You never hit the side streets. A few years ago there was a lot of old factories and abandoned homes, now it’s big fields with lots of deer. Nature reclaims everything.
Youngstown North side born and raised. I think even back in our heyday, we only had around 100,000ish...post WW2. Had buses, but no other mass transit. Had street cars earlier...but they were eliminated. We were considered the counterpart to Germany's "Ruhr Valley" along with Cleveland and Pittsburgh. We were on the hit list because of the steel mills during the war. And west of us by about 30 miles...is Ravenna...home of the Ravena Arsenal. It was built there because on average we are cloudy over 200 days/year...and if the Germans ever got over here...they wouldn't be able to see it 🤣😂 I-80...is a main artery through our area. There's tons of access for manufacturing alongside it. That " muffler car".....was @ the Famous Earl Scheib" any car painted $99 bucks" paint shop!🤣😂. Legendary on the northside🤣😂 We have our history...read about the " Youngstown tune-up"...the Jungle Inn, the " Bug" and the Naples, Carrabia, Strollo families ( la Familia) ...... Youngstown College coach Dwight Beede...birthed the penalty flag in football Navy( with Roger Staubach as quarterback) played Youngstown ( with future Eagle Ron Jaworski as quarterback).. here! In town ! Lots of history Yes...it's seen better days. I think it's down...but not " out"... How I judge a town? I look for construction cranes, bulldozers, ......big building projects. Tells me a lot about the economy there. Look at gasoline...another sign😉😉
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS they are😊. Again..I-80 from NYC to San Fran, I think...runs right through us. Before leaving Congress our Rep. Jim Traficant(RIP) scored us some of that " pork barrel $$"..& they built the Covelli Center and another Federal Courthouse. He was a colorful guy😉😉 A lot of great music from this area as well: The James Gang, Frankie Valli, etc.
Welp your in my hometown sad isn't it lol. We wanted too move to Fl but it's too expensive down there lol. Where in Fl would you compare Youngstown too??
East side all day over here. Great video. Back in the 80’s/90’s aside from the crime, it was a fun place to live. We had pools on every side of town, Southern Park and Eastwood mall (back when they were packed ever weekend), great parks, great athletes and sports, amazing food (some of the best pizza you’ll ever find anywhere - wedgewood, Belleria, etc), and some hard working people that are welcoming and warm hearted as long as you don’t cross the line….. white, black, Hispanic it doesn’t matter you will get checked if you cross the line. Go Youngstown!!
Watching this video actually brought back memories of growing up in Youngstown. My only complaint, is this person may not be from the Yo. there’s no way you can drive down Belmont and pass up everything that you passed up and not make comment about it uptown driving past liberty place that used to be Hills now is Walmart the first Arby’s ever in Youngstown you past several cemeteries I have a relative buried in the cemetery what about the northside drive inn the northside pool right next to the Dairy Queen you literally drove past my mothers house.
He literally says he lived in NYC and goes be a moniker of “southern” and has an odd voice so yea, he’s definitely never been to Youngstown. People are definitely out and about, at night.
It’s a great place to live and raise a family. Has it gone threw hard times , yes. But it’s much better than in the ‘90s. You want exciting times go to Vegas.
