  • Yardstix takes advantage of underutilised space to bring functional architecture to backyards. Drawing character from the Queensland radiata pine, and framing the necessities within the walls themselves, Nicholas Gurney's 20m2 secondary dwellings provide green, economic, self-contained living spaces. That stay warm; and cool as needed, with every piece designed for function.

To improve also the quality of the perception and not just "be" there. The interior design doesnt play woth no perception or athmosphere. It just a really good practical box house. nothing more. A granny flat can provide that, where the person has their own space but can still come into the main house for socialising, main meals, etc. In Bali families often live this way, with extended family all on one property but each generation or family unit having their own little building.

      What you're hearing is a typical Aussie accent lilt where end of sentence words rise in tone as if asking a question. Not all Aussies speak like this and I can say as an Aussie myself that I've noticed that people with either an inferiority complex or lack of confidence or conviction, tend to hide behind that style of speech. Whilst it is common, this speaker in the video seems to have a particularly emphasised case of it.

I saw one, I think it was an Italian design here on you tube were you could even leave your stuff on the shelves when lowering the bed down! That could be a solution. But like you I would need a comfy chair or maybe even a small couch! I think this little house has a lot of potential and maybe you could design your own interior to make it more efficient for you.

But the one you suggested might even be better. You could easily attach a fold down desk on it. The Turning system gives no worries at all and although it doesn't take much effort to lower a Murphy, this system could be used by everyone, even if you are, let's say in a wheelchair. Thanks again!

      @@maggieleroy3184 You're welcome. If you click on the uploader of the link I shared, they have other videos of murphy beds with desks as well. These murphy beds are not cheap, but it's an investment item if you live in a small space and treasure space. Also better to get someone who specialises in murphy beds to ensure your own safety as well. No joke if it falls on you if you get a bad contractor. Just bear in mind that the thickness of the mattress can't be too thick as well as you will need to fold the bed in. If you value a good night's sleep over space, may be better to get a regular bed. As in tell, I just got a murphy bed for my place. Hope you find what you want! :p

    This apartment is the smallest that I have seen in my life, the lighting is used to the maximum by its facades the wood materials being such a small space could give more heat to the user, it has a good relationship with the environment and has the spaces necessary to be quite comfortable, the relationships between each space are not ideal for a large house, but in this case it seems to me that it is quite optimized, the double height gives it a friendly feeling, each corner has a use, be it as storage as a user use, quite a smart decision on the part of the architect.

      @@lsamoa you'd be surprised. I've seen some pretty garbage house designs from other channels, all trying to build quick income. There was one that had a dart board on the outside of the house(that's right, you throw darts at your home....)(it was called Mancave tiny house is for the guys), and another with an electrical panel inside of a bathroom, all to save space.
      That said, I will take it into consideration.

    From their website it's stated that they charge a starting price of $2900 sqm.
    And they build 3 sizes at 20, 40, and 60.
    So base-
    20sqm=$58,000
    40sqm=$116,000
    60sqm=$174,000
    Excluding extra modifications.
