    Thank you for a very informative review. The sub 12 foot pound settings seem to make for a great target shooter. I was uncertain about KRAL, but seeing this opened my eyes. As a southpaw, the controls look very usable, and heck, one of my favorite PB's of all time was the SMLE, so I'm used to operating RH actions.

  • @steventhompson3507
    @steventhompson3507 Před 3 lety +7

    I had one of the early models and for such a low price it was superb, remembering of course that even the accuracy did improve with leading in of the barrel. They have changed the style of the butt a little but it's an improvement. It was giving me 65 yard spinners at the range, repetitively and with ease. They seriously need to make this a take down rifle, though Im not certain they might not have because of UK laws on length, don't quote me on that, theirs an anti tamper fixing where the butt joins the main action. My reason for getting rid was a bit fussy if m honest= the plastic bodywork which to my mind seemed a bit tacky and the butt adjustment rattled a tiny bit, which isn't difficult for even a novice to sort out really, just play in the adjustment.

    Good review Richard, and matches my thoughts about the .22 I have. My trigger had a bit of creep and was heavy out of the box, but it can be adjusted with the stock removed so now has a fairly short first stage, stops and breaks pretty lightly. It’s consistent for an unregulated rifle too and compact even with a moderator fitted. Mine is topped with a Hawke 2x7x32 AO Airmax and a Pard 007 as my go to ratting gun. Perfect in and around the yard, barns and sheds.

      Thanks very much. Its strange but on some rifles I review this is indeed the case. On others it makes no difference. I tried groups with the chrono on and off the rifle and it didn't seem to make any difference. I think the problem was more to do with the windy conditions and the fact the rifle was straight out of the box. Regulated adjustable, side lever cocking, not pellet fussy at all, low and high power setting, and well under 350$ usd. I’m shocked that a lot of air gunners don’t know about this amazingly accurate and reliable platform. Wood stock or very much lighter synthetic stock which is also 50$ cheaper, Marauder style mags that are 12$ each. SMK I think also markets this gun. Made in Macau China by Nova Vista, maker of the Liberty, Freedom, Seneca Aspen, and the Avenger...I think you will find its a keeper. I will hold its own with the FX Crown out to 80 yards in FAC. Thanks very much. Velocity will depend on the calibre and weight of the pellet. 700 fps at 12 ft/lbs would need a very light pellet (around 12 grains). A .177 rifle with a typical 8.4 grain pellet would be closer to 800 FPS. I suspect the advertising you've seen is either a little optimistic or relates to higher than 12 ft/lbs rifle for markets that allow them.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Před 2 lety

      Hi. Sorry to hear that. The issue is likely to be with either the thread on the silencer or the thread on the barrel not being cut properly. Possibly it could also be that the end cap on the silencer is out of alignment.
      You can either try the Donny FL on another rifle. If the problem persists it would suggest the silencer is at fault (return it for a replacement). If it works fine then its likely the problem is the thread on the rifle.
      If its the latter then try unscrewing the shroud and attaching the silencer directly to the barrel which is also threaded. If it works fine that way then you need only replace the shroud.
      Of course, you can also try a different silencer. If it works fine on your NP-03 then the issue is with the Donny FL. If it clips as well then the shroud/barrel is the problem. I hope that helps. Please let us know how you get on, and good luck.

      @@gallabatorix7413 Hi. I'd try and find out if the issue is the silencer or shroud thread. If its the silencer I think I'd rather they replace it than simply make the hole better. I wouldn't worry about the sound reduction being compromised, but an unequal flow of air around the pellet could affect accuracy. Ideally you want the pellet doing straight through the middle of the silencer. I'd have thought boring it would result in there being a bigger gap one side than the other. Boring a silencer out would also indicate to me that it wasn't made properly in the first place.

      Hopefully one day they(kral)or the UK importer will take note I'm not on my own in my opinion.
      And the hammer spring' is what I meant it's way over sprung,hence my re spring to reduce the damage caused internally by how quickly and hard the hammer hits the valve pin and body of the action
      Early krals suffered damaged valves,and the cocking mechanism is still a bone of contention as these still throw pins and break the handles, when the spring is reduced cocking effort is reduced preventing damage to either of the above mentioned.
      Air Arms being British start the way I ended up,big ports and small tension hammer springs hence you barely hear their actions,then sell a monster FAC spring to give export/fac power.
      It's laughable really as they produce port's of 2-2.5mm barrel,transfer and inlet,then 4mm for fac/export and keep the same spring, madness!
      They are feature laden and bargain priced and have a decent following because of this, in my opinion they aren't interested in what they think is a small market but would certainly double sales and halve the returns with a little standardisation.