Hi. I live in Ohio. We are NOT the Midwest. The time line is the separation. Ohio is in the Northeast. Just sayin 💜 Sadly, there are other towns/cities in Ohio suffering the same fate as Youngstown. 😔💔
Ohio is a midwest state. If that’s the case that means Indiana & Michigan are a northeast state because we all share the same time zones, same with southern states like Georgia & Florida we all got the same time. Parts of Ohio May be considered the east coast / northern areas such as Youngstown or Cleveland but in Southern / Southwest Ohio it’s considered the MidWest more than anything
@@LilChiefMoe7 Hi! Happy Holidays❄🎄I live in Cleveland. No jokes please, lol. So if you ask the U.S. Govt... Ohio is apart of the Midwest, being the last state farthest east in that group. Pennsylvania is the start of the Northeast. But if you ask a science person, they will say the timeline is the separation points.. So who's right? When i watch our local weather here, they say Northeast.. I live here, and we say Northeast. 💜
@@dawnb.6948 I live in Ohio too, I live in Dayton which is in South Western Ohio NOWHERE near the North Eastern part. NE Ohio may identify as a North Coastal / Eastern state, but people from Cities like Columbus, Springfield & Dayton identity as the Midwest. Dayton where I’m from is 30-40 minutes away from Indiana State Line which is apart the Midwest, it’s nowhere near the North Eastern part of Ohio which is considered the east coast. We all in Ohio but on different sides
@@LilChiefMoe7 Hi! I know, I've been all over Ohio, and depending on where your at, will depend on how they feel about it. Science folks say the time lines are the separation points. While regular folks say Pennsylvania is the start of the Northeast. So idk... 💜 But yes, we are Ohioans!! The Heart of it All!! I've been all over the U.S., and we live in one of the most prettiest states!! I love Ohio!! I hope you have a good day, and a good upcoming holiday!
Youngstown used to be a steel town at one time too like Cleveland and Pittsburgh. There are little to no steel mills left in the Mahoning Valley just outside of Youngstown.
Youngstown isn't any worse than any other town, we have those areas what they call better on the outskirts of town. Like Boardman, Austintown, Canfield and Poland but these areas have teachers, coaches who have done things to minors and sex trafficking going on there. Just check the news so because Youngstown don't look the way you think it should, check out all the areas where you live.
Youngstown has a 35% poverty rate and has one of the highest crime rates in the country but you keep telling urself it’s not bad and it’s just like everywhere else but almost all of Mahoning County is also garbage so ur right about that part
Youngstown is in the US Midlands cultural region more specifically, the region being settled largely from the British Midlands and from Germany from the colonial era up through the mid to late 1800's. The Midwest as defined by the census bureau isn't really a singular cultural region.
Hello From Cleveland, Ohio. I recently moved there From The Knoxville, TN Area. And I really love that song you were singing. 'In The End' By Linkin Park .
Ohio is not that bad~ I graduated high school in South Point, Ohio... & I loved and appreciated my high school days~my family member is studying at Youngstown State & playing Football.. it’s nice there, thanks for sharing this live video... EASY living.. the less people the better for me,,, 😆 lol!
Interesting riding around with you and touring Youngstown from my device. I lived in KY Ohio and Chicago before. Chicago had too many Psychopaths. Midwest is hardscrabble and weird. But, less people is nicer if you can make a living. Drugs are Really scary world. Important to only think about your kids schools. I love videos with people chatting exploring. I guess that's called vlogging I love paranormal vlogs while they explore and discuss history. By the way, where is Youngstown at in Ohio?
If yall going through northwest ohio swing through napoleon and wauseon. You'll like those two towns. They're not far from morenci michigan, Katie might know where that is
15:45 on the rightside of the street look at the Chase Bank is the Building that exploded recently!!! Just shows how the Building looked. Nice video of just driving the neighborhood. Originally I'm from Toledo Ohio.
You drove past and all around the area you were looking for. La La Land is what everyone called it. The streets are all on a hill. Garland. Fruit. Loveless. Truesdale, etc. Between Wilson and Himrod. Up until the late 80s there was even a store at Garland and Shehy where they spoke Spanish. Also an MC club called Sons of Boriqua at Wilson and Shehy. It was predominantly Puerto Rican. A lot from NYC. You drove past my Grandparents old house on Euclid at 22:03. My Dad was raised there. I grew up on the Northside in the 70s. It was really nice then. I left 20 years ago
Almost had a wedding reception at the Boriqua club. La la land was…well oof. Literally. The ruling of that place was if you were white and female driving alone at night there, you could legally go through stop signs and red lights. Lot of bad stuff happened there. No one ever visited the east side, you only drove through to get somewhere else or you just never stopped. The police literally blocked that whole side of town once due to gang wars.
The Kimmel Brooks, Youngstown Ohio, Undisputed, Back in the day sixties Seventies, u better have your thinking cap on when u roll through the Brooks, Ricans know.
