brock and Dawn. So yeah, Happy 15th DPA.
It still confuses me why didn't they just have ash lose to the elite four
I didn't mind the 1 year gap at all because we had some amazing episodes in between. That gap has the best of the anime.

Cant really explain why its probably nostalgia but that era of sinnoh in the pokemon series has this comforting nostalgic vibe that is unique to it. It was still classic pokemon at the time. Man Im really understanding this whole nostalgia thing now, i really miss the classic era of pokemon, which imo gens 1 - 4.
It’s crazy to think DP aired and concluded so long ago. Feels like just yesterday I was watching Dawn set off on her journey to be top coordinator. DP will always hold a special place in my heart and always be my favorite Pokémon series. From the improvements on contests, ash and Paul’s dynamic and heated rivalry, the characters and just overall story, DP is top tier Pokémon.
I completely agree. While nostalgia plays a factor, there is definitely a level of objectivity to it. The DP anime has a perfect mix of humour, seriousness and touching moments. Dont forget how great the DP movies were. The sinnoh era in general just perfected the classic formula of pokemon that made it successful in the first place. Sinnoh makes me feel at home by giving me this comforting nostalgic vibe. Im currently rewatching the diamond and pearl anime for the first time to take me back to those great times. Its unmatched.
Its like I wish we always stayed in sinnoh and that sinnoh was the new generation right now. But im happy we are getting the remakes and the sinnoh character returns in journeys that is making this era come back to life once more.

Man I really loved DP!
For me it's the series that felt the most complete:
The characters were just so great:
Peak Ash. Peak Brock and peak female companion/double protagonist Dawn. All had such great developments and personalities.
Paul and Ash's rivalry was amazing, the battles were strategic and even some competitive techniques were used. Ash and Dawn influence on each other and their friendship was such a joy to watch, bc they felt like equals having the same worth in the story with both of them having a rival to face of at the end.
Other great ones were:
Zoey - who had a really interesting dynamic with Dawn
Cynthia - giving her fun quirks and a reappearing role in the series was great and made her even more enjoyable (not even mentioning her casually destroying Paul, the Elite 4 members and Team Galactic)
The Rocket - who had actual character development and did have emotional and really funny episode. Also Jessie/James being really good in contest.
And the other rivals like: Barry, Nando, Kenny, Ursula, and Conway (who was the funniest and apperantly makes people rewatch DP - i can't blame them he is just to good)
The Pokémon teams were also great with Dawn having my personal favorite companion team bc they all have such great personalities (especially Piplup).
And I think I don't have to mention Ash's team (Infernape we miss you) which was one of his best imo. Even Brock had unique and funny Pokémon (Croagunk was just the best).
And lastly the story arcs
The Team Galactic arc damn... so awesome! Like it legit had good storytelling and was forshadowed in the very first episode of the series, with Dawn seeing Mesprit and later Ash seeing Azelf and Brock Uxie (like it was great they all had equal relevance in this arc which was awesome).
And the League and Grand Festival arc: By far the best of their kind for me personally. The only bummers of the 2 were Ash and Dawn loosing at the end. But damn what bangers - Ash bringing back older Pokemon, him beating Paul and also taking out 2 legendaries.
And the Great festival which also made you feel like: "There is no way she could actually lose that?". With great animation aswell.
The summercamp, hearthome tag battle, wallace cup and lake acuity arcs were incredible aswell.
(And as a bonus: The movies were amazing aswell. They did a full on Trilogy also kinda tying into the Team Galactic arc and just being overall fun to watch do to the relevance Dialga, Palkia, Giratina and Arceus have in franchise.)
Like you mentioned it just feels like the end of an era and they perfected that old era in the anime imo.

Hey I always got time for some long DP appreciation. You layed out everything perfectly as to why DP is so great. You just got me in the mood to talk about it more. So I will, going into depth on Ash's team cause man they just nailed the Pokemon here. This....might take a while.
*Ash:* Honestly his best team. There is literally not a single other Sinnoh Pokemon except Lucario and maybe Weavile I could see with him.
Pikachu: Awesome as always. Nice to see it be the final stand against Tobias and that Volt Tackle/Iron Tail vs Luster Purge will always be Legendary.
Aipom: Honestly, probably one the smartest things the anime has ever done. Ash catches a Pokemon that has an evolution next gen late into one series, then they bring it to the next for it to do more. They even have it involved in probably one of the only positive uses of trade in the anime.
Staraptor: My second favourite bird. It was so useful and I'll never forget when it evolved and absolutely clapped Paul's Honchcrow with Close Combat.
Torterra: It tried it's best and that's what matters. It wasn't fully even it's fault it went downhill, he got matched against strong Pokemon with advantages and strong Pokemon in general. Still...kinda wished it stayed a Turtwig though.
Buizel: Always an awesome Pokemon. So cool with that battling attitude.
Gliscor: Such great development from a wimpy Gligar. What made it better is that he had to prove he was ready instead of just being handed to him. That was pretty cool. Not to mention his goofy and fun personality.
Gible: A late addition, but a fun one. It was just such a fun gag Pokemon with stuff like bite on random things and Draco Meteor basically being a heat seeking missile for Piplup. Plus it wasn't too shabby when it actually came time for a battle.
Infernape: Literal perfect story telling. Everything about this Pokemon is just magic. The establishment of Paul, the pain it had to go through. Literally *EVERYTHING* in the Hearthome Tag Battle arc from Paul going AFK because he lost faith in Chimchar to Ash getting it stting up so much. The literal *tears* it shed from being overwhelmed by the actual positive encouragement. The smack down of Paul's Ursaring showing Blaze's true potential. The battle at Lake Acuity where it evolved as a good omen of things to come. The mastering of Blaze as Infernape. The thrashing of half of Paul's team while resisting poison ending of with the most poetic beatdown I have ever seen. I love this Pokemon, I could go on and on about how much I love it but I think I said what I needed to.
I could talk about Dawn, Brock and even the Rockets Pokemon, but Ash alone took like an hour. So maybe another time. Man do I love gushing about DP.

