Thank you Tim for this unique "tour" through the town. Love this format! 🙂
Cool pic of Eisenhower at the end! Thanks, Tim + ACHS!
Thank you Tim you’re so good and-so matter of fact on all your all your presentations of Monuments Monday. Sad about a Chaplain being killed by a combatant. Thank you for your video and service to the battle field and the Adams County historical society. Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend!
💯👊👍💕
Thanks again Tim! I look forward to Mondays !
Thanks again Tim... Guess it was "Monuments Tuesday" in this case... 😀
You caught us! 😉
Another great video Tim keep em coming 😎👍
More great info, Tim! I think that I may have mistaken some of the 95th NY secondary markers in the past as flank markers. I need to pay closer attention to what is inscribed on the markers in the future. Great stuff!!
I am trying to get ahold of Tom Smith I have a question about Abbottstown about a marker that is placed there.
As per another source, the chaplain was a well-known abolitionist. Could he have said something to the rebels that caused them to shoot?
Tim, you mentioned that 20,000 US troops retreated through the town on July 1st. If the 1st and 11th Corps took nearly 50 percent casualties each, wouldn't the number that was able to retreat through the town be much less?
Well, it was a generalization. Remember casualties are Killed, wounded, Captured or missing. So the captured would be mostly at the edge of or in the town, and many of the wounded would have been in the retreat also. My point is that people are always downplaying the retreat, and the numbers involved, but there was quite a conflict at the edge of the town and through it.
