    This is an absolutely fantastic bike.
    I bought one for my son recently, and based on the quality and spec, had no hesitation going into our local dealer and ordering a Siskiu T8 for myself. Can't wait for it to arrive.
    The quality of the Xtrada is comparable to any big brand bike, but the components fitted would only be found on one literally more than double the price. (Xtrada is $950ish here in NZ, Specialized or Trek with same components about $2200.)

    Awesome video! I tried going with the PNW Rainier Gen 3 post in my new Xtrada6, but unfortunately the bottle cage bolts are in the way. I would have to compromise the frame and the warranty. A local bike shop mechanic told me the bolt can be removed and leave a hole with really no good way to seal it. He also said that the 2nd cage bolt would hinder the actuator on the dropper. So I am having to resort to the KS eTen to get the proper fit. I'm interested in your ideas for mods & upgrades so keep these videos coming!

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  Před 2 lety

      Thanks! The bottle cage mounts are always an issue on these types of bikes. The bigger frames will have a little a little more room than the smaller ones. A short dropper will work just fine for most people as long as they get the seat out of the way.
      We're going to do some cool upgrades to this bike soon.

    Nice Video! I have an xtrada 7. Did you punch holes for the bottom 2 grommets that are near the pedals? Or was it drilled as well?

    Thx.

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  Před 2 lety

      I punched holes in the bottom grommets. The drill was really sloppy. If you try to add a hole to the grommet by the brake line, be extremely careful. The line goes in at an angle and if you drill your brake line you'll be doing more than a bleed. Pull ot out and look at it before you drill. You could also try a plier style leather belt punch. It might be cleaner but for a cost you're better off buying a bleed kit instead.
      Also you can now buy the appropriate grommets from bikes online. There should be a link in the description for those.

I punched the 2 bottom grommets no problem and punched the right grommet with one brake line intact, no issues, ran the cable and installed the lever by the left hand. Running the cable housing and wire were not too bad, just need to use a hook and a small needle nose pliers to help fish the cable out. The tough part was getting enough tension onto the bottom of the dropper to the lever, but that's dependent on what dropper post one may buy.

I’m currently 5’5 and I’m purchasing the medium sized bike. First off, would the 120mm fit in the frame of my bike? Second off, is the dropper post able to lock in when it is only partially up or can it only go the full travel. I want to make sure my pedal efficiency with the dropper is at its greatest and I’m wondering if my smaller height will affect anything?

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  Před 2 lety

      I haven't tried a 120mm. I can slam the 100mm post all the way down without issue. At 120mm worst case it sits up 20mm. Even if 120mm will fit in the frame it may not fit you at your height. I'm 5'9" and 100mm works just fine. I raised it only small amount and I have plenty of clearance. You are at the shorter height for a medium frame. You still have to account for the seat tube height as well. Keep in mind that droppers do not have to be inserted all the way down to the seat collar.
      You can always dry fit the post first to see if it fits you and exchange for a longer or shorter post if it doesn't. Better to have a shorter post raised up than to struggle with a post that is too long.

      It will fit in the bike, but you will need to make sure it will fit you.

    Just curious m, why couldn’t you route the dropper through the left side with the other cable? Since you ended up putting 2 cables through that side anyways?

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  Před 2 lety

      If you run the cable through same side as the controls there will be too much cable sticking out to snag against things on the trail. If you trim it down, your cables will be too short and will potentially get damaged if the bars rotate too much in a crash.

      If I end up getting this bike and take it to a local bike shop would they know how to do it like you did?

    • @AdrenalineIsLife
      @AdrenalineIsLife  Před 2 lety

      @@mtb_newbie9184 Yes. But I've been hearing that people are getting them with the correct routing. So you may not need to do that.

    Hi, have you seen xtrada 6 2022? Are they better than 2021? And what is the difference / advantage of the xtrada 7 2022 to them?

      There are no changes except for the colors to the Xtrada series for 2022. Specs and components are the same.

    It's not clear to me why you reroute the rear brake cable. Why not just route the dropper cable through whatever side you want and have it share a grommet with the brake cable?

  • @AdrenalineIsLife
    @AdrenalineIsLife  Před 2 lety +3

    If you want to save some time and hassle, you can get the appropriate grommets from Bikes Online at the following link. bikesonline-usa.sjv.io/Pyq9Ej
    I made the job a little harder by making my own. 🤒 But it was a fun exercise. 😃

      I’m planning on doing the hole punch method. Did you have to punch the grommet at the bottom of the down tub and the seat post tube grommet for the dropper cable as well? Thanks!
