Henry did order a LOT of executions, but all the manners had been standard for centuries before him and at least a century after. I think this is coming across as “Henry VIII had the most brutal executions of all British monarchs” when it should be “Henry VIII ordered a lot of executions that were common for the time, but his reign was especially public and well-documented, which is why we know more about these executions than other monarchs.”

Jeremy Northam PERFECTLY played St. Thomas More in "The Tudors. " Everytime I hear about this very brave martyr, I think of that show. Same for Catherine of Aragon, played by Maria Doyle Kennedy and the actor who played St. John Fisher. Such inspiring, brave people during such a horrific time. The two saints are definitely needed now to pray for the Catholic Church and the strength for the Bishops and Cardinals to do what's RIGHT, NOT popular!!

Cromwell got what he deserved... He really back stabbed Anne. Just made up so many flat out lies against a woman who was his friend and then he scurried off to gain the favor of the next queen... She is just lucky she passed away giving birth to a boy...

Nothing all that 'horrific' other than the boiling. I mean, he commuted nearly all to beheadings. You should look in to how King Aella of Northumbria was executed if you want horrific, it makes all this rather tame.

    • @Theturtleowl

And no mention of the execution of Margaret Pole, the countess of Salisbury. To order the execution of a family member that used to care for your eldest daughter is cruel, but Margaret was 67 and the reason for her execution was vague (I have read that it was a way to get to her son Reginald Pole). The execution itself was horrific, to quote Chapuys "[...]who hacked her head and shoulders to pieces in the most pitiful manner".

Cromwell was indeed catholic and the plot against anne bolyne was revenge for what she had done to his master and friend Cardinal woolsey.
What cromwell did to disolve the monastaries was unavoidable but he was against disolving the larger ones or the corruption and greed the dissolution seemed to inspire in Anne and the king.
Cromwell was a coward but not a heretic. Not in his heart. If his deeds spoke against that think of the position he was in.
Not everyone has the courage and decency of Thomas Moore.

Really wanted to enjoy this video but it became unwatchable due to his accent, sorry
