Thank you for this video!! I’m purchasing the same fish finder but with the gt56 transducer. I might do something slightly different but this was definitely informational!!
@@lord_teets from my research online they all vary depending on the battery my marcum 10ah has lasted me 8 hr trip and Im sure can go 11 or 12 hr from what I saw. If you want to do a couple trips without a charge Id go with 20ah.
Badass. Thank you for making this video. Hey you should use a rod sock instead of the grey tubing to hide your wires…how long does the unit last with the battery?
Thats not a bad Idea might do that thanks. I havent really ran it till it died but I have put 8 hrs on it and it was fine but think it should last for a little over 11 hrs according to garmins chart online.
Man that was cool thank you for showing how you installed your Garmin onto the kayak. That is a very nice unit you have. I'm always scared to drill into my Kayak for some reason. "LOL" but I do know there are ways you can put a fishfinder on without drilling into the kayak. Question how long did the whole process take you to do? You did a good job buddy. Thank you for sharing this video.
I've got the exact same kayak and fish finder. Looking at different install options for the Garmin and really like what you did here. I've heard that installing the transducer too deep in the scupper hole causes problems with the Side View function of the unit. Called Garmin and they said that this is likely a problem for the side view. Have you noticed this? I'd prefer the transducer be safe from debris/drops while being recessed in the hole vs it being below the level of the kayak and be exposed.
I have mine mounted directly in the hole and I have zero issues with side view? Its flush with the mount hole but the way the bottom is curved it shouldnt rub anything
I probably wont go out in the ocean maybe intercoastal. I def think it would be fine out on the ocean though. Its very stable and handles waves very well
@@sammichsearcher2230 they are thru hull kit from wilderness. Still have zero water in my hull after months. The bracket and all the stuff I needed to mount came in the Garmin box with transducer. I bought zero after market items

bro im waiting for you to try that kayak in the sea ... im planning to have that one

Any issues with the side view with the transducer being in that spot?
not at all had zero issues with it
Can you use side imaging with transducer mounted in scupper hole?
yes you can works great have had no issues using side imaging.
Does the scupper hole mount interfere with the side scan?
no it doesn't
Nice ride bro!! Can you get that baby into the deep ocean?
Its super stable I dont see why you couldnt. It handles waves really well. I wouldnt go out in 5 ft swells but on a flat day. No problem
The bracket that you are using for the transducer mount? Where did you get that or what is it called?
Also are these the through hill wiring mounts from wilderness?

Looks clean. I’m making this adventure this winter. I’m purchasing second hand and I know nothing about them. Thank you for the video.
I love my recon it was worth it for sure.
I noticed your wiring from the transducer just comes through that open plug hole. Do you get water coming through that, into the back of your kayak?
I would like to see how you made that battery box. Can you post a video or the link to the power adapter. Thanks