You were on the North & East side of Ytown. The West side has alot of the violence & where you'll see more ppl out. The downtown area is hoppin' w/ alot ppl during work hours & that includes YSU campus. As far as you saying that the East side you were on being the Puerto Rican area your kinda right about that, back when I was using drugs my dealer lived there, he was Puerto Rican & Black mixed. As a matter of fact you drove right by his house! I hadn't been over on that side of town in almost 4yrs now. Also, when you started off the interstate area you were only about 2 miles away from my house. Loved seeing the area, thanx for doing it & posting it.
For many years the West Side was actually the safest part of Youngstown, and the one part of town that seemed to be an oasis from all the violent crime throughout the rest of the city. I have noticed the last few years or so that crime has been getting progressively worse over there, and even starting to spread out into Austintown. Even still, the south and east sides are still by far the most dangerous areas of the city. I certainly wouldn't leave my doors or my car unlocked on the West Side, but I don't fear for my safety when I'm over there.
West side has “a lot” of violence? Maybe fight wise, but murders are definitely ALL East and south side. Those are the worst two. North side is weird. It’s fancy but yet a block over is shady as hell. It’s hard to figure out. Everyone also seems to forge get that the cops literally closed off most of the east side due to gang wars for weeks one time. No one ever visited the east side, you just drove through sometimes to go to a better area. Also lol at the “La La Land Rules” if you were an alone, white female driver at night. At least cops abided to that one. Saved countless lives.
I live in Youngstown and I can actually say it’s horrible it’s always killings it’s really sad The southside of Youngstown is the worst side I’m not trying to scare nobody but Youngstown is not a place you want to raise your kids if you do move here move to Austintown Boardman and liberty
@@AvecPoesiecrime in Boardman is rare and if it does happen, it’s not felony sht and mostly white collar stuff. South side and east side are the worst but the streets these days are like the video, pretty empty. Boardman was always the place to go to hang with people and stuff to do.l since down town was usually a ghost town. It bounced back in 2015ish but greedy landlords and pandemic killed it off again.
According to the former drug addict who commented on this video, the west side is the dangerous one. Lol! West side has petty crimes and fights but not too many felony type stuff. East and south sides are definitely the worst but are ghost towns these days. Remember when downtown was super nice a few years before and up to the pandemic?? Wow, that killed them off and went back to its former hollowed out shell of a self. Eh, they tried at least. Downtown Youngstown can’t have nice things. Now we’re stuck with YBI. I still don’t know what they really do and why they need 8 buildings and a “campus”?! The website looks like it’s a big scam.
@@hardtymz2517yeah YBI almost seems like a front or shell businesses at this point. Years and years ago I did a stand-in day to learn about what they do and see a day of work, nice people but strange operation overall. What have they accomplished in the last 5 years? What exactly do they do these days? I am curious
Used to be a steel mill town, then they built super-mills out in indiana closer to Iron and limestone deposits. When the mills went down, they had a lot of houses but no jobs.It also didn't help to outsource steel from china. Bruce Springston did a folk song called youngstown
I lived out there in the early 80's. Always a little dangerous. Schools seemed mostly segregated. Black, Puerto Ricans, some Italians, a few whites. Puerto Rican ladies used to scrap back then. My block was mostly torn down. Lived next to Sam's corner-store. Streets were always kinda empty of traffic. We used to haul giant tires out of the tire dump and roll them down down the road. Poor people used to have excellent flower gardens. It ain't that the people just didn't care, but probably little invested in the poorer areas. Saw some of the poorest white folks I have ever seen. Wild place to be a kid. Scary and fun.
Yes this depressing But I am hopeful for this great city. I pray that it can be saved. God please save this beautiful city and all residents. My heart is still there.Amen
The first part or beginning was actually liberty township I visit that speedway everyday ! Belmont ave. Youngstown is about 1 -2 miles down the road Shooting almost every day in Youngstown!
