  • Thumbs up if you like this Documentary.
Very few people even remember Ruby Ridge, let alone what occurred and this just might be the greatest tragedy of all. But Ruby Ridge was a watershed. It paved the way for government bureaucrats at ATF and the FBI to violently react to American citizens who failed to pay proper homage. It revealed the arrogance of government's non-elected officials and their contempt for "non-compliant" Americans. My wife, a former supervisor at the US Department of Justice was riveted to the screen as she watched this DVD. On several occasions, she repeated "this is just the way they are!" For the life of me, I don't understand why this unfolding drama was given such a low rating. Maybe most people are in denial over what happens when Americans don't bow to authority or live according to "approved" rules. Whatever the reason, it's a travesty to this excellent movie and a tragedy for democracy. As someone who has spent some twenty years in uniform as a Field Grade Officer and as an individual who has known many "Feds," I can tell you that this film captured their incompetence and duplicitous arrogance to perfection. Only "Waco, The Rules of Engagement," has managed to better clarify the threat we all face. It comes from unaccountable unelected Federal civil servant bureaucrats who feel that they are not just above the law, but but hold the power of life and death over citizens who threaten their sense of self-importance. "The Siege at Ruby Ridge," is a must see.

I played Sam Weaver in this movie. I have read most of the comments here and am not surprised by many of them. I want to say though that to all those who say "that's not how it happened" or "it's not a documentary", "Propaganda" etc. that you are wrong. The producers of this film (TV movie) had access to all of the public records for all 4 of the cases involved in the story, and had consultants from both sides present during most of the filming. I met Mr. Weaver during filming on one of the occasions he was present (Usually it was a representative)
As far as Sam having "No business shooting the US marshall" He shot at an armed man (who fired first) while on his property, and was running away from the threat when he was shot in the back. The facts of that particular encounter were not disputed by either side (with the exception of who actually shot the marshal, Kevin or Sam). Regardless of the legal standing (I think most would agree that his actions were legally sound "self-defense") he was a child, acting as a child who just witnessed his dog being shot. Use of deadly force against him was unwarranted.
I am not an expert, I am an actor who played a role as honestly as I was able to honor the memory of a child in a family torn apart by violence. The filmmakers I believe had the same goal.

Yeah I believe you BP BUT they way they edited this film and cut it together shows too much of a bias to the government. It's good in that it shows both sides, but the agencies were craaaazy to be pushing this hard. I guess maybe it was part of the zeitgiest of the era too. I think since 2010 states like Idaho and Montana etc have pushed the Firearms Freedom Acts through though.

I don't agree with the weavers families politics, but it is my belief that the militarization of our police force, and a trigger happy officer that caused the entire mess. Glad you shed some light on the background of the film, very interesting.

In spite of political correctness, people are allowed to hold opinions and beliefs, no matter how far they deviate from the majority, no matter how well-founded or flaky. The 1st Amendment used to allow that. I may not fly your flag, wear your slogan on a shirt, or march in your parade, but I will support your right to believe something I totally oppose.

There is a scene where his kids shout "white power" and holding guns and he is telling them to keep thier fight for the N**ers and the jews .does this really happened ? I am not American and not white and even though the movie shows him as a racist nazi but i feel sympathy toward him . I think whoever made the movie wanted to ruin his image . Because his wife said true things and she said it in the 80s .. she said the govt controlled by zionists and they want to make a one world economy to make the people slaves to them .and i think this is true . Most of the world population now work hard thier entire life just to afford thier basic needs. Back in mid ages slaves used to work for food and shelter .. and this is almost whats happening now .

The second amendment says that the right for the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Which means in plain English that there is no limitations on the amount or type of weapons that American citizens are allowed to have. One of the reasons is to prevent the government from becoming to big and too tyrannical. When the government fears the people we have Liberty, when the people fear the government we have tyranny. This is exactly what the government wants is to be able to control its citizens and that the people cannot have anything that would allow the to fight the government. Which the government is going against the constitution by doing that. REMEMBER THAT WE AMERICANS NEED TO REALIZE THAT IT IS TIME TO REFRESH THE TREE OF LIBERTY..

