put an open diff and split the hand brake so you can lock each wheel separately and that thing will actually turn
Dual diff is perfect for this type of modds!
exactly what I though. I was wondering why they welded diff - it's not like that would make a difference on the water, with little to no load on the tires.
@@rafakordaczek3275 Most of the time they use same cars for many projects, this one had diff welded way back.
@@wtfiswiththosehandles yup they typically torture a car until they can't anymore 🤣
Came here to say the same
13:18 That guy on the right almost went for a swim too 😂
"The boys are experiencing some wheel spine" 😭
“We’ve done everything properly.” LOL 😂
That made me laugh hard too
Breaks in first 10 seconds....rebar to the rescue? Lol
@@kevinclear4007 Wellllllll
These prototype Sherps definitely saw some improvements before making it into production. 😆
Back when they called them Sharts
Thank you, Vlad, for once again demonstrating the clear technical superiority and unmatched flexibility of Ladas over all competng vehicles. You have sent a Lada to space (Shorty on the weather balloon), you have proven Lada's seaworthiness, swampworthiness, iceworthiness, snowworthiness and of course its utter superiority on land. When will we see a Lada submarine? Or a Lada torpedo? Or maybe a Lada that swings from trees? How about a dune-buggy Lada? Or a hang-glider Lada? This one might be a bit tricky, but how about a unicycle Lada? Here's one more wonderful idea: How about a Lada Scud Missile? Keep up the excellent work; we love it!
to get it on land you need about an 8:1 rear gear to make up for those tires.
a manual transmission mounted to the back of a torque converter autobox might almost make that possible
1. Belly pan for engine (just weld the hood to the bottom?) 2. Front wheels don't really steer as they don't turn; shorten those spacers - or weld the suspension higher as it was still bending too much and in the clearance space, add some rudders for steering. 3. Keep having fun like you do!
You need to make a LADA hovercraft! You guys always make me smile with your crazy antics.....😄
Awesome. Red Green did this with a Honda.
You guys are living legends , I could drink a few beers with you guys anytime 👍👍👍
God I love this channel so much,
You guys do what I thought I wanted to do when I was 10 - 16 years old but never did.
Awe man, the alignment 😂 let’s drive it in the lake! You guys are awesome 👏😎
Rolling’, roll in’, roll in’ on the river. 🎶😆
This really needs to happen with a Niva, the 4wd should help a lot.
Or a FWD
Welding the differential might have been a mistake...
Separate brake controls for left/right drive wheels would let the operator steer by choosing which wheel gets more power.
like a tractor
The load on those wheel bearings is terrifying.
That was such an awesome video Team Garage 54. I loved it. I had a huge blast watching it. Thanks sooooo much for sharing this video with us, it was awesome. You folks have an epic day and Happy Summer to you. See you next video. Byes for now.
Ifffff you put tires that go beyond the roof of the car you will be able to run into a wall and flip over and drive upside down? Try it
Remember that toy back in the nineties? I forget what it was called, remote control car that could flip over and still keep driving....
@@towerofresonance4877 fliperona is caled on balkan
Engine won’t run upside down
@@Jaujau326 that's right
@@Jaujau326 then place engine on bearing
I think that this set up perfectly fit with the monster lada! The one with the truck engine swaped!
I think you need to use a front wheel drive car for ease of steering and some extra flotation under the front of the vehicle.
This was awesome! It floated great. What a loyal car.
Before the arm broke, I thought the wheel bearing was separating when it started leaning at a weird angle. The real mvp is those oem wheel wheel bearings. There’s definitely enough pressure to separate a wheel bearing there
wheel bearings are tougher than you think, so I was expecting a broken spindle
I’ve had them separate with less
I'm convinced that the Lada is the most toughest, most versatile, and powerful car ever built. You can do anything to it and it'll still run.
I’d like you to make a car that is capable of driving upside down, which has complications of its own - regarding lubrication but it certainly would be a crazy thing to see… like those RC cars from when I was a kid that would drive upside down
That Freddy-T-shirt looks really good.
YOU could remove the radiator once it's in the water and just allow the water pump to pump straight for the water source as long as it's fresh water.
Love that you do all your experiments on ladas. It makes it way more entertaining.
Because it cheap. This lada price about 350$
@@arina4396 id love to be able to find a lada for 350$
As a child I used to do these to my toy cars 🤣 putting wheels from the bigger to the smaller ones thinking if it was real it would float
As it turns out my 11 years old self was right!!! 😁
Maybe you guys should make a lada boat, welding the doors, making it buoyant and you could use a propeller on the driveshaft instead of the diff (and make the propeller steer)
I think a more appropriate background music for this would would be.. The "Theme From Gilligans Island" 😁
It's almost as though Ladas were made to tolerate these shenanigans xD
I want to work at garage 54 when I grow up. Son, no one should have that much fun.
If you can develop a mechanism for it to spin the wheels inviditually and opposite directions it will be full on controllable on water.
like using an open diff and independent braking on the rear, plus putting rear tires on backwards so they can act as paddles....since it's not 4wd
@@DjFr1nge I agree with you, those tyre threads are made for removing water on a wet roads, turning them around would give it more forward thrust, the diff should be unlocked with independent braking and different gear ratio, 4 wheel drive would be better as your not dragging 2 great big anchors, raise the suspension so that no water enters the cab and the steering pivot points should be extended into the tyre rim, not much wrong then
13:18 - lmao @ the dude trippin in the backroung
20:47 9/10 For the front flip😂
Easy solution for steering on water. Put an open differential in. Mount two E-brake levers with one running to each rear brake. You can sail it like a skid steer.