You drove through most of the nicer parts of Youngstown.. most of it was Liberty a suburb of Ytown.. But Youngstown is not as bad as it was in the past..1990s and early 2000s...but still be careful at night....streets are empty for a reason...
History lesson here yes Ohio is the Midwest and of course it looks like it’s deserted your downtown at 7 o’clock at night go about 12 o’clock in the afternoon and the place is packed so many people work downtown. This video is so ridiculous.
Ohio is the Midwest. That parking deck was tore down and a few other sightly buildings were tore down. Vome back when they are down fixing up Downtown.

Idk, the more I think about it, it is possible they had mentioned a roommate & I just don't remember hearing that. I think if they can never prove what her cause of death is then they won't declare her death a murder, or a homicide so if that's true, no one will be charged w/her death. And to me, that's totally unacceptable. And it makes ya nervous knowing that there's a murderer out here walking free & moving among us totally unaware. That's so not cool. 5/1/22: Wow, it does “look dead”. I left in 1988 and moved to Hawaii. Thnx for the tour.
We have only 1 hospital system now. In years gone by We had 3 Hospital systems.
Northside, Southside,Saint Elizabeth, and Cafaro Hospital.
😥
Wow that's bad! A lot of city's have lost the majority of their hospitals in recent years. 😥😳
Many people lost their jobs. I worked there, my mother worked there and my sister was working there. Northside. Cafaro was an Osteopathic hospital. Closed Many years before. St. Elizabeth is now Mercy Health. Hospitals just couldn't survive when the mills closed. Population dropped significantly.
I worked at St Elizabeth Hospital.
Is that Hospital system of good quality care?
“I listen to you, what the crap was Tim Hortons?” 😂😂😂😂
You never hit the side streets. A few years ago there was a lot of old factories and abandoned homes, now it’s big fields with lots of deer. Nature reclaims everything.
oh deer! no way
Nice ride of my old home town.
Welcome to the YO! Yeap my home town. But I am ready to move to a different city.
East Side. A good portion of my family lived on the East Side when I was a kid.
It was built there because on average we are cloudy over 200 days/year...and if the Germans ever got over here...they wouldn't be able to see it 🤣😂
I-80...is a main artery through our area. There's tons of access for manufacturing alongside it.
That " muffler car".....was @ the Famous Earl Scheib" any car painted $99 bucks" paint shop!🤣😂. Legendary on the northside🤣😂
We have our history...read about the " Youngstown tune-up"...the Jungle Inn, the " Bug" and the Naples, Carrabia, Strollo families ( la Familia) ......
Youngstown College coach Dwight Beede...birthed the penalty flag in football
Navy( with Roger Staubach as quarterback) played Youngstown ( with future Eagle Ron Jaworski as quarterback).. here! In town !
Lots of history
Yes...it's seen better days. I think it's down...but not " out"...
How I judge a town? I look for construction cranes, bulldozers, ......big building projects. Tells me a lot about the economy there.
Look at gasoline...another sign😉😉
New hotels are a good sign
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS they are😊. Again..I-80 from NYC to San Fran, I think...runs right through us. Before leaving Congress our Rep. Jim Traficant(RIP) scored us some of that " pork barrel $$"..& they built the Covelli Center and another Federal Courthouse. He was a colorful guy😉😉
A lot of great music from this area as well: The James Gang, Frankie Valli, etc.
go to the south side it's run down lol most of the lights do start blinking at sundown
Welp your in my hometown sad isn't it lol. We wanted too move to Fl but it's too expensive down there lol. Where in Fl would you compare Youngstown too??
I live on the east side of the Yo. Youngstown is a fighting kind of town. Things will turn around God Bless the USA and Youngstown.
Hey I'm actually in Youngstown filming an independent boxing film.
I was raised in youngstown its not the same anymore but in the 80s and 90s was some great memories
Used to go to Idora park couple times in the summer. Never felt unsafe but we defintly left the park before dark
You don’t want to go anywhere near that area now. I’m not even talking about crime, the streets aren’t even drivable around there. Craters!
