Very few people even remember Ruby Ridge, let alone what occurred and this just might be the greatest tragedy of all. But Ruby Ridge was a watershed. It paved the way for government bureaucrats at ATF and the FBI to violently react to American citizens who failed to pay proper homage. It revealed the arrogance of government's non-elected officials and their contempt for "non-compliant" Americans. My wife, a former supervisor at the US Department of Justice was riveted to the screen as she watched this DVD. On several occasions, she repeated "this is just the way they are!" For the life of me, I don't understand why this unfolding drama was given such a low rating. Maybe most people are in denial over what happens when Americans don't bow to authority or live according to "approved" rules. Whatever the reason, it's a travesty to this excellent movie and a tragedy for democracy. As someone who has spent some twenty years in uniform as a Field Grade Officer and as an individual who has known many "Feds," I can tell you that this film captured their incompetence and duplicitous arrogance to perfection. Only "Waco, The Rules of Engagement," has managed to better clarify the threat we all face. It comes from unaccountable unelected Federal civil servant bureaucrats who feel that they are not just above the law, but but hold the power of life and death over citizens who threaten their sense of self-importance. "The Siege at Ruby Ridge," is a must see.

FYI, the sniper had his case moved to federal court, where it was immediately dismissed and the agent not punished in any way. This should tell you what kind of justice our government believes in when it fucks up.

The mother said some true stuff .. and she said that in 80s and i think this is why they portray her here as a racist supermacist evil woman . She said about zionist ruling and controling the u.s govt. And this is true .she talked about one world economy or NWO where all the people become slaves to that system and this is true and happening . Most anyone in the US at that time remembers the all the coverage in the media, we thought we knew what was happening because Federal agencies like the FBI and the US Marshal's Service were telling reporters what happened and why they were there. After the siege and standoff ended, things slowly died down, and the truth wouldn't start coming out until the start of the trial 8 months later.
I wish this movie had focused more on the trial, which lasted almost 3 months. Gerry Spence, and to some extent, David Nevin, who was the attorney for Kevin Harris, systematically discredited evidence and testimony presented by the the prosecution. Spence showed that whole case against Weaver, from the false charges and mismanagement at the very start, to it's tragic ending, was a result of bureaucratic government ineptitude, overzealous law enforcement agents, poor communications between agencies, and complete disregard for citizen's constitutional rights to the point of criminal complicity by the ATF, FBI, DOJ, and the US Marshal's Service. Some of the same agency leaders involved with Ruby Ridge were also connected to Waco.
While both Vicki and Randy Weaver were religious fringe types and racists, they had never been members of any white supremacy groups and had never broken the law, never even had so much as a traffic ticket. I'm all for law and order, and I certainly don't agree with Randy Weaver's views, but when people are attacked and killed because of their personal beliefs by those who are supposed to enforce the law and administer justice, then our whole society and way of life is under threat. Our government of the people is supposed to serve the people, not become the people's master.
Some of these scenes never fail to bring a tear to my eye...

Ironically, Randy Quaid ended up turning into quite the conspiracy nutter himself in the years after this film.

Thank you for posting these!! I remember and will never forget or forgive or trust for that matter our government. They've consistently proven they're only loyal to themselves and to hell with the ordinary everyday citizen. Fuck the government. We remember Ruby Ridge, the Bundy's, Waco, and Levoy Finicum!!!!

The silenced rifle the sog showed in court wasn't a 9mm. Magazine way too big. But they used to use 9mm Colt SMGs for urban use.

This family never should have had this happened to them . They are good ppl. I will always stand by this family . They wanted to Kill Randy . And they killed a 13 year old little boy and an unarmed women with a baby in her arms . No they needed to pay and go to jail. The little one always gets hurt when she reads something bad about her family and that’s not right and not nice. Randy’s youngest is very sensitive so to ppl who are saying bad things about this family and her parents you need to stop because you’re scum putting down her family . I will always defend this family .
I may not agree with all of their beliefs but they had a right to live a life separate from society. The government frowns upon that.
Worst movie I've ever seen, the only reason I watched it all was to see what kind of shit ending they have, considering the rest of the movie was complete fabrication and lies,why they weren't sued in court is amazing!!!!!

Good christian family who knew the truth and the evilness of the government and those who are controlling the govt . And they decided to stay away and live peacefully . And when the father tried to support his family by dealing in couple of guns .. they arrested him .. threatened him and gave him the wrong date of court .. and when he didnt show up .. they sent thier tools to him and his family .. killed his dog and his son when they were just defending themselves. And then killed his wife ..shot him and shot the other guy . And after a couple of years they made a movie portraying him and his family as an evil racist family . And they portrayed the real evil government as good people . I am not white or even american but i feel sympathy toward Randy and his family and i feel so sad now after i knew the true events of the story and when i watched this movie i was not surprised that they lied in it and showed Randy and his family like the bad guys . It is not new of the film industry in America to twist the facts and lie . Rest in peace Dog, child and mother . I hope you are in a better place now . A place that you believed it exists .. a paradise. Rest in peace heroes .