One the greatest channel in CZcams 👌
Love your channel Vlad, the things you do to cars are crazy. BMI Russian has it's hands full, but they do a great job translating. I'm glad that you didn't go too far out into the lake, that suspension was under a lot of stress, I was fearful that another link might go and you would need a rowboat to come get you. Try building yourself a copy of the unstoppable Sherp, those Russian rigs easily go through any of the mud pits that America has offered.
4 wheel drive would ne a huge help in moving the car along in the water, and using the lake water to cool the engine instead of a radiator
There's always the option of reverse steering using the rear of the vehicle to steer the rear end along with the front Of the vehicle you can steer that also that's 360 steering
I could tell at 8:30 we were going to have a catastrophic failure
The ending is the best part, he is his own stunt man.
That was great 👍 all you needed was a fishing pole and beer 🍻
I'd love for you to reverse everything. Turn right to go left, Clutch pedal = gas, gas = clutch, 1st gear = 4th gear, 4th gear = 1st gear ect ect.
Solid pipes instead of shocks for suspension PLEASE 🥺❤️
Kamakazi fire eliminating Lada. Ever see that movie Demolition Man? Like the safety system there, but this one dumps foam. Drive into an area with fire (forest, building, parking lot) pull the lever and blow up in foam
So you took my advice again thank you garage 54
Damn, this was a rather amazing lada :D
4:18 Immortan Joe's vehicle in Mad Max
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
this reminds me of a crazy Russki machine called the Cheburetor, which I saw in the early days of youtube. The background music was by a Russian artist called Chaif, the song was Volny Veter... .great stuff!
I like where this is going!! 😆
All he really needed to make it go like a boat, was a steering rudder on the rear and a snorkel system! Great experiment though!👌😂👍
It's a Larp. A Lada trying to be a Sherp.
Add a corkscrew to the tail shaft, it might assist with propulsion
I'm amazed such thin pipes held together as an axle
Good thing they have Dana 60’s
G54 is this close to being in NYC, their logo being a tag, the crew being a gang and the people there making and jamming to hiphop.
Still would like to see that V12 engine In a monster truck though But thank you for taking that advice With monster truck tires Garage 54
Such an awesome channel
Haha I instantly thought ball joint too, then I saw the rotten control arm
maybe a uaz with two straight axles in the front and the back and brakes plumbed to give it a sort of skid steer would work better for that size of a tire
Needs a tread for sand like paddles. Also needs 4wd/awd
Next, split and add a boat prop to the drive shaft.
Need to do this again, but make the vehicle water tight like a boat, and need an all-wheel-drive vehicle.
Jesus Lada, I've heard it can turn gasoline to wine
Looks very fun
Good job
Whistlindiesel style lol
Fantastic
Whistling diesel has tried it with their truck putting big tires and floating on the Atlantic Ocean it works but very slowly
If that Lada was AWD it would work pretty good as a boat... Those front wheels just need to be powered for it to be controllable.
A hovercraft lada is next lol
The propulsion would have been stronger had you turned the tires around backwards... Great job my Siberian brothers!
3D printed models of this car would be cool to sell. On line well okay the blueprints I guess are easier so it's a thought 🤔 great job and glad you got to swim this was great and funny all in 1 great work everyone 👍 👏 😀
Nice. Try putting a prop at the back.
They made a friend for that Hummer on tiny wheels they created a while ago
"It won't go anywhere but straight"
Ooooh... Make a lada go straight but then try to add steering by differentially running the tyres like tank treads.
The last 4 words stoped this from being a family show!
I know.......how sad. They do stupid things like that and that's why I can't show these to my kids without being pretty careful. It's pretty stupid, really; they reduce their potential viewers by being foul-mouthed.
How truly terrible for you
To be fair - there has been swearing on this channel before, seldomly, but still. I usually censor F-bombs in the translation, but in this case the original Russian swearing was uncensored, so I essentially honored the source material.
@@SwapBlogRU Let me be the first to say THANK YOU for taking the time to translate these at all so that the majority of the world's population, who knows at least some English but no Russian, can enjoy this content. You really do a very good job and always have. I understand your desire to honor the source material; it's your job, really. I just wish that Vlad & friends would refrain from using foul language so that it would be a truly family-friendly production in any language. There are lots of small children who think gags like this are hilarious. :) I know I would have when I was small. If you have Vlad's ear, you might mention it to him. Have an amazing week!
@@edifyguy hi. They do tend to bleep the swearing, here they didn't for some reason. In any case, you have a valid point, I'll bear it in mind in the future.
Maybe in the future do a straight axle conversion on the front of the car for this type of project.
I'm at 4:28 into the video and I see non hub centric wheels 👌 I foresee snapped wheel Studds LoL I'll wait and See
0:16 Off to Odessa it is then
With your skills fit a propeller to the rear axle via another diff
LMAO That lada needs a rudder hooked up to it so to steer it better
Next, hovercraft Lada, why not.
Need some pontoons under the floor 🙃
Can you make a clutch out of really strong magnets?
A pair of pontoon floats under the car would help and then you would not need such big tires. Fun all the same.
3:05 ...rear wheel began to mysteriously roll.
Awesome
Vlad must not be able to swim, he's way to nervous about the water, lol
Guys can you do an engine swap with double ural motorcycle engines connected like 4 cylinder boxer? Will IT pull? Or even be stringer than a stock lada engine?
Try that thing in the snow this winter.
New method of drifting
Garage 54 needs ONE high powered motor, a turbo Lada or something that has enough power to make their cool experiments much better. Just swap it into their project cars.
Put gas tanks in the wheels too you’ll need it 😂 sherp style
We need some water Lada tug-of-war..
The 4 wheel steer lada with nitros
if the lada was 4-wheel drive, with the front dif welded like the rear, would it be able to steer on the water when you turn the steering wheel with the tires that are on it in this video??
You should fill helium in the front tires 😂