Im so glad im not the only one who has strong feelings for the sinnoh anime. Im just so grateful that i started the pokemon series on sinnoh. Best region/gen ever PERIOD

I started the pokemon series in sinnoh both in the anime and the games. They really made my childhood great and thats why i still love pokemon to this day.
For me, the sinnoh anime and games have this comforting nostalgic vibe about it that makes me feel at home and feel like life is good and have no need to worry (lol get it) brining me back to childhood. I dont feel this with any other generation.
It still uses the classic pokemon formula, still has brock, continues from the past anime series, dawn is ash’s best companion, good mix of humour, seriousness and touching moments and i could go on and on.
To me, the sinnoh era of pokemon was when pokemon was at its peak, perfecting the classic formula that made it as big as it was in the first place. I just cant have sinnoh not be my favourite.
Im currently rewatching the sinnoh anime to relive this golden era of pokemon (up to galactic battles). The last time i watched the sinnoh series was my first time as a kid. So basically im watching the diamond and pearl series for the second time. It makes me feel in certain ways that only the diamond and pearl anime can make me feel. Its unmatched for me. Im gonna miss the series when i finish it, but ill go straight to the sinnoh character returns in journeys (love that they did this :D).

Sinnoh is soooo nostalgic for me aswell both the games and anime and I could watch and play it endlessly. Like you said it just feels like a 2nd home, it's exactly the way I feel. I love that both the games DPPt and DP anime is like the definitive version of the old formular it works so well. The games are hard but are so cozy to playthrough and have amazing music (maybe thats nostalgia).
And the anime... oh man I love what they did with the characters they are all so charming. Dawn is easily my favorite Ash companion and is just so well written. I love that she was the 2nd protagonist for DP and they gave her all the attention. It also adds so much to her dynamic with Ash and Brock. Who were also amazing in this series.
Man I could go on and on this generation is truly something special ❤

Now that you mentioned the music, dawn’s contest music (czcams.com/video/3HjyYDvLWYk/video.html) is amazing and is easily my favourite theme in the anime and possibly of all pokemon music. Also the anime route 210 theme (czcams.com/video/7XsiByIZAMQ/video.html) is heavenly. Makes me emotional and cry often listening to these themes and will always lift my mood when im down. The music is objectively seen as good by alot of fans. Sinnoh is just beautiful.
Diamond and Pearl is one of my favorite anime series. That Infernape VS Electivire fight is one of those anime fights that I actually enjoyed and rooted for infernape to win. This is also one of those fights that made me scream beat him It's much more enjoyable than any other anime series nowadays.
Sinnoh was my first generation in the games and the anime, so it always feels like home to me. Alot of fans who started in previous gens also say gen 4 is up there. Sinnoh just has this comforting nostalgic vibe about it that I cant feel in any other generation, only to an extent in gens 1 & 2 and to a lesser extent in gen 3.
But i understand that the pokemon company cant use the same formula or else it’ll get stale. The new gens are basically the classic formula tweaked to suit the present times and I still love the new gens.
However, I will always have generation 4 as the best generation because of nostalgia and in general the classic era (imo gens 1-4) as my favourites.
Thats why im so happy we are reliving the sinnoh era once more in the remakes and the character returns in the anime (dawn, volkner, cynthia etc.).
Also currently rewatching the diamond and pearl anime (up to the second half of galactic battles) to relive the era. So grateful. 😊 😃
I love how Pokemon is trying so hard to push this "double protagonist" thing in Journeys, but forget that they've already done it before (and in some ways better) in DP.

DP did the co-protagonist thing better in EVERY ways, without ever making either Ash or Dawn look retarded next to the other. And Dawn wasn't handed success on a silver plate like Goh.

Diamond and Pearl was made when I was born. Even though by the time I was watching pokemon black and white came out. I watched diamond and pearl first(in fact I have never seen most of black and white to this day. I mostly skipped that gen). There is so much good nostalgia from the series and I don’t think I will ever dislike it

I had watched Pokémon before this, but DP was the first series I watched from start to finish (only missing a few episodes from here and there) as it first aired, so I got to enjoy it in the best possible way. Ever since, I've watched every Pokémon series from start to finish.

I loved DP, and a big part of that IS the filler. Wait, hear me out. I really enjoy some filler! Course I skipped some episodes, too, but some filler is often a good break, fun, and always makes me laugh.

@@Itsblubun sinnoh perfected the original formula that made pokemon as big as it is in the first place. After sinnoh the formula changed. Basically they still use the classic formula and tweak it to suit the present times. Nothing wrong with that, the new gens are completely fine. But i still miss gen 4 as it was my first gen, which is why im happy we are getting the remakes.