    • @KatSpade1018
      @KatSpade1018 Před 3 lety +2

Todd, as u stated "without being infringed" but yet if someone is convicted of a felony ( even if it was 20 years ago ) they can't ever own a firearm or even have one in their home nor in even the trunk of their car on their property. So I guess if you break the law one time and serve out your punishment that your just screwed if someone kicks in your front door. They can just slaughter your whole family because you have no rights to any weapons for defense. Also, I think it's crazy that nobody else living within the home, even if an adult, is allowed to keep a gun for defense. Just because someone else in the home broke the law at some point in their life.
Suppose a couple went on a cruise or weekend getaway for an anniversary or something and their children, late teens-early 20's were home. Those kids have no system of defense if their home was invaded by intruders. THAT'S CRAZY! Besides all that, felony=no firearm applies to felonies that didn't even involve firearms or a violent crime so I just don't understand that law. Everyone should have the same equal right to have the ability to defend their home, family, and property. That's very different than conceal and carry or open carry on public streets and property. What is kept for protection in the privacy of your own home or property is nobody's concern. Unless their breaking into your home nobody will ever come face to face with it. Laws regarding protection of home and property need to be changed to allow every American the right to self protection. That's discriminating, even to innocent family members and shouldn't be allowed. Sorry for the rant, you had a great comment. I guess it sparked my fire. Lol.
SUPPORT THE 2ND AMENDMENT while we still have one 🙂

Watched this last night , and I've seen the American Experience show as well as interviews with Sarah now a scarred woman doing the best she can to live the rest of her life. I've never come across an public words or interviews with Lon H... What strikes me is that only a few years earlier, Lon was an Army officer, Randy was in the Army, Bo Gritz was in the Army … (I'm a vet myself as well). Heck, not all but a lot of the US Marshalls come from the military backgrounds. So do many police. And a while later after this went down, another vet was so incensed by this and Waco the following spring he took a roadtrip to Oklahoma City in 1995 with a Ryder Truck. :'( All once were American soldiers who at some point at least used to be willing to give everything to protect not just their country, but the brother or sister in arms standing next to each other - then they were willing to kill each other a few years later.

I was told that this movie was inaccurate. That the family did not go around marching Hi Ho Hitler marching around their neighbor's house when they would not come out and play when the neighbor children was restricted from playing with the Weaver children. But if this is true, i can certainly see how the government was worried and played safe regarding the Weaver family and the dad you refused to go to court. But 500 military offercers? !!! WOE! Of course we know that no mater what, they were wrong about how they handled things, snippers all around ready to pick off anything that moved, appalling to say the least, "Thou shalt NOT KILL!!" Scripture says we follow the rules of the land unless they conflict with YaHUah's laws, the Father made a big mistake by missing his court date and suffered the worst way possible. I guess the Father is an atheist today, and His older daughter Sarah?, is christian. I am so moved and inspired by her testimony and find her a courageous woman of YHUH. What a life time story, experiences, and lessons to learn. And as always, a Father YaHUah, who is our shelter in the storm a tall tower to run to when things get dark! The name of YaHUah is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe (Proverbs 18:10).

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light. But if your eye be evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness!
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

There was no need for any of this. Why didn't the ambush the man while out with his son? He is no hero to endanger his family like this. Poor children. I mean if you have a court date... go.... this is a tragedy of feds mistakes and a man who place dhis fmaily in harsh wya while he spat in their faces. It's wrong to canonized this man. most of the time not from a rifle bullet they stop pistol caliber rounds but not 223 and 308 fmj rounds i would think most men would not kill a little boy or his dog over such a small case. after the fact failure to appear was the only thing weaver got convicted of they gave him 3.5 million buck in a settlement for wrongful death.

But nobody should have to have on body armor at their own home or property. I don't believe that they would have just opened fire on the officers. They come out armed if they hear noises outside or someone pulling up... Yes... but they live in the middle of nowhere so if they aren't expecting company I can see being alarmed until you see what's up. When someone is serving an arrest warrant they typically knock on the front door and show identification not dress in head to toe camo and sneak through the trees up your property with sniper rifles and murder your family pets. I highly doubt the Weavers would have burst out of the house and started shooting them up, however, if they were so afraid of that possibility then why didn't they just wait for him to come down the mountain headed into town like the first time? He's not gonna stay in the house forever and if a neighbor alerted cops like last time then by the time the Weavers got into town a cop would have enough time to be there waiting. He literally only sold a couple of guns. It's not like he was an arms dealer supplying mass amounts of weapons to most of the west coast. Maybe the old saying is true.... What you fear, you create....

About Guns: A village in an Asian province where all the citizens were armed had a series of murders of a chieftisns family, the governor deicded to strip all the citizens of their weapons. When the communists, common gangsters found out, they poured in their like locusts and took over. Turning the citizens into victims co-operating with whomever swung through. Different part of the world, I know. Principle stands.........An Armed people are the best defense to foreign&domestic invasions.

The movie is amazing and the performance of the actors is very good but i want to ask something .. Was he a racist and had the kkk beliefs as the movie said ?