The First Arby's was in Boardman. Yeah he said nothing about Briar Hill. People are at work if you are traveling in the middle of the week.
Metro Youngstown was larger than Miami back in 1950 but then again Broward County had only 83,000 people then compared to over 2,000,000 now.
I was waiting for him to go to YOUNGSTOWN BECAUSE HE NEVER REALLY DID.
Video dude just got SERVED! Ka-pow!
It’s a great place to live and raise a family. Has it gone threw hard times , yes. But it’s much better than in the ‘90s. You want exciting times go to Vegas.
the 90s? its 2020.. we have i phones now.
Hi. I live in Ohio. We are NOT the Midwest. The time line is the separation. Ohio is in the Northeast.
Just sayin 💜 Sadly, there are other towns/cities in Ohio suffering the same fate as Youngstown. 😔💔
So wrong really to see a empty city like that
Ohio is a midwest state.
Idk how y’all do it up in NE Ohio but in SW Ohio it’s the Midwest nothing else !! And we all share the same time zone !! We have NYC time zone.
He keep saying look how vacant it is, while driving pass a row of houses
This city has the broad streets and is well maintained and good kept. I'd love to live there.
It's cool that this just popped up. I just drove through on the 680.

EASY living.. the less people the better for me,,, 😆 lol!

btw i like how this city looks, it looks different
Yeah it is it's own thing. Not a good one.
Born and raised south sider, Youngstown is my town and always will be!
I guess that's called vlogging
I love paranormal vlogs while they explore and discuss history. By the way, where is Youngstown at in Ohio?
Youngstown is in North East Ohio. It sits on the Ohio / Pennsylvania state line
1 and a half from Cleveland
If yall going through northwest ohio swing through napoleon and wauseon. You'll like those two towns. They're not far from morenci michigan, Katie might know where that is
Hardscrabble. The best and brightest from the region left along time ago.
I live just around the corner from we're he is. I love the neighborhood I am in.
15:45 on the rightside of the street look at the Chase Bank is the Building that exploded recently!!! Just shows how the Building looked. Nice video of just driving the neighborhood. Originally I'm from Toledo Ohio.
Youngstown born and raised - when is last time you been to the malls?
Where were the survivors buried?
Have you ever thought of going to Lansing MI
I live in Youngstown and I can actually say it’s horrible it’s always killings it’s really sad The southside of Youngstown is the worst side I’m not trying to scare nobody but Youngstown is not a place you want to raise your kids if you do move here move to Austintown Boardman and liberty
I may be moving to Boardman. Is it much safer there?
Mcguffey was an educator who wrote most of the grade school readers.
Used to be a steel mill town, then they built super-mills out in indiana closer to Iron and limestone deposits. When the mills went down, they had a lot of houses but no jobs.It also didn't help to outsource steel from china. Bruce Springston did a folk song called youngstown
Isn't there a song called welcome to the jungle?
That should be youngstown's theme song.
I could tell you crazy story’s just in my front yard!!! Saltsprings rd getn craxy!!!

Yay OHIO !!! home sweet home

Ain't nothing wrong with Youngstown. Proud manufacturing history. Great, tough people.
I'd be proud to live there and call it my home.
If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.
Ohio is the Midwest. That parking deck was tore down and a few other sightly buildings were tore down. Vome back when they are down fixing up Downtown.
Downtown WAS fixed up. And then all the places boarded up again due to pandemic and corrupt landlords. Nothing good anymore south if YSU.
Unfortunately I live here and I use that word loosely.

My heart goes out to her mother & sister & the rest of her family & friends. I pray they find out exactly what happened & who or what is responsible for it.
@@ondreacounts2556 thank you! she has a brother too. hes commented on yt articles about her! i think some think the roommate had something to do with it. she was a great girl! its sad!
@@terrimakley3366 I wasn't aware there was a roommate. The news never reported one. All the news had to say is that she had followed her boyfriend here to Youngstown to live w/him, I think. And it's not fair for Kricket either, she deserves justice as well as her family does. You're right, it is truly sad. 😢
